One of my most cherished memories as a plane spotter. I captured "Speedbird Concorde 3" landing on August 3, 2003, at age 13, while standing on top of a Lincoln Navigator to have an unobstructed view over the perimeter fence along JFK's runway 13L-31R. I had seen Concorde land from the terminal a few times, but never this close. To see this sleek, futuristic beauty coming up from the southwest and hooking in on the Canarsie Approach was surreal. The high approach angle and the signature touchdown "swoosh" of tire smoke that curls outward, upward, and then inward! When the 4x Rolls-Royce Olympus 593s went into reverse, it took all of my strength to hold the shot! I'm glad I did.

The Concorde is amazing, but what amazes me the most is the fact that it took only 60 years to mankind to evolve from the Wright Flyer to this beauty flying at 2+Mach. The capacity of the human being is absolutely stunning.

Really glad to have flown on Concorde from Bahrain to London c. 1978. None of the seats in the upright position and stow trays nonsense -- the captain said over the intercom -- "Ladies and Gentlemen, we are about to take off so please hold your champagne glasses firmly."

Worked for British at JFK back in the late 70s. Just being on the plane, or watching it taxi, pulling into the terminal, was thrilling. It was a beautiful piece of machinery for sure.

They are bringing 1 Concorde back to fly. A team of British Concorde fans have raised £120 million so far. I would fly on it. I can't wait.

How can any viewer put a thumbs down to this? I flew on Concorde and it was fantastic,like no other aircraft and the take off was like sitting in a F1 car only this went a lot faster!!

@@edwardmarcusgibson4034 It actually had a perfect safety record before it's infamous crash, and that was because of a piece of runway debris (ironically from a DC-10) and not because of the actual aircraft, so in reality it's one of the safest flying machines made.

i'd have cried seeing this live. the look of it on final approach, absolutely insane. i honestly can't believe that there have been a whopping 50,000 flights of Concordes over the years. as someone who was born in 1993, it feels to me like this plane is something out of a dream, that it never actually flew... but, behold, there it was! i wish there was some 4K spotter footage though!

I feel really fortunate to have seen her in action a few times. I have print photos of AF and BA landing at JFK, and this priceless video. When the reverse thrust kicked in it was the loudest thing I’d ever heard. So glad I held the shot!

Without doubt the most beautiful airliner to ever grace our skies, back in the 1970's I remember watching concorde fly over on its final approach to manchester airport and as I looked around me EVERYBODY had stopped whatever they were doing and were all staring up at the sky, no other aircraft has the magic to do this.

Thank you so much for posting this video. When Concorde first flew it made PR flights across Britain. We were allowed out of schoolrooms and out to the playground to watch Concorde take a low pass over Edinburgh Scotland. It was an awe inspiring sight as it flew over. Such a engineering feat and it carried our flag. I wish she still flew the skies at 60,000 feet, high above the rest of the commercial planes of the world.

Incredible. That reminds me of when I was in grade school, and whenever the Space Shuttle was landing at Edwards AFB in California we would go outside and try and watch it fly over our school, and then come inside and watch the landing on local news.

I love the fact that the Concord comes in at a high speed and high angle of attack because the delta wing cannot produce enough lift at low speeds👍🏿

I saw the last BA Concorde landing at IAD in October of 2013. It was a month or so after AF Fox-Alpha flew into IAD on it's trip to display at Udvar-Hazy. Miss hearing and seeing Concorde in the skies over Loudoun county, Virginia.

Used to fly over my flat at 5.00pm every night LHR - JFK when I lived on the Millbank next to the Tate Gallery in London. Flew straight down the Thames then banked away out East. You could hear it over the roar of the rush hour traffic and it never lost its magic every time I saw it. I used to look straight out of my window at the MI5 building and straight up to see Concorde, left to the Tate Gallery and right to the Morpeth Arms pub. You don't get more British than that.

A mere 63 years after the Wright Brothers' first flight, supersonic passenger jets were in the air. And the perfect delta wing was designed by geniuses on paper without the help of computer-aided design, which was still a few years off.

Technically good but as a passenger airliner failed as soon as a Jumbo 747 took off & utterly wowed everyone. Concorde was for the rich & famous & 747 the people, which ruled for 50yrs.
