Just FYI, Undertaker's "speaking in tongues" for the Ministry of Darkness was actually him reciting a chant from the movie, Excalibur. The chant was a spell to King Arthur by Morgana La Fey played by Academy Award winner, Helen Mirren.
Nah it really wasn’t. Crowd died during the match. You’re just looking it at it with rosy glasses because of that table overrated bump that Taker messed up
I think the WM 14 match would have been a bigger deal if it was Undertaker that first took Kane off his feet. He had a pretty competitive match with both Mankind and Vader leading up to that. In hindsight he should have absolutely destroyed those two guys so that undertaker beating him would have been a bigger deal
As an Undertaker fan, the best year for me was 1998 as he was absolutely untouchable both as a character and as a wrestler, his whole look to the entrances especially at Wrestlemania 14 which i still say to this day is his greatest ever, everything about the Lord of Darkness persona screamed epic and he was so over, when the lights went out and that gong hit, the pop he got was unbelievable to the point that it almost rivaled Stone Cold. He had excellent feuds with Mankind, HBK, Stone Cold, Kane and memorable promos with Vince McMahon & Paul Bearer. I just wished that he captured the title one more time in 1998 as he was red hot but i understand and respect that it was Stone Cold's time. Whether he was a heel, tweener or as a face, Undertaker was unstoppable and a huge part of the attitude era.
When they are revealing the DNA results for Kane and Paul, I wanna believe that Paul’s real kids at home were jumping for joy knowing that Kane was their new brother.
7:00 "we had to wrap up Shawn and undertaker before we could move to undertaker and kane" imagine that... a time when they FINISHED one storyline before they moved on.
@@ciaranmurren yes. no one ever got sick until the evil covid was unleashed upon us. i cant wait until it is gone and we are back in a world where everyone is happy, healthy, and most importantly, no one ever got sick
I loved the Inferno Match. JR and The King's commentary was great that night especially when the flames shot up every time they took a big bump in the ring. I remember Taker was almost set on fire when after he went for old school. Bad timing on the pyro guy for that one. Also: Conrad said "But you still can't run the ropes" Did Conrad see the Inferno Match? Because they did run the ropes - many times.
Meltzer can be such a tool. Two giants, in a ring surrounding by fire for fifteen minutes, aren't going to be doing much fighting anyway. And oh by the way, two smaller guys wouldn't be doing a bunch of his spots either because...................................THE RING IS SURROUNDED BY FIRE!!
Why does everyone get 1999 Ministry Undertaker mixed with 1998 Phenom Taker in photos?...Theirs always one clear as day difference right on his face that differs the two lmfao
Haha "the tear drop" I've noticed that myself but 98 is where the seeds got planted for the ministry undertaker. Honestly I like the ministry theme v1 the best. Loved the intro.. wasn't a fan of the later versions with him speaking in tongues.
Undertaker had a great 1998. I thought Undertaker should have turned prior to Summerslam. He could have been so desperate that he sold his soul to Mr. Mcmahin to become 3x WWF Champion. The fact that 2 ppv matches went to no contest with Undertaker and Kane told me that Vince was hell bent on recreating the Montreal screw job at Survivor Series.
Taker wasn't heel until the finish of the Judgment Day match. Taker and even Kane recieved much "Face" reaction after assaulting Vince on Raw. Taker's heel turn didn't begin until the chair shot to Kane at Judgment Day.
@Bryan Mack That may be true, but it did start and evolve into the Ministry Era which I personally enjoyed (until Vince was revealed as the higher power). Did you dig the Ministry stable / angle?
I saw Virgil over the weekend. I told him he needs to watch Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard. He said "Fuck Bruce Prichard. I'll beat his ass". I called him a jobber and he walked away.
1998 is one of the pinnacle years in wrestling during this time, it was bigger than professional sports such as the NFL and the NBA anytime you watched wrestling in the year of 98. You did not know what you were going to see it was a roller coaster ride and I liked what they did with the undertaker in 98 and 99 they gave him a fresh modern more Gothic look and they gave him a new theme song which I thought was pretty cool. I remember the build up to summerslam 1998 I seen it live on ppv and I thought the match against Austin was good. It was one of the last good summerslams also in 1998. This is when WCW started to lose the ratings and at this point the WWF was the better brand
I agree with Bruce, those finishes were super creative! every1 bitches about the clean finish but it's not really about that... it's about the story!! And it continues the story, keeps u interested
I hope Bruce has stock in SWC because anyone who wants to hear what he has to say must be subjected to ample amounts of Conrad's paper chase. If Prichard isn't profiting off of that then Conrad is pimpin him
I love listening to Bruce and Conrad, but I thought Undertaker vs Kane at WM14 was a great match. One of the most underrated non-title co main event matches in Wrestlemania history. Two 7 footers working together one on one for the first time (in those characters). They told a great story, brawling, wrestling, submission attempts, and even a couple of high spots. No weapons, no interference, no ref bumps, no major cheating... and these guys delivered a masterpiece. I loved that match!
I was there for the Judgment Day match, and it was awful. The match was boring, and the fencing in place where Vince was brought out had telegraphed all night that Steve was getting fired. The story being told did NOTHING to salvage it. The best part was when Steve went and sat in the corner half way into the match openly looking bored out of his mind.
Taker had a good 1998. I get that people are tired of wrestlers who switch between babyface to heel frequently - though I think late 98 was the first time Taker was a heel in six years - but Dave's comment about people not caring about the Dead Man didn't age well.
Yup... Flair, or other wrestlers, selling mortgages is more acceptable... but if I ALSO see that animated ad, I will keep listening... but be marginally inconvenienced. We're 2020s smart marks, we know every character that the Godfather portrayed and that some peopleloved the Z Man Tom Zenk... but you actually think we'll forget that the host can also consolidate our debt, get us a shortened mortgage, lower our interest rate, and buy a buncha memorabilia, and maintain a house with a elevator. We get it. More 'rassler cameos make it entertaining.
@@josephjames2011 Gotten that it's a Hellraiser cover/Pinhead/Undertaker photoshop? It's an interesting idea. Love Clive Barker. Too bad they never did any dark horror storylines in WWF/E.
Undertaker the greatest funny in all the shows ye go on about austin rock dx during atitude era and talk about everyone hbk bret etc and never mention undertaker he is greatest biggest star ever in history
"Pete Rose was a huge celebrity, especially at that time." I know Bruce isn't a big MLB fan but...Rose's prime was the 70s, he broke the career hit record in 1985 and was banned from baseball 1989. 1998 wasn't exactly the height of Pete Rose's noteriety.
I've had to stop listening to newer episodes as much. Bruce and Eric just bitch about Meltzer for too long. We get that they don't like them but damn almost half the episodes are dedicated to them sitting on Meltzer everytime his name gets brought up
and most the time it's wrong... like the Jerry Springer thing... ok they didn't do Jerry bit they did do the angle, just with a reg doctor... so it would seem to me that the Jerry Springer thing isn't to far to believe
They wouldn't bitch if Conrad didn't always use Meltzer's opinion and read it out to them. We don't care about Meltzers opinion. We are here to see behind the scenes, not assumptions.
@@johnjandoh6732 uou sound like you've drank the kool-aid. Meltzer usually has the scoop. I also do listen again but I take stuff with a grain of salt because bruce will say one thing and ten other people will say another. He's a good story teller and has good stories but im not sure I can fully believe him, especially now that he has to kiss the wwe's ass
Conrad said in the beginning they were planning 98-99, but the notes were so much that they were likely only going to get through 98. Then at the end said 99 is coming soon (which means next year in STW speak). But still they addressed it. And then obviously Bruce got a terrible call in there somewhere, so that may have played a factor as well.
Unbelievable... condomrag has figured out a way to put an ad in video while also having ads in between the ads. These shows are absolutely unwatchable because of this at this point and you deserve the downvote!
