Oh my gosh! Thank you , thank you, thank you! On our evening garden stroll around the yard I was just noticing the short stems on some of our tulips. I too like to make bouquets to share and was concerned about the stems. Aha - mystery solved by Bobbi (and Andrea and Danielle!). Will get watering straight away and see how it goes. Bobbi, the sweet little bouquet you made for your home is beautiful even if it doesn't have the long stem length that you wanted. I haven't planted tulips for several years because the bulbs rotted in my planters... probably due to this gardener's error of over-watering them by piling excessive snow on them. ~Margie🤣🤔🤗

Great video Bobbi! I love the transparency. We’re always learning! I love the flower farming community and how we can lean on each other and learn from one another. Another tip (if you didn’t already do it) is to pull the bulb when harvesting. Since the bulb is buried a few inches this will give your stem a little more length. I bury mine about 6-8 inches when I plant in the ground. It’s almost like an insurance policy to make sure the stems will be long enough for cut flowers. Hope this helps someone! 🌷

Tulips are gorgeous but I'm heading toward daffodils instead. It's a wonderful thing for you to grow and giveaway as cut flowers. I'm glad you reached out to friends who could help. Hi Bobbi, same thing happened to me with Purple Prince tulips. I thought it was me, since it was the first time I grew tulips. I was also not watering my tulips because I was afraid of them rotting. Lesson learned! Thanks so much for sharing this information and your experience. ❤

So glad I found this video! I bought some tulips on sale and planted in pots in January. Mine are really short also, I’m assuming because they didn’t get enough cold temperatures and moisture. Another lesson learned in my new garden 🤷‍♀️💐❤️

We have the same issue here is zone 6A. Since our zones are getting warmer, we have to adjust I guess.

Maybe we should all just refrigerate our bulbs from now on 😉 Mine are just leaves so far 😑
