The first time I heard this song, I was living in the back of an old Ford pickup at a truck stop near Moorcroft, Wyoming and I thought it was the greatest song I'd ever heard.
It’s definitely ONE of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Has a great Waylon Jennings feel, but Sturgill makes it even better! Live when says “come on now” to his lead guitar player just before the guy ‘goes off’. That’s some badass guitar playing.
I’ve be a fan since 2015 when old Merle said that this youngster, Sturgill Simpson, was about the only thing new worth listening to in country music. How right he was!
This guy single handedly got me into country. Ive been a metalhead/rock guy for my whole life and the furthest i ever went with country with Skynyrd (if you even consider them country) until Sturgill. Now im listening to Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams, Colter Wall, ect.. All it takes is one phenomenal artist to open you up to a whole genre
I been there and lived this song before. I ad an ex gf tell me one morning that she is leaving me. She was sure surprised when i said "ok hold on to that thought". Then grabbed my cell and called dispatcher Jerry and asked what di he have leaving out right now. 5 minutes late he called me back and said "Hey Dave how does Santa Anna sound? i got a load of Kitchen Kompact ready to go you need to get on it though. Give me the word I'll have you hooked up and ready by the time you get here. How does that sound?" and i said responded "i'll be there in in hour and half" Then i looked her and see ya later have a good one and i was gone.
You guys need to try paul cauthen "cocain country dancing" then "holy ghost fire" live performance. Paul is a stud. Sturgill is gold. Love listening to both.
About time someone knows how to sang good country music with old school style. Really enjoyed listening to him and all his stuff. Now that's a future star in the making
This is real country! They play a few Sturgill songs on the local radio station here by Fort Worth. I don't know how he hasn't blown up liie some of the other bands. I would live to see him live! Please go on tour soon!!
He’s been all over the place musically since this masterpiece of a country album. He’s done R&B, Rock, and most recently bluegrass. The sad irony of the greatest country artist of our time not even liking to play country!
It's been quite a roller coaster ride, but I've grown and learned a lot about myself.I'm very thankful for your constant love and support always❤.yes I can
I won't be 'round this old town Anymore for a long long time Gonna hit the road and start looking for the end of that long white line Gonna hit the road and start looking for the end of that long white line I woke up, my baby was gone, without her I don't need no home Gonna hit the road and start looking for the end of that long white line Gonna hit the road and start looking for the end of that long white line Went to the bank to get my dough I don't care where I go Gonna' push this rig 'til I push that girl out of my mind If somebody wants to know What's become of this so-and-so Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line New York City, Old St. Joe Albuquerque, New Mexico This old rig is humming and rolling, she's a-doing fine If somebody wants to know What's become of this so-and-so Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line, go home now! New York City, Old St. Joe Albuquerque, New Mexico This old rig is humming and rolling, she's a-doing fine If somebody wants to know What's become of this so-and-so Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line I won't be 'round this old town Anymore for a long long time Gonna hit the road and start looking for the end of that long white line Tell em' I'm somewhere looking for the end of that long white line
I been truckin hard for goin on 30 years now .....and I'll let yall in on what I've found to be true .....the long white line never ends ....THANK GOD !!! THE ONLY TWO CONSTANTS IN MY LIFE OVER THE YEARS HAS BEEN JESUS CHRIST AND THAT LONG WHITE LINE ....
Hooked on this song lately. Albeit he sounds exactly like Waylon. I ain’t mad about it, I am just glad we have some young performers that still love the old timey style.
guitarman Nance yes he does, in the song “Hard Times”, I love the line, “ and I heard somewhere there’s work up in Hindman, I’m going tomorrow and hope that there is “ ..... gives me chills every time...
This dude has balls! As a Christian, I do not like using that, and probably should not have, especially depending upon what fundamentally it could mean or could come across to someone as meaning. For that, forgive me. However, where his music is concerned, it's almost a parodied, but truthful tradition and translation of country music, in which A LOT of folks have been missing for quite some time now! It's definitely a breath of fresh air, and I am absolutely and thankful for both his chutzpah and his conviction! This, alone, is what country music has been missing for the better part of 20 to 25 years by now! It's not wasn't just about tradition, although I think that this aspect is a close second, but the song gets a bit of pure and traditional COUNTRY AND WESTERN music, and perhaps the singer-songwriter back into the picture! I adore that! This dude is great! If a person doesn't write their own songs, then I instantly lose ALL interest! By the way, people are all the time asking me why I would care who writes their stuff, so long as you (I) like the song, and while a good song is a good song, I want to know the individual singing it is its creator...and besides, the folks who inquire this are those who have NEVER had the gift, the craft, or the capacity to construct a single line at any point in their lives, and simply don't get it! And I'm not at all trying to be unkind...just saying...and observing! Truth is ALWAYS worth surveying! Peace,in Christ Jesus, eternally!!!
My God all the artists out here bringing the old country sound back. They have been out the for years but I didn't listen to country music for along time. That crap they play on the radio made me completely lose interest. It's a great day to be alive!!
