As far as I have seen and heard the Stuka was fairly one dimensional in the fact it could dive bomb and terrify the citizens with its siren but was also fairly slow and sluggish with no facility or agility for dog fights. But numerous pilots seem to have had a measure of success with it.
@@djangorheinhardt Stuka is a dive bomber, not a fighter plane. No bomber plane is good at dogfights, because they are not meant for that task. The stuka was a good bomber tho.
I remember older people's stories as a kid during the 80's of how they saw German POW's at train stops during WW2 and remarking that they'd never seen such healthy, tanned, slim, and handsome set of men before. One German POW remembered being on a train and stopping at a station and some random civilian said 'Frohe Weinachten' to him-Merry Christmas. There were lots of people of German descent in the US and Canada. The POW's first lesson was how many days of rail travel it took to get them to the different camps throughout North America-impressing on them just how vast the continent was compared to Europe.
He neatly forgets that the leader of the Boers the warrior statesman Jan Smuts fought with his South African Defence Force alongside the British in many World War One campaigns.......against the Germans.
