I run a 102" SS whip on a 5" extension on a Freightliner Cascadia, I also have a 107" length of ½" grounding braid as a counterpoise run the opposite direction of the antenna, it's connected to the mounting bracket giving me a ½ wave dipole. It cost less than $50.00, my best contact was with a station in the UK on 27.385 lsb. A few words of advice, make sure you adjust antenna for optimum SWR, make sure all components of your vehicle are well bonded using the grounding braid I mentioned, and by all means, HIRE A MAID!
3 things. Uncoil your coax, spread it out in much bigger circles and, MOVE the other antenna off the car plus, SET Your SWR! Dummy!! ALL will interfere with the performance of the radio. I'm betting you burn through radios pretty damned quickly.
Dude, you are brave not testing with an SWR meter inline. I got mine from Amazon the coil had a short from the factory the replacement was also shorted. Phoned Stryker they are sending me a replacement coil. I asked them to test it before shipping. Should get it tomorrow hopefully the one is good.

@bugzrrad OK sounds good. I've worked for a company called Raychem Corp 28 years thay invented shrink tubing and the computer touch screen I worked mostly on Crosslinking materials with electron beams .
Thanks for the review. You are one of the only people to show it unthreaded from the mag mount. Does the mag mount come with a protective cap? For example you want to leave the mag mount in place and protect from weather but don't want the antenna threaded in place.
