Hey Mike, did you see that yesterday Heather was detained by the FBI? I'm assuming you did, but in case not... She served 7 out of her 10 yr sentence in Bali and was scheduled to arrive in the US, specifically L.A. yesterday morning with her daughter and her lawyer was waiting for her. However, the FBI arrested her when her plane first arrived in Chicago. They charged her with Conspiracy to Commit Murder, stating the planning of her mother's murder actually occurred in Illinois. It was priceless! Extra: Today, 07/16, I did find some more information. There have been many delays in her trial, but I found out today that because it is in Federal Court, no cameras or audio will be allowed. So, we will only get sketches and newscasts from reporters in the courtroom. I was hoping it would be live streamed, but nope. UPDATE: On June 16th, 2023 Heather Mack pled guilty, in federal court to one count of Conspiracy to Kill a U. S. National - the 2014 death of her mom, Sheila Von Weiss Mack. Due to the plea, the other more minor charges against her were dropped. This was not what is called a "negotiated plea" which means that no agreement on sentencing was put in place. Due to the plea, the other charges were dropped, but that doesn't mean she is getting a specific or lower sentence. The maximum sentence for this federal charge is life in prison, but her lawyers are hoping that she will get no more than 28 years, hopefully less. According to all of the verifiable news reports. The judge will sentence her on December 18th. While her trial was delayed many times, the sentencing should not, so it is December 18th, 2023 for sentencing.

January 17, 2024 UPDATE: She's sentenced to 26 years in federal prison.

Her dad (who she apparently loved) would be heartbroken to see what she turned into, and that she killed the woman he loved

The girl would have been a literal millionaire had she waited 2 more years. There was absolute no reason for her to kill her mother. Like any reason is a good one..

She was released from prison in Indonesia 4 months after this video posted. When she returned to the US, she was immediately arrested. She is currently in prison in Chicago.

Damn, I live close to Heather. A few weeks ago, I was disgusted because the news media was trying to drum up sympathy for her when she was returning to Chicago. Gave air-time to her attorney and had a very sympathetic tone. Thank God Heather is facing court here now.

Her mother gave her everything and still she wanted more. The fact she only gets 10 years for murder? As well as dancing and laughing in prison makes me sick!

So…Heather gets to keep her baby for two years, only has to spend 10 years in “prison,” becomes a minor celebrity, and gets to spend her days wearing makeup and exercising? I fail to see the justice here. 😡

Postscript: when Heather finished her sentence in Indonesia, she was deported to the US. Upon arrival, she was promptly arrested, tried, convicted and is now serving a 26 year sentence in America. Well done.

Update: Heather is in a US jail awaiting trial for conspiracy to commit murder since the moment she and her daughter got off a plane from Indonesia in 2021. She had her daughter with her at the time. At the moment (June 2022) there are three women filing for custody over Stella, the daughter of Heather and Tommy: her paternal grandmother, Sheila's friend and the Indonesian woman who raised her while while Heather was in prison in Indonesia.

It's so sweet to know she didnt want to go back to America (because she would face charges there) but was deported from Indonesia. She was arrested again and will be charged with conspiring to kill a US national and faces up to 28 years. So thats a nice little piece of info to hear after the light sentence from this initial judge.

Now I'm scared for the daughter: Heather's twisted mind might see her as an obstacle for the money. That firing squad is looking real good about now.

I know if I were Stella (when she grows up), I'd be watching my back. If the psychopatic Heather was willing to kill her mum for that money, wouldn't be a stretch to think she might kill her own daughter for it...

So the judges logic in declaring ten years was in the best interest of the kid, who was to be with its mother in prison until two, then get taken away to another family and raised until ten, then get sent back to its psycho murderer mum who it will have no connection to...

shapelle corby, an australian convicted of smuggling marijuana into bali in 2005, was sentenced to 20 years and served 9 years in jail for that. this woman commits murder, and is only sentenced to 10 years - WHAT THE HELL INDONESIA?!

Disgusting woman. To say that her mother killed her father so as a reason to then kill her mother is just unbelievably hideous. The autopsy showed her 76-year-old father died of a pulmonary embolism (which have a fatality rate of a little over 99%). Just gross. Her father, who so adored her, would be just horrified at Heather's little speech.

I hope you will be happy to hear that while she didn't even do all of her sentence in Indonesia, she was arrested the second she came back to US and earlier this year plead guilty to conspiracy to murder a US citizen. Shes facing up to 28 years, which I hope she will get (and the videos of her havign a grand ol time in Indonesian prison and not taking it seriously at all will help with that).

Early in the story we hear how Indonesia takes murder very seriously, even using firing squads. But yup here we go again. The female ringleader and instigator gets 10yr and her boyfriend 18yr. Sounds like justice to me

This is an awful story. It's been on the news lately since Heather is back in the US now. I'm a Chicagoan and several years ago by chance I met Tommy's mother. I can tell you personally, that woman is absolutely broken by what Heather and her son did and where Tommy ended up. I believe he's still in jail in Bali today. Every time I see anything about this case I think of that poor woman, not to mention Sheila. It's all very tragic indeed.

UPDATE : 18th JANUARY 2024 Heather Mack just today sentenced to 26 years in Federal Prison in Chicago after being released after serving 7 years in BALI and being deported to the USA. Immediately arrested upon arrival and now doing real, Non celebrity time in Illinois. Get in!! The boyfriend still in BALI - the daughter is 8 years old.

The irony of the Indonesian judge only sentencing Heather 10 years because “ a child should not live without her mother”. Tell that to Shiela you sorry representation of the law.

Well she only served six years got out for good behavior but as soon as she got off the plane with her daughter in Chicago she got locked up and is waiting for trial .That’s what she gets crazy shit SMH

I read that when the dad died in Greece, it was reported that his body was left in the morgue and Heather and her mother continued with their vacation. Is there any truth to that? It was also reported that Sheila denied her husband’s children from previous relationships access to him. I’m guessing when Sheila made Heather have two abortions she believed that she was doing the right thing. Also, keeping the dad’s estate from her even though he had willed it to Heather. If all these things are true, this family was clearly very dysfunctional. It’s very sad that it came to this. I’m not sure Heather Mack should be on the streets but she also clearly needs some mental help.

It's interesting how narcissists who go to prison for murder become spiritual leaders. Would love to know more about that. She's definitely a sociopath right? I wish we got interviews or videos from the bf while he was waiting trial too. How did he get her to take all the blame? I need a psychiatrist friend

This case is pretty infuriating. Heather's obviously an absolute monster. She's shown zero remorse, outright stated she doesn't regret it. She's over there having fun, dancing, being a semi celebrity. Got to have her child with her for 2 years. Only sentenced to 10 years. There is zero justice in this.

I could see this woman killing her daughter if it meant getting access to that money again. They better keep a close eye on her after she gets out. And only 10 years -- what an unbelievably short jail sentence for what she did.

Update she was arrested in Chicago and is now facing the same charges here. Her lawyers are trying say double jeopardy but she was not tried or convicted here. So we will see how that plays out.

This angers me because Sheila escaped the death penalty by being a mother. Meanwhile, Mary Jane Veloso, a woman who was wrongly accused of being a drug trafficker, is still on death row even though she herself is a mother and breadwinner back home in her country. Sick.

I can’t say that I am relieved that neither got the whole firing squad. The world is not a better place for either of these bottom-feeders being in it.

As of this month she has been sentenced to 26 years in prison with her prison time in Indonesia not considered. Her daughter Stella is now 8 and being raised by a cousin who testified earlier this month she wants nothing to do with Heather after being told why she doesn't have a grandmother. Heather will also pay hundreds of thousands in punitive damages. Her boyfriend is still in Indonesian prison and will be charged as Heather was the moment he is deported to the US.

"No cameras! Why is the media here?" Spoken with the true intonation of a spoiled brat. It goes to show where Heather's priorities were. IMHO, Sheila should have moved Heather out of the home into her own apartment, with a small trust fund for her support and education. And then said "that's it -- permanently. You're not in my will or insurance. I love you, Heather, but it's time you are free to live your life as you choose."

I knew Heather when we were toddlers. There was a picture of her and I in my bedroom from when we did gymnastics in Oak Park. When this event happened, my mom told me she shredded that photo because it gave her such horrible vibes. I don't blame her.

She better go back to trial when she gets back to the US. I would not leave that baby in her care after saying the money will go to her child.

Update. She was released a couple of months ago and her and her daughter flew back to the US. She was immediately arrested and her next hearing is in less than a week. The daughter, now 6 is with a non family guardian who is part of the legal team. Tommy's mother is angry she wasn't granted custody of her granddaughter.

I can't get over that cavalier attitude of hers.
