I got a 2000 model today and my power switch is a bit unresponsive at times. That and i always have to fiddle with the hold switch to pause games or quit to the psp menu. Any fixes to this?
I replaced the shell because it was in a bad condition and replaced the analog because of the drifting problem .. when I finished most of the buttons and the analog itself was not working. I tried to open it multiple times to see what's the problem was but still didn't figure it out 😢 I kept the original buttons in instead of the ones that came with the new shell
My psp dpad and the analog stick don’t work any suggestions I’ve opened it and cleaned the buttons and analog stick and I’m not sure how to mess with the connections to makes sure they are connected to the motherboard or if I should replace them all together
Analog stick you’ll probably have to replace, not sure exactly about the dpad, if you don’t want to diagnose, I’d just get a new one too. Most of these parts are super cheap.
@@ottie4290 I wanna try but I don't have screwdriver and I'm confused about the size Can you tell me the name of the screwdriver for psp 3000 I'm from India
my start button stopped working. Ive had the same problem with select a few time ago, but I managed to fix it. However when I tried to do the same thing with the start one, it still not working. I replaced all the buttons panel and its still not working
I got a 2nd hand psp that won't get past the opening date and time setup. The X button isn't doing anything for me. Is it just a case of doing what you did and scraping that area to make a new contact? I'm stuck between fixing it or just selling it
@@jellyfish7751 Hey. In the end I've done neither 😂. At the moment it's in storage. I tried to follow this video's instructions but all the screws are stiff and won't budge so I can't even get into the console 🤦♂️. I'm keeping it around though just in case I try again as I think the fix could be simple. Any ideas for stiff screws? I don't want to break the back of it 😂
@@MikeyJMJ I just tried it, it didnt work for me. the contact surface also does look different inside my psp so... i think there is no more use to it. its just plastic so the srews cant rust or anything u should just try a little bit harder but dont make the head round otherwise you have a bigger problem. have a great day man and greetz from germany :D
@@jellyfish7751 I'll definitely give it another try. The screw heads aren't round yet so that's good news. It was worse on my gameboy advance, I ended up having to buy a replacement part 😂 Have a good evening from Ireland 👍
That’s how buttons work. Each button has a break in the circuit. When you press down the button, you continue the circuit and that’s how a press is registered. When I touch the needle pliers on the button, I am completing the circuit. Sometimes there is corrosion and debris on the buttons which don’t allow the circuit to complete when you press down.
@@ottie4290 ah I see, now that I realized that this is PSP1000 and mine is PSP2000, so the buttons on PSP2000 are made differently, those can't really be fixed just by scratching the plastic surface. Great video anyway, thank you.
@@robertusreynaldi6672 Remember its not a plastic surface, its metal. Every button in the world operates effectively the same. I would give it a try if you are having that issue.
I just realized my comment is misleading because as I have done in the video, you need to have the battery in place to test the buttons by completing the circuit. I removed that comment since it is not applicable here. Thanks for bringing that up!
to help eveyone none of my buttens were working so you have to turn on the power but only slide it to the middle not to the hold butten then might work
Try the same thing. Remove the L button, then remove the rubber padding, and then scratch the metal contacts for that button. Remember, all buttons operate the same!
bought my psp several years ago and only had it for less than a month and the x button quit working, i tossed it back in the box and put it in the back of my closet until today, for some reason today i feel motivated to get it working. i played it less than 10 times its basically brand new, the thing that had me baffled is it was in a drawer in a protective case nobody touched it and it just broke its self lol, nobody went near it..i was seriously unimpressed with the quality. hardly got to enjoy it.
@@ottie4290 bro does it really work pls reply, my x button is sometimes not working but not a major deal for now I'm scared it won't work anymore in the future pls reply
READ THIS COMMENT If it’s a problem, in which none of your action buttons are working, and the power light isn’t working, your power switch board may be faulty, and you might have to replace it.
@@alexandersimonelli5586Not power card, but the power board within the actual psp. I replaced mines to see if it would work, but unfortunately didn’t work for me. I can’t promise it will work for you either, but it is a suggestion
@@alexandersimonelli5586 Oh so your buttons worked after cleaning them? Have you tried what the guy in the video did and scraped off a bit of the contacts? You should try do what he did
