... guitarists like Jimmy Page or Ritchie Blackmore have more fame but for me they are a little bit "small" in front of a kind of great pipers as Stuart!
@PiperPride33 Sorry, I don't know the name of the tune, but I think it's one much played by Terry Tully and the St. Lawrence O'Toole Pipe Band. I'm pretty sure Terry played it when he gave a recital in London earlier this year. (And it'll probably be on their new DVD, when it comes out next year!)
Such an epic piper, hope to chat with him some at PHSD this year! Can anyone tell me what tune he plays at the 7:36 mark, right before The Pumpkin's Fancy?
@ciaransinclair Thanks for that ! By the way, I enjoyed your solo in "Lullaby" in the "Illumination" concert recently. Have you seen the video of it on my channel ? Well played !
rolupin From 3:00 to 3:56 the tune is called "The Atholl Highlanders", which is normally played as a 6/8 march, but this is Stuart's version of it, played as a jig !
I've heard it played several times, but regret I don't know its name. I think its a tune made popular by Terry Tully and the St. Laurence O'Toole Pipe Band.
The first tune is composed by Roddy MacDonald, called "Last Tango in Harris" and can be found in his book, "R.S. MacDonald - The Collection". If you get hold of Roddy's CD, "Good Drying" you'll hear him playing strikes in the fourth measure - just fantastic !
Stu Wakes Sorry, no, I don't have a copy. If you look further down this page, jackb248 corrected his earlier statement that the tune was in Book 4, to Book 1; and Tim Caisley believes it is in Terry Tully's Book 2. I haven't got any of the books, so I don't know - sorry !
Stu Wakes Got it. They sent me the wrong book but have the right one now. Great fun tune but all the birling needs practice. I'll get it off one day. Keep the vids coming Bob. Good channel mate.
