Use leverage, just pull the whole tree over. It's a lot easier. Nature up roots trees. Does it ever uproot stumps ?

No people always put fences where the trees grow, sometimes using them as a post and saving money and time. Just an old farmer here.

Just a truck is not enough. You also need to yell profanities at the stump while hitting the gas. I’ve found that screaming, “Get out of there, you sumbitch!” will let the stump know you mean business.
