Honestly, I couldn't even find this damn pattern editor without your video, thanks for showing the steps to open it. Most videos just straight to using it. Why is this so hidden lol?
I like to learn while doing and you did just that for me. Continue to teach while doing and assume we no nothing. The littlest details are often the questions we look for. Thanks.
I’m a Studio One user, I love the features, thanks for this video. Helping the community of music makers is essential. I hope to see more demonstrations of the music creation features in Studio One. Tune in Friday for Presonus special event at 10:00 CST on Facebook and RU-vid. Thank you again.
So this is really helpful, thank you. However, in the edit mode, where you select the instrument, I'm only getting a choice GM Drums (GEN MIDI drums)....even though I've dragged IMPACT XT into the track. How do I get that window to show (and map) the instrument into the pattern editor? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. I could not find a video to tell me how to do my hi hats using Pattern Editor with Battery but in Studio One. Yeah for me. Keep sharing and helping us newbies.
Very nice presentation! I'm feeling inspired. A question: if you create a melodic pattern, and you want to use the pattern but change the key, is there a fast way? For instance, you have a riff in C but want to go to the same riff in F. Thanks for the video.
The Major Problem with patterns is not being able to use the 'groove' editor with them only static swing. As a house producer this is essential to me. You can use the groove editor with the Midi drum editor though. Presonus needs to implement this because patterns are very good otherwise i'm stuck with the drum editor
Hello, May I ask a question please : Whan you have a signature in 6/8, why the pattern mode shows a pattern for 4/4? that would be a good feature request so the pattern view would match with the time signature
Yes, Just load an instance of Impact XT and right click the pads that you would like to change. You could also just use the blank XT format if you don't want to use any factory presets.
Great stuff, just got studio 5. is there a way of routing each drum hit to a dedicated mixer/console channel, or does the whole pattern go into one mixer/console channel. if not then i guess the other way is to have a separate track for each drum hit but the the word tedious comes into play here.
At 4:40 when I want to make a beat in loop ,my loop is strange it's playing and stop at the and ,before to restart again, how can I solve the problem?thank you
The reason why some people use the QWERTY keyboard to enter drum hits in patterns mode is accessibility. Not everyone has the motor control to use a mouse.
I wouldn't say I've switched. I still have and use Pro Tools when I need to. But Studio One has become my go to for sure. It is really awesome. It does need some improvements, like the ability to extract multiple audio tracks from a video clip. Pro Tools does this easily while it can't be done in S1. Although I'm sure not many people need that function. One of the things I really love about S1 is the FX chains. I can take my voice track for a RU-vid video, throw it in S1, drag my 'benoni SM7B voice' FX Chain onto the track, make minimal adjustments, and render. Then throw the audio into an NLE and start editing. It's so fast. Also really love the Patterns and Drum Editor. So much better than trying to use a normal piano roll to program drums. I don't regret buying S1 at all.
@@BenoniStudio Thanks for taking the time. I'm not surprised you like FX chain as a lot of protools users mention this one. Studio One seems to have the best workflow overall. That's why I'm switching. I can always go back to Cubase if it doesn't work out as planned. I might also switch to Reaper if they add chord track v.6.
At some point in time, I think with V4, all of a sudden S1 got really, really deep. It has been advancing at a rapid clip. And all good things too. I've been there since S1 V2 and it is simply stunning how it has matured. It started from a whole new code base by the german audiomeisters who cut their teeth on Cubase. But under the sponsorship of Presonus, they have gone balls out in developing this codebase It is now mature, but solid. Cakewalk, Cubase, even ProTools, are too rickety a codebase for future sucess. They are going to start looking very old in the near future. But of course, my opinion is just that. Your opinion and experiences might be different.
Instead of going to the menu, or right click menu, just hold the Alt key on PC and double click left mouse button to insert a pattern block where you want it or simply create a macro button for Insert Pattern that you can then assign to a shortcut key. That's much faster.
Not sure what you mean. You should be able to insert a MIDI part and start programming. If the keymap isn't showing you might try creating your own or go to Cloud - Pitchnames and download the keymap for SD
This is common to any pattern editor / step sequencer in any DAW: Resolution is the note length each step represents, and steps is the amount of steps for that specific pattern. So resolution and steps both at 16 means the pattern will be one bar/measure long, since it's 16 x 1/16 notes. 8 steps at resolution 16 would be half a bar, 8 steps at res. 4 would be 2 bars (8 quarter notes).. etc etc
This pattern editor is so disorganised. The fact you constantly have to change your drum pattern back when you create a new one is annoying, I wish presonus would change that.
