Those Hercules engines are impressive. They were designed to be rebuilt and last forever. Not like the throwaway junk car and truck manufacturers build nowadays. You have some neat old trucks.

That was a fantastic restoration. A beautiful old engine given new life. I liked the simple yellow paint job. It wasn't a custom job, yet it stands out and you didn't mind it getting oily for the start up, brilliant. Thankyou for sharing your expertise. 👍

I have enjoyed your video series on this Studebaker US6. I referred this video to a friend of mine who is originally from Alaska. I hope that he watched some of them. I assume that these trucks were surplus from the ALCAN highway construction during WWII. I am so glad that you are rescuing these trucks. My paternal grandfather was an Aviation Machinists Mate II in the US Navy right after WW I (One.) He taught my father a lot of mechanic skills growing up in The Great Depression. My father used these skills to work as a mechanics assistant on a pipeline laying crew in the 1948-1950. They had to maintain a lot of surplus heavy trucks, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment that the crews used. I learned a lot from my father growing up and have restored a lot of vehicles through the years. My father always talked about restoring a Studebaker US6 but we never found one to restore. I have no doubt that we could have done it. His 1959 Studebaker Lark VI and my 1963 Studebaker GT Hawk VIII seem like toys compared to these Studebaker US6 trucks. Thanks again for the videos.

The engine construction reminds me of a lot on the way a Ford model A engine goes together. Converted mine in insert bearings added adjustable valves like that. Very nice sounding engine

Nice Video!! I love your endless collection of these old road warriors. In 1959, I lived 1/2 mile from the drive-in theater where a group of families left from Redford Michigan to Alaska...they were called the '59ers. I remember there being 2 of that style truck in the caravan. I've often wondered if they made it (the trucks), that's a pretty long haul at 35 m.p.h. 😂

WOW that Clutch as smoked by pervious owner , I m thinking the over size tires and the Back Woods overloading and was never adjusted is a large part of why it failed , But now You are working to save the old beast I hope will all go well .

My father went through the war. Drove this the "Studebaker". Him - imagine - personally, my dad once had a chance to drive this Studer briefly in Odessa. Squeaky clean, stocked to the last key on the new tires. On the quay of the port there was a huge press that turned this "Studebaker" tapered in a can. Now. I his father, a former soldier BELIEVE. And I will carry his memory his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Let them know the TRUTH not only from the history books.

Yeah those flex hone brushes are awesome, any back yard mechanic can use em. Your cat looks a whole bunch like mine LOL. Nice video thanks for sharing. BTW You totally screw up your water injection timing by not timing the water pump all you have to do is stick on finger in your ear and the other to the coil and the engine will tell you when it's timed LOL
