In this video I breakdown a test with the Stryd footpod where I ran 10 x 1km swapping out shoes (and Stryd pod) every km. I started with heavier daily trainers and as the workout progressed, I switched into lighter race day shoes. Watch the video for a more detailed breakdown!

Very interesting, I was thinking about to a similar exercise myself, also would be interesting to see how the performance decrease with the mileage. One question I have though is this: Power is calculated from the movement of the shoe, not the effort of the runner. So if a good shoe would just give the same movement for a lower effort, you would not see the difference. I think the explanation must be that Stryd is able to detect the energy coming back because of the spring effect, and to differ that from the effort of the runner. I do not think this is 100% reliable, so I was very surprised that for you it gave very realistic results.

Good stuff. Where did you place the Stryd pod given the Alphafly laces are offset? Which Stryd version was used? Do you think the placement could cause inaccurate readings? Other Stryd users have reported 0 wind with the next gen pods when used with the Alphafly. Thanks for the content

Very cool. Did you notice any change in ground contact time?

Worth to mention that watts can increase at the same speed due to fatigue

I actually did an 11th interval to show this but I wasn't happy with how I paced it so I didn't bother to mention it, haha

And the distance between shoes was always the same?

This is key for any of those numbers to make sense. My guess is that different shoe thickness is going to produce different distances (and thus different power). That has been my experience, consistently. We need to know the percent change in distance to compare with the percent change in power.
