I've watched almost all of these great videos and really enjoy Francis's helpful laid back style. I've leant a lot about bass traps, reflective angles, speaker position, engineer's position and the basics of sound physics. Clearly the guys who have been rescued are very happy with the improvement in their mixes so why an obsession with "analysis software" when your ear tells you whether you like the mix or not. Thanks Francis, Vicoustics and Rode for a great series!!
I do enjoy these and I think this dude is a decent guy, I see no reason to hate...but it is getting a little redundant. I really wish they would go more in depth because I think the possibilities are there. Oh well..it's free! :)
John Jordan I understand what you are saying, but I think the point of this video series is to help beginner producers on a beginner level. Some of us are obviously more advanced.
0:05 Did, did he just place his left speaker in the corner? I don't feel like he's taking advantage of the symmetry of the room, and he's clearly not sitting in the sweet spot, the apex of an equilateral triangle. Should've put *Vicoustics* panels on the side walls to treat the angles of first reflection. I'm just joking around, I know this series follows the same exact structure every episode. And much of it is advertising, which is understandable when you're getting sponsored. But they're still fun to watch. Especially with the effort for putting in so many kitschy sound effects. Love it. :D They could've put in short before & after audio clips though, instead of just the visual/aesthetic aspect of the room though. Even if it was just something simple of an audio test or something.
I don't understand the hate...KRK are a VERY reputable brand that specialise in studio monitors and their variety of speakers vary from entry level to pro studio.
why are they not using some analysis software and showing before/after? This seems more like an add for Rode, than actual understanding and fixing. Better than not doing it- but still kinda cheap.
Just smash some Foam Tiles on my wall gimme the Mic and enooooooouuuuuuugh with the Tape Measure, now get out my Gaff a bit lively! aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh Have it right c'mon
i agree with francis 100% i've been using NT2000 in my studio in italy for almost 8 and half years i never replaced rode nt2000 for any other mic,it's a all purpose mic with very very clean and smooth sound!! hats off for "RODE MICS"

yeah i know... i'm aware of that, i have some KRK VXT6s sat infront of me right now lol, i'm talking about the rokit range in particular, not all KRKs. and yeah i would agree with you, m-audio's are shit aswell, i had some a little while ago and they were terrible.
Hi, We just Setup a New Studio.. its been 5 months now. How to Reduce the Eye Burning Sensation from New Studio. Any Solution to Reduce it ??? Please HELP HELP HELP .
nothing wrong witht he krk rokits at all, its a pretty decent monitor for the price, monitors is ALL krk makes so it has to be decent at least, krk has a model that even the more famous studios use, and they are better then M audio, foster auto technica, and more, they are just about standerd in the "home" studio, they have a pretty nice flat line for frequency response, anytime you see a video from a famous studio and has a speaker that has a yellow cone its prob. krk's
Most 'famous' studios don't use KRK's. There are many 'better' monitors in the price range of KRK Rokits, VXTs etc. I've never heard of Auto Technica or Fosters, i'm assuming you mean 'Audio Technica' and 'Fostex'. I wouldn't say KRKs are better than Fostex monitors. And they are DEFINITELY not better than Events. Also, just because a monitor is 'pretty big', it doesn't mean its good. KRK rokit rp8s are huge compared to my Adam A7Xs, but I can guarantee they're not 'better', so to speak.
I know this is a show but I love when he comes in the room and he is like "Hi Francis!" if it was me i would be like "Get the f..k out of here, you burglar!!!"
If you take a speaker box and then put it in another box. your automatically going to hear more bass and have problems with under mixing. Even with front firing bass ports.
I'm buying a house and moving into it in May 2020. There's a TuffShed in the back that I'd like to turn into a recording studio. It's a little bigger than 9'x11' inside. I have several years of experience as a hobby-level music recordist and voice actor, but want to make this space totally professional. It would be GREAT if your Studio Rescue team would come out and make it happen. I'm in southeast Kern County, California, about an hour north of Los Angeles. We could make a super-great video together. LLAP!
well... just wish they wouldve reviewed the studios they were going to repair so that everyone didnt have the same damn issues. Or maybe do some kind of sound check / difference, comparison. Or give out more unique musical equipment suited for the artist, (some are slightly different) Should have stopped watching these after the first one, theres no significant change. so fuck yeah im mad i wasted my time learning the same thing over and over. Its a good idea for a show just doesnt go indepth
And whats the problem with cutting a small hole in the panel for the light-switch and woala!, you got it in the right place! amazing! other than that great stuff :)
