I went to a charter high school way back in the 90s that required critical thinking, having evidence for your theories and citing your sources, also knowing what potential biases the sources might have. Looking at this terrifies me.
One of my first jobs was waitressing at a café where they pooled tips. If you worked a shift w/ two other go getters it was great, but when you worked a shift w/one or 2 slow-pokes or a lazy loser who didn't take care of their customers you got shafted. I learned at 17yrs old that redistributing wealth does not and cannot work.
well that's how it worked in almost all socialist countries and Nazi countries- the public education systems were influenced which led the kids to believe things that weren't true which inevitably led to the fall of the country. We NEED to be in our local schools reforming the lies being taught and maintaining the real education kids are supposed to receive.

I don't think they can last that much, lol and I'm Cuban. Especially now, every day there are programmed blackouts of 4 to 6 hours during the evening, long lines to get basic rationed food, and ramping inflation. It will be so much fun.

A friend of mine has a teenage son who came to him asking his father to donate money to some local cause. When my friend declined the son got indignant. My friend changed the subject and told his son he needed the garage cleaned out and he would pay him to do it. The son agreed and when the work was complete went to his dad to get paid. My friend said instead of giving the money to his son, he was going to donate it to the local cause the son had requested his dad fund. Needless to say the son went into a tirade about how he had been robbed and how unfair it was. The kid is sharp and he quickly realized that when you take money from Peter to pay Paul, you are not helping Paul and you are hurting Peter.

I believe Lenin referred to students like these as, “Useful Idiots.” You couldn’t get someone who has actual work and life experience to think that socialism is a good idea. First off, these students don’t differentiate ‘economic socialist policies’ with free stuff that has the monicker of ‘social programs.’ They tout the Scandinavian countries as these great examples of socialism, when in reality they have all (Exception is Norway with its oil fields) rejected socialism and are cutting back their social programs.
I liked the idea in kindergarden but when you learn peoples true nature that system can't work if all people were good and would work and help all for the betterment of everyone that it would workout but most people are greedy most people don't work unless they are getting something from it. that will lead to things falling apart no one will do hard work quality sill suffer. Better yet, when they say that socialism is "from each according to their ability, to each according to their need" and "the public ownership of the means of production" ask them to describe how the means of production would be operated in a way that doesn't also describe slavery.
Ask them about their GPA and to describe how hard it was to make those As and Bs. Once they’re finished telling about their grueling endeavors, ask them to sign a petition that calls for the redistribution of A and B grades to those who are failing or barely getting by so that everyone gets a C. See which high GPA students sign.

Me, too. We called that "Communism" and it had a seeming attachment to totalitarianism. To let the vague term of "Socialism" be assumed to be what we call Communism is the bad analogy, straw man, etc.
I realized in 7th grade, socialism/communism can't work because a majority of people are fundamentally competitive and driven. Even within a family structure, you have competition. My brother and I were constantly fighting over dumb stuff, like if my parents equally cut a cookie in half or it broke 49.5%/50.5%...because heaven forfend one of us get more chocolate chips than the other. Or whether a 3 minute drive counted as a full turn riding shotgun when my dad drove, etc. My brother was always competing with me in school, even though I was older. If I got a 91% in math, he would set a goal to get at least that grade or higher when it was his turn to take the course. You cannot drive the fundamental drive to achieve out of people.

These guys would go to communist rallies and parades in the USA and tell the wannbe commies what communism is really like and they do not want a communist country. The results? Then there is my daughters sister in law who is a socialist/communist. Said sister in law married a man who escaped from a communist country. What do they do? Me: " You're from a communist country?" Him: " Yes I am." Me: " How did you get to the USA?" Him: " I escaped from country." @@samuelschick8813 Quite a few people that flee from their corrupt country (or state) have a tendency to bring their ideologies/propaganda with them, not realizing that the failed system may have been the problem, and just not only the corrupted place where they fled from. A good example of that is people that move from heavily democratic states (who voted democrat) to republican ones (I.e. California to Texas) bring their socialist/democrat ways with them, voting democrat, and then watching as the city/state they currently live in suffers the same fate as the same one they left.

Being a janitor is a truly miserable job, I'd rather be the engineer even at the same pay, out of all of my jobs the min wage ones have been the toughest, least fulfilling and worst treated, and it's 10x worse outside of the west, I'm not saying they should be paid more than the engineer, but that jobs get way more comfortable and easier the higher up in wage they become

Maybe next time ask them if they would be willing to hand over their smartphone to a recent illegal immigrant, but yet they still have to pay the bill for that phone they handed over.
That's a great analogy. The only part is many of these people whose parents still pay for their schools are probably paying their cellphone plans as well but it is still a really good argument to use against the rest.
Plenty of my friends are like this and rant on about how bad it is and how people should get more from the system. Every now and then I offer to drive them down to the local soup kitchen or homeless shelter so we could directly help out and they always surprisingly decline.

History shows socialism is initiated voluntarily by people succumbing to the propaganda of its appeal in theory, but socialism cannot be managed without authoritarianism and eventually cannot be maintained without totalitarianism. In the end, you have only two classes, the rich and powerful authoritarians and the downtrodden, but equal, commoner masses. In the end. Socialism is only ever eradicated by either internal collapse, being conquered by others, or by revolution (which socialism, by design, will prevent by making the people powerless due to being disarmed, loss of free speech and no say in governance, policy or implementation).

Honestly, praying and peaceful protests can be effective. If we all went to streets in prayer it would be very impactful. (Obviously I’m not saying I support that). But the point is, even drinking alcohol was banned after peaceful protests on a grand scale. That’s no little thing. Obviously segregation was ended after many peaceful protests. Since what we support is true and good, we know someday it will win. Sorry, I am too despairing in my comments sometimes. Manufacturing has NEVER worked well in Communist countries, presumably due to the complete lack of worker morale-and the Soviets, North Koreans, Cubans, etc. etc., despite their claims, have NEVER been able to manufacture anything of decent quality (see Volga-their hilarious “masterpiece” cars, courtesy of the USSR!!!).

This is sadly true, as amazing as it seems that a survey was made among young people between 18 and 25 years old about what they knew about socialism, the result is that about 80% of them believe that socialism is a recent idea, about 25 % believe that Bernie Sander invented it, they do not know about Cuba, where socialism is really applied or the existence of the Soviet Union, when they are asked about historical events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall they do not know what it is about, they think EL MURO was actually a demonstration against the right, a rock concert or something else. I am from Venezuela, here XXI CENTURY SOCIALISM was imposed, the constitution guarantees things like free medical care and education, but the hospitals are in ruins, there are no doctors and the universities are at the point of closure. We Venezuelans change a democracy with many defects for a perfect dictatorship.

There are EIGHT levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a socialist system: 1) Healthcare - Control healthcare and you control the people. 2) Poverty - Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them. 3) Debt - Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will produce more poverty. 4) Gun Control - Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police state. 5) Welfare - Take control of every aspect of their lives (Food, Housing, and Income) 6) Education - Take control of what people read and listen to. Take control of what children learn in school. 7) Religion - Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools. 8) Class Warfare - Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to tax the wealthy with the support of the poor. ANY OF IT SOUND FAMILIAR?

I am from a third world country even fourth and i always thought a western person same my age would have higher mental capacity . I come across the definition of socalism in book at age 11 or 12 . With only the definition , i knew that it will not work . You should not need to present them specify example.
What does it say about someone who believes in a ‘system’ but can’t explain the basics of it? It also not surprising that when socialism affects them directly they aren’t as thrilled about it.
I asked a student intern at work about socialism. She said, "Yaaa, Socialism." I asked her her which Socialism she liked best: National Socialism: 30 Million Dead Soviet Socialism: 40 Million Dead Maoist Socialism: 65 Million Dead, and counting. She said she liked the nice, soft kind of Socialism, like Sweden. She was disappointed when I informed her Sweden was a Capitalist country with a small, mostly homogeneous population that funded it's generous social programs by mining the hell out of its vast natural resources.
Sweden is one of the most capitalis countries in Europe. On some metrics it is more capitalist than USA. It simply is so rich that it could spend much on social programs. People are very ignorant
Also in essence, socialism gives more power and control to the elites where only the extremely wealthy survive while the majority of people stay poor. Ask what happened in Cuba, Venezuela, and Cambodia. The ruling upper elites gain all the wealth while the civilians suffer. Yet these students don't have a flippin' clue of what's going on
Really people, I work hard for my money and these people want me to give it to others that don’t give a crap about freedom or anyones rights. There is no way I want to have this country end up like Cuba.
Students: We want Socialism. Presenter: Define, explain Socialism. Students: Look kids, if you think that you're going to confiscate my constitutional rights, money, my home and yes, my sailboat, you'll have to get past the barrel of my rifle first.

This mindset won't stop until men are no longer classed as "toxic masculinity" I don't hear a lot of women standing up for men on this front, but those same women will be screaming for "toxic males" to come and save them from what is around the corner.
You’re right Karl Marx!!! (That’s sarcasm) We don’t need “strong men” we need smart people. We need critical thinkers not people who can’t think critically to save their lives (like these students in the video)
Almost 100% of the time these guys hold these views until about a year or so after finishing college and they start paying income tax at a high level. Then these views largely disappear.
Growing up the joke was 'If your friends were jumping off cliffs, would you!?' I joked recently online that people would use mesh parachutes and jump off the top of the tallest building in the world if their friends were doing it and people thought I was like mental or something! Yes the same generation eating Tide Pods!
