Stuck Wiper Arm - Easy Removal Method

Having trouble removing a stuck or seized front windscreen wiper arm ?. Here’s a simple way to remove it using just a locking pliers. Using this method you don’t need to risk damaging the linkage by levering up the spindle and hammering at the thread like with some other methods. This method should work on most front wiper arms, but not all of them. Be careful not to use the glass for leverage as this could put pressure on the glass and break it, especially on rear wipers. Thanks for watching. Please comment, like and subscribe.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Didn’t find this video until after I had purchased a gear puller to remove the arm. Couldn’t get it to center, and remove the arm. Back to YT to find your video. One minute later, RESULTS! Sending back the puller today. Many thanks for the quick, cheap, effective tip!

Think you so much! Would never have gotten the arm off without this video. The wiper motor was going, and if I moved one arm the other moved too. The linkage from the motor the the rest of the arm linkage had popped off. Lubed it up and popped it back on (rust and debris had probably caused it to fall off initially). Anyway, thank you, hope this helps others too

Excellent, worked easily after a pry bar was to no avail despite having sprayed Free All on it first. Then put on a generous coating of anti-seize before putting it back together so it will be easier if I need to do it again. But one thing, you could have used a cheaper coin, those might be valuable.

Thank you, I was searching exactly for this example; I used a small crowbar to pop mine off.

@shawnstafford7809 Sometimes the nuts are covered with a plastic cap. What vehicle do you have ?

@shawnstafford7809 Wow nice car, lucky you ! 😎. I've rarely seen, let alone worked on a Firebird so I have no idea I'm afraid. I've only ever seen wiper arms fitted onto splined shafts and secured with nuts

You're welcome, just be careful not to use the glass for any leverage or it could crack.

I was having my windshield replaced, they were unable to remove the wiper arms and were therefore unable to replace the windshield. I attempted several other techniques shown on RU-vid to no avail. I will share your video with the windshield installer when I go back this week. This undoubtedly saved me significant time and money. Thanks again.

Thank you! The first half of method 1 did the trick. The arm popped off as soon as I was able to clamp the vice grip.
