Thanks for the helpful video. As it happens, I had a wiper arm puller tool in my box that I was dying to try for years. I just used it to replace my Jetta Sportwagen 2009's rear wiper arm. That thing was so seized that I had to remove part of the 'bearing' using a small metal saw. Once enough metal/rust was gone, the puller managed to get the job done. Thanks again.

Thanks for this. A common problem with age is that the plastic of the arm cracks and separates from the metal sleeve that's bonded into the arm, so the arm comes off and leaves the metal sleeve stuck on the splines of the motor shaft. I've found the easiest way to get the sleeve off is to use a Dremel to cut a single slit in it - it's aluminium so it's very quick and easy - which is usually enough to break the tension. Then you can get a flathead screwdriver tip (or similar tool) into the slit and wiggle the sleeve off.

Just followed your example almost exactly. I needed to pull my arms off to remove the plastic shield and vacuum out all the leaves and give water a way to drain. I used a small gear puller to get the frozen arms off. Thanks for posting this!

I need to do the same, but not this nor any other method i've tried worked. The tool he uses - I snapped 2 of these on the first try, thats how stuck my wiper arms are xD

I put a bicycle spanner wrench between the caulk gun head and its plunger and gave it a good squeeze . Pop that stubborn rear wiper arm of a Sienna '06 right off.

Haven't got this equipment. Mine was totally jammed. Spanner put under piece of metal (wiper) and over onto the bolt. Turning force applied down on bolt whilst lifting the fused arm worked for me after applying WD40. Couldn't believe how jammed it was. I would have smashed the back glass before getting it off without applying pressure down and up at the same time. Spanner does this perfectly! This video gave me the clue I need to come up with my version of the fix. Thanks.

@@ua751920 spanner head is half hexagon, basically has 2 full sides of a hexagon and 2 half sides. One half side goes under the windscreen wiper. One half side gones on to the area where the nut was removed from. Then you just use an upward torquing motion pressing slightly to the side as you pull up very slowly. It will just come away then. At least that was what I found. Mine was stuck so badly it would have smashed the windscreen if I had applied downward pressure to it.

It's a bit counter-intuitive but another strategy for stubborn metal pieces is to tighten them till they snap, not trying to loosen them. I've used this method many times on old stuff and it worked many times, including this time with the wiper arm on my Polo 9N3. In this case: Remove bolt. Remove old wiper arm. Put the bolt back on and tighten it slowly, carefully and gradually. The bolt will put pressure on that corroded evil round metal piece from the old wiper arm and break it. Remove bolt again. Use a plier to grab and remove the snapped ring.

Need help. Same problem with my wiper, however watching your video, I realized that i may be missing a part too. What is the black ring? Looks like a plastic/rubber washer? Right at the base of the wiper unit, below the seized bolt? Dont understand why I dont have this part. I just have a long exposed needle, which makes it easier for your wiper - if broken to flop about. Can’t find this part anywhere - dont even know what its called or if its part of a new motor system or the wiper arm. Can’t find it.

"WD-40 Lubricant" mh, dunno, it's multipurpose and stuff but definitely not a lubricant. IMAL is an actual lubricant that will seep through threads, you gotta give it time though.

"Penetrating oil", it's even marketed as such. It contains 35% petroleum based oil, so as close to a lubricant as possible.

HazeOverL Hi! Yes, you just have to use a wrench to tight that 13 mm nut, but you have to be sure that you don’t have any other problem with you wiper arm, maybe is broken.

@@Servicetutorials yup the thing was broken. The plastic was split and also seperated from the aluminium "nut". So the whole wiper came of easy, now I strugle with the damn aluminium ring that is left. I got a wiper remover tool and a big can of wd40 and will try later today without breaking anything. 🤞

@@Hows_Ur_Oulwan hey Jake. I bought a wiper arm remover tool. It worked...even if it was just the ring left. It holds the ring while it pushes the pin, so it releases. A wrench alone did not help. Good luck mate
