As a Milwaukee native, I'm mad that I didn't get to go to that show either. However, I did get to go to the *1996 King Of The Ring* at the Mecca Arena (UWM Panther Arena.) I was also at the RAW where Austin made Vince pee his pants. XD

I always thought the use of WWE's truck trailers as Titantron screens at the entrance was a touch of pure genius. Too bad they never used that setup more often.

I agree, that nwo return was tough because wcw lost the war and it felt forced as if it was there and they said mehh why not. I think it did set up a fun run for hulk ,he was not unbeatable and it got him over, I think razor and a diesel return would be great , unfortunately it would been very hard to get them back over because they came across real as Nash and hall. I think if it would have worked razor vs stone cold sounds way better. Hogan had a epic match with rock,it put him over big again as a face naturally,y'all went with it which was the right move, his run was so fun. I consider that the best run he had because he could be beat but he's still hulk and can beat anyone. Angle tapped him out. That is one of the most underrated moments ever. I mean when did a face Hogan ever tap. Btw I'm from Houston and been a fan forever. I was at the no way out in Houston. Thx for saviooo Vega as mystery man lollll Shawn was missed but the main event tag was a fun hardcore match live. I've been to many events at this point. My all time is easy WM 25. Taker vs Shawn. That 45 minutes was the most entertaining thing I've ever seen. Masterpiece match ,booking intros , everything about that was a moment. The stadium had such a energy. It was the one match where everyone was invested live. Absolutely everyone. We thought Shawn was really going to do it when beforehand we all said taker. From his intro people in the crowd were ready. Shawn in white coming down taker coming from below. Then Shawn kicks out ,that may be the best false finish ever. I've seen a lot live and that stands above them all.

This is insane! I'm a hardcore WWE fan from the 80's. I was switching during the Monday Night Wars to watch Hall/Nash. When the NWO came to the company I was invested.

23.1 on TV is like The Super Bowl or a Presidental Debate. 1 out of 4 TV in America is watching. Maybe 35 years ago Hogan vs Andre rematch would draw such a number.

"I was living a little too fast and been a little bit burnt out, was a little bit on the edge, but had they booked that match with myself and Hogan, I think that I might have shot that match down because of how the booking was going to go on who was going to win and who was going to lose." - Stone Cold The Steve Austin Show, Episode 159 October 14, 2014

He has later said that once he saw what Rock and Hogan did in the ring and how they were able to tear the house down by basically doing round about nothing, he realized that he blew it by turning it down.

I think Scott Hall coming back was a big deal. I think Hogan & Nash coming back was a big deal. If Hall had came back as Razor Ramon it would have been huge. But had all three came back as their WWF characters eventually they'd have reunited them as the NWO. So them coming back as the NWO was the right call. Had Scott Hall not had his issues I think once the NWO ran its course he could have came back as Razor. RIP Scott Hall

They ruined the nWo run, by having Hogan go babyface so soon. I was invested in the nWo, and the storylines up until Wrestlemania were very good. But Hogan should have stayed heel! After Hogan got out of the nWo obviously the interest disappeared. When you take one of the 3 out, it stops making sense. When I watch the classics, I usually watch that part of 2002 a lot.

Bruce sounds completely out of touch when he says things like Diesel and Razor Ramon would have been a better return than Hall and Nash. Either that or he's fooling himself. Conrad's right in that wrestling fans up to that point were very much aware of both WCW and the WWF product. The WWF wasn't drawing sh*t when Diesel and Ramon were there so the notion that the nWo didn't work because the crowd was more WWF fans is complete bs considering nWo is what grew and blew up the business. The crowd was very much aware of WCW product which anyone can see if you watch the night Vince brought WCW and started naming WCW wrestlers he would bring in and they would get huge pops. The real problem was the way they were bringing them in. The nWo came in 96 to WCW with a hostile takeover. They felt like a threat. In 2002, Vince talks about how he is going to take drastic actions and blow up the company then has these guys coming in talking about how they aren't what their reputation says and humbling themselves to the top guys of the company like Austin and Rock. It would have been better served to have them coming in as disrespectful to play up their company killing reputations to make them feel like a real threat. It would of also been better to bring them in 1 by 1 unannounced similar to how they did in WCW. All they had to do was follow the WCW blueprint and tweak it enough to where it's similar but different and it would have been gold but instead they had to change it and try and make it their own thing. With a more threatening nWo, the booking could go back to a more serious tone with a badass Austin like the ones of the late 90s compared to the more comedy based tones it turned into in the 00s.

Bruce is the last person to get a candid-response to shady WWF management tactics. He will always make excuses for Vince. It's clear that they really had no agenda with the nWo outside of the initial return pop, and setting up Hogan for *Wrestlemania X-8.* Instead of Ric Flair, it should have been Eric Bischoff that was the one that bought Shane and Stephanie's stock in the WWF. Then it would have made perfect since for Bischoff to bring in the nWo.

Bruce has always been that way. If it wasn't WWF/E, it was shit. He thinks all WWE fans ONLY watch WWE, no other wrestling, period.

Anytime Bruce is legit wrong he won’t admit it. No one wanted Deiesel or Razor again. Sorry Bruce. And it wasn’t because JR made Nash human.

This was the only ppv I recorded it all in its entirety in SP mode on a special ordered 9 hour maxell brand vhs tape instead of a standard 6 hour tape which would only hold 2 hours in sp mode 4 hours in lp mode or 6 hours in ep mode If you’re too young to know what I’m talking about ask someone older what I’m talking about. Old days when you had to pay $40 for the ppv then hope the power didn’t go out or if you had satellite hope the signal didn’t get messed up.

That's not a Network edit. I have the DVD of the show that was released just a month after the event was held, and it does not have a opening video package, either. It just goes straight from the WWF signature to the "and now No Way Out" part.
