You inspired me to repair our boat tarp. A new tarp costs minimum $3,000 and I would have to hire someone to pull my boat our of the water and take it to the vendor. With a needle and thread and picked-apart canvas bags I found in the basement, I bound the edges (15 feet x 2), repaired a destroyed casing for the shock cord, reinforced large burn holes (from sparklers), whip stitched the seams inside, threaded a new shock cord ($14) through, rebuilt the corners and all of that took about one month, 5 hours a day. Last week, my son replaced broken staves and broken hooks and now the boat finally has a tarp. It was about 30 years old. Thanks for your dear posts and emails.

I have found so many nice linens while out browsing my favorite thrift stores. Lately I found two embroidered white linen pillow shams - king size - fifty cents each! Your advice always helps me use them in creative ways. I love, love your ideas.Thank you for sharing your talent.

The antlers suit you LOL. I love the lace screen and will def try it! I also love the hampers -- altho we've no room in the laundry area for them. Maybe on top of the machines, without the wheels. Thanks for all!

When my sons were in the speckled face stage of teenage angst... I crocheted some little face cloths for them to use and bought some masculine kind of soap for their acne. They whipped that face breakout stuff using those cloths. PS, I used a plain stitch not a scallop so they wouldn't think it was for girls. Boys are so wierd about that kind of thing, but they really don't know how to take care of themselves. That's what moms are for and later, their wives. 😍😃

Loved this video, Sarah! I especially loved the ideas for the bed skirts. I pick those up whenever I find them and I like to use them to throw over chairs that my cats love to sleep on. Keeps them from getting dirty and no kitty fur! I would love to make one into a blanket so will check out that video. I love what you are doing with the blanket and adding the trim. Question, why not use a sewing machine? Is it because of the fabrics?

I imagine it's for the particular effect. I often will hand sew when I don't want the obvious stripe of stitching showing on the back. When you hand sew on a thicker fabric like her wool blanket, the stitches are nearly invisible and it's a more finished look I guess you would say. I know this was directed to Sarah, but I thought I'd chime in :o)

I really want the trim to sit right on the edge of the blanket and be a little floppy. Hand-stitching with wide stitches is the only way to achieve this. I WISH I could use a machine!

I already threw away some hot pads, hand made and given to me as a Christmas gift. But I could have used them as wash clothes, which would have been great. . 😒
