Thank you for another great video. I bet these stubbies are super handy when you work in a tight space, like if you are working under the dashboard on a car or electric cabinets

Great review. The bit holder cartridge models is where the two really differentiate themselves. The PB style is much nicer (as are the PB bits). Other than the purple extra heavy duty screwdrivers, I have found Wiha to be inferior to competitors, but still very very good screwdrivers. I will say if I don’t need anything other than Phillips and slotted I tend to grab the stubby klein I have (which also has 1/4 and 5/16 nut drivers too).

a thorough look. well done. I have been enjoying my pb so far. We'll see how it holds up in the long run. I wish vessel would make a stubby with bit storage. Their ratcheting stubby is ok, but uses a ball detent and long bits. The kits comes with a flex and bit holster which is nice. A note on anti-roll. I have a set of vintage cabinet maker slotted screwdrivers and the handles are oval so they don't roll. You can also get decent torque. I think that would be a good handle option for certain work cases. I have not seen any modern manufactures with that design and I think they are missing out. Old timers knew their stuff...mostly

@HTR Another great video. I enjoyed the comparisons of each feature. I also like the caliper measurements,. Nice attention to detail Viewer sugestion: I like videos on brands you don't see in hardware stores. Especially foreign brands.

I own both , and like both ! Both are very nice units ! I kinda use them interchangeably . I like that you can’t lose the bit magizine in the PB . We are fortunate to have so many good options !

@@htr5372 A few legacy Snap On . Two PB , one Ratchetting , one Magazine . The magazine one is too long for my taste ( a long stubby being about as smart as a Football Bat !

@@htr5372 BTW , I load all my 1/4” hex stuff with Milwaukee impact rated bits , and back 1” , and 2” iterations . They follow the “ Sten Gun” principle , not great but good enuff ! I archive the PB bits for Uber critical applications , and keep them seperate , so they don’t get fed into power/ impact drivers !

@@htr5372 I’ve never had issues , plus price / availability are right ! I’ve had some that have lasted for many months . If tight tolerances are a must , I’m go PB , I’ve found 1” and 2” are my most used sizes . Their extensions are quite adequate . As always , your mileage may differ . BTW , I’m kinda into Electro/ Mechanical maintenance ( tho I cross a lot of lines ) , just to tighten up trade specificity stuff ! My powered impacts are mostly M12 Fuel , tho I do have an M12 3/8” drive , with adapters down to 1/4 “ and up to 1/2” . In the interests of full disclosure !

@@htr5372 Another Stubby that might be worth a look for you ; the Whia 14 in 1 ( double ended 1/4” bits , Whia markets several bit assortments including Hex and Security bits . I also have the Standard length iteration , both ride in my “ Man Purse “ , and have got me out of jams . Other double ended bits in the 1/4”/6mm range also work to an extent ! That said the Whia bits fit better , as always YMMV ! I carry mine as an “ Off Duty” set , as I have a rep for being “ That Guy” , lol !

@@htr5372 Poland is now one of the more industrialized former Eastern block countries , with a good rep for build quality . Maybe not quite as good a Germany , but highly respectable , like the Czech Republic !

Does anyone know why PB Swiss seem to be mostly available as imports from Japan? Although on UK Amazon some of them appear to be sent from the US. Weirdly there is a PB Swiss UK website and it's still online and shows their full product range but ''closed'' and all buttons are inactive. I'm a big fan of Swiss products - like Victorinox pocket knives, and Wenger watches (which are very reasonably priced, they have the same specifications as Victorinox watches which cost 3/4 times as much) and am tempted to buy a PB Swiss bit holder or screwdriver for fun, I don't really need one but I do want one.

Have you tried the centrofix from Wiha? It is the best bit holder with the lest play of anything available and supports so many different sized bits. They are also releasing a ratcheting screwdriver soon based on their patents. There's a diagram of it too
@htr5372
@htr5372 Год назад
Thanks for watching and commenting. This review specifically didn't include locking bit holders and only primarily focused on magnetic bit holders. Wiha already had a ratcheting screwdriver released many years ago and they had a colloboration with Xiaomi called the Xiaomi Wiha 8 in 1. Do you have a link to their patent or diagram?

Also Wera has a fairly new patent for a velcro looking holder for the hex keys different to the hard plastic one. I try to follow the patents from many companies now that someone else on youtube gave me the idea. I do wish there was a way of getting notifications of new ones instead of sorting manually every time. Vessel also has a new ratcheting ball grip bit holder
@htr5372
@htr5372 Год назад
@@JM-dr1th I've seen the new Vessel ratcheting multi bit. Honestly I probably won't review it or the Anex anytime soon. The endgame in my opinion for ratcheting multi bit is still the Rolgear and Oplast versions. I've looked at various patents before, it's not the easiest to sort by manufacturer or the patent itself. It's time consuming and generally disorganized

@@htr5372 Interesting, will have to look into those two, I know project farm did a test of them to breaking point and liked the LTT and PB swiss although I don't know if he tested either of those. I do think having bit storage is a must for portability and I look forward to seeing how these designs are improved over time. I don't have any ratcheting driver yet, only fixed ones like the Centrofix but will hopefully get one next
@htr5372

@@JM-dr1th The Project Farm review didn't compare the right competitor models, having the wrong Megapro, wrong Snap On, and wrong PB Swiss. In addition the torture tests were excluded from the final averages. Also no mention about country of origin.
