Thank you!! I used Dupli-color plastic adhesion promoter. It, combined with a thorough scrubbing with dish soap and simple green seems to perform much better than previous attempts. There were a couple of spots, mostly in the cockpit area, where the paint didn’t lay down properly but other than that the rest of the model took taping like a champ! Here’s a link to the stuff I used. Enjoy! amzn.to/4aPwcPm
The difference between a recast CC X-Wing and the Captain's originals are that the lasers guns have brass cast into them. You have an original CC X-Wing there. Also, Scott made two version one withj those 'blocks' at the wing base already cast in palce and separate. You have a version #2 CC X-Wing. Mike Salzo bought the masters off Scott many years ago and refined the accuracy up to the "salzo v4" was the last I knew. Scott's (Cpt. Cardboard) story on the X-Wing being cast mostly from pyros has turned out to be inaccurate. Scott cast this X off the Icons X-Wing. It shares all the inaccuracies (Which is partly why Mike Salzo bought and refined the masters into a truly accurate X-Wing. Mostly refined int he belly area and he added landing gear. None of these are being cast regularly anymore. (Though you may be able to get a one-off from Scott if you know him.)
Wow thanks for this info! Good history lesson. The story behind all these types of kits, how they were made, refined, molds sold, etc etc is always fascinating.
For the engine lights, did you put a clear plastic piece between the LED and the engine piece, or is it just the LED in the center hole? I'm resin 3D printing an X-Wing now, and I'm going to do some minimal lighting (engines for sure, but not sure about the cockpit...)
Hi! I 3D printed a diffuser in clear filament for the engine lights. It seems to work nicely. For some reason I don’t have a RU-vid short of it but I did make an Instagram reel of you want to check it out here instagram.com/reel/Cr4RYr-gf26/?igsh=MW13NjM5dHJtYzg3aw==
Thank you!! If I didn't have such a back log of projects I probably would have attempted that haha. It'd be a cool feature for sure. This kit would have required a lot of custom parts to accomplish because you only got two sets of the s-foil hinge, one in attack position and one in the closed position. I think there are studio kits out there that have parts to manually open and close the wings, just not sure who produces them. That'd be a fun project for sure though. Thanks for watching!!
Haha. There’s only one real Sherpa in my world. I mean I’m not going to tell you which one but there’s only one. Bribes and breakfast quesadillas accepted.
I mean. Yeah! That would absolutely work. But you’d have to paint all those little lights. Seriously thought when it comes to fiber optic trees it’s usually a single rgb color changing led that lights all the fibers. I chose paint so I didn’t need to stuff a bunch of different colored LEDs into the model (it was a tight fit with just the one haha). Thanks for watching Eddie!
From George. Thats a great piece of work. You make it look so easy. The closest ill get to that scale is the large pre painted rather slightly weathered plastic snap together kit. By the size of the pilot my model looks either 1/32 scale or 1/25. Im still working on. No where near finished. As for lighting ive no idea. That's a great resin model built i wander if the lighting added is a kit? The scale is big i wander about that also. Im in Australia so other question where do i find that model? However i think by the price i imagine would be out of reach for me. Loved the build video now of to watch the studio scale Tie Fighter. Well done . Its a beauty! George from down under.😯👍🇭🇲🦘🐨
Hello! I got the kit off of eBay years ago. Here's a link to the new kit producer: modelermagic.com/kit-alert-new-from-larson-designs-lunar-models-studio-scale-star-wars-x-wing/. Not sure what shipping is like to Australia, it may be worthwhile getting into resin printing and just printing the models. There's a lot of good printers out there at relatively accessible prices, and printable model kits aren't too too crazy when it comes to prices. You can find files all over the place. I use a Elegoo Saturn resin printer (amzn.to/3I3GqP1) and have gotten some great prints out of it like this Chopper model ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wOcuMydeENY.htmlsi=6MnRalze8fCcFcaP. For the lighting, it's all custom installed and unfortunately I wouldn't even know where to begin in terms of creating a lighting kit. I could probably whip up a lighting diagram though in the next several days and share that! Thanks so much for the comments and watching the videos! There's more coming haha.
@@MADEbyAP Hi there from George down under. Thanks for all the info. I'm not sure I'll ever have a chance to buy a printer it all sounds great especially for model kits. Unfortunately for me I don't have any knowledge of how they work and when it comes to measurements on computer I'm lost. About buying from down under Australia yes that can be very expensive if I'm looking to buy something that doubles in ptice due to currency exchange and customs charges fees. But thanks so much appreciated. Your fortunate to have those studio size models. I may have to make do with the large snap together X-Wing as long as I can give good paint work as for the Tie Fighter there's the latest release of the 1/32 scale model that looks pretty good. Fantastic details.Take care. Regards George. Melbourne Australia.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨
@@MADEbyAP Hello from George in Australia. Not sure if I messaged thanks for the web sites you've sent. Not sure if I'll get around to buying a printer sounds absolutely smashing and I imagine it's fun to be able to make almost anything. If I can ask I've tapped like for your videos but I haven't subscribed yet I'm worried about fees. Is subscription free or is it both yes and no. Please forgive me about that. I'm not in a good situation financially so I kind of shy away if I'm not sure so to speak. Good show.👍✌️🇭🇲🦘🐨
Hey George thanks so much! Subscribing doesn't cost a thing. It's really just a way to make sure I show up in your feed when I upload new videos. Thank you!!
@@MADEbyAP Thanks for that note about subscription. However your videos do show up. As I watch one another does show up. Keep up those great Sta Wars Kits. I have to build the smaller kits but they are pretty detailed as I mentioned I do have the large 1/32 scale snap together X-wing Fighter but still working on that. It's got good details I just have to do better paint work. I haven't bought the 1/32 Tie Fighter still. I'm hoping soon. From George. Take care all the best from Down Under .👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
