Wow, I see what you were mentioning in another video: that purple fuel in your alcohol burner. Yikes! You simply need denatured alcohol for it. It is the cleanest burning of all. Best for wax carving. Love your bench - sweet! I hope you can get a proper fuel torch when you move!

I will definitely buy that instead! Thank you so much! 🙏🏻 and yes I have been wanting a smith little torch for a while but am trying to be strategic on which tools I upgrade and when, this is a pricy venture and the tools dream list is never ending 🙈😂

Hi, I feel like you are a younger version of myself,lol. I'm 63 and have only been a self taught jeweler for 2+ years. Although I haven't tried wax yet, I definitely want to. I share your concerns about marketing, etc., and it is daunting. I have a feeling you'll do well 😊 At least you started early in life, ha ha. I ve been an Artist all my life an have just found my real passion!

Your videos are so mesmerizing. I've been watching them on repeat since I found your chanel!! Gorgeous pieces, they are going to become someone's heirlooms for sure! Just curious, how do you get that opal out of the wax ring (before casting) without breaking the claws? I keep seeing jewelers do that, and my brain cannot comprehend how it works, you guys are some skilled artists!!
@MiteraMade
@MiteraMade Год назад
Thank you so much I’m so glad you’re enjoying them 🥹💜 I gently pry it out and the wax is usually hard enough for the prongs to not beak. If they do break, I use my little white soldering pin to solder them back on 🫶🏼☺️

Question, do you make the setting of the ring a bit bigger than the stone? I know with other methods you have to account for shrinkage but is that the case in lost wax casting? Or can you just make that part of the ring just the right size for it? Also, when making the prongs, I think in another video you said you would solder the prongs on so does that mean you remove them, and cast them separately from the ring? Or was that just for your soldered pieces? Last question, how do you remove the stone before casting? I see you carving the ring and prongs around the stone but how do you remove it? Does it just pop out? If the prongs go over the stone, as you did in the ring you made, how would you remove it? Is there a way to do it without damaging the prongs? Would popping it out suffice and not damage the wax? Thank you for your help! Your videos have been very helpful and your work is amazing. 🙌🏼 It’s really cool to hear about your humble beginnings and your growth. I love watching your content 🙏🏼

Great vid…! I don’t work with wax. So I was wondering how you get the stone out without damaging your work?
@MiteraMade
@MiteraMade Год назад
I gently pry it out with a little knife! 😊 sometimes I have to create a hole in the back, push the stone out and then cover the hole with more wax 😊

Hello great videos very informative. Can you tell me how you get the ring off the mandrel after you’re done making it? Mine stick. But I’m forming the wax on wood so that might be why.
@MiteraMade
@MiteraMade 7 месяцев назад
Thank you so much! I use painters tape on my mandrel, it makes it super easy to slide right off when you’re done ☺️

Hi, doesn't high temperature damage or discolor the stone? I am afraid to use this method on opal or moonstone or any stone that is not hard enough. Great style and videos by the way.
@MiteraMade
@MiteraMade Год назад
The I’m glad you liked the video, thank you 💜🥰 The hot wax doesn’t do any damage, I only get it hot enough to melt and then remove the stone before casting so don’t be scared to try it, gofor it! 🫶🏼😊💜

I get my wax from Cooks on Gold but you can also get some on Amazon! The blue wax is my favorite as it is hard but not too hard or soft. 💜 You’re never too old to do ANYTHING, I think you should absolutely give it your BEST! 🫶🏼💜

Hello, Mitra, don't be tired, you have a very nice and clean workshop, my dear, I am very beautiful and the works you make are excellent, my dear, which country and city are you, how old are you, and where did you learn all these things? Will you teach me, I want to open a workshop. But I don't have the capital to learn and work sometimes. What do you have to offer me to make jewelry with gold metal? Thank you, my dear, I love it.
