How is it 2024 and I'm just hearing this gem of a song for the first time? ... I just happened across a Fiddler's Green cover which was amazing then came here to check out the original and wow, love it
You don't need to know how to play or sing anymore. You don't need a band or a producer. Computers do all that. We didn't realize how lucky we were to be alive in those times.
Year 2022 I'm still listening. This is a great masterpiece. Sound, Music, Instruments, Background Music... 2029, 2036, 2041, 2071 the world will rest as long as it exists...
Take me back to my boat on the river I need to go down, I need to come down Take me back to my boat on the river And I won't cry out any more Time stands still as I gaze In her waters She eases me down, touching me gently With the waters that flow past my boat on the river So I don't cry out anymore Oh the river is wide The river it touches my life like the waves on the sand And all roads lead to Tranquillity Base Where the frown on my face disappears Take me down to my boat on the river And I won't cry out anymore Oh the river is deep The river it touches my life like the waves on the sand And all roads lead to Tranquillity Base Where the frown on my face disappears Take me down to my boat on the river I need to go down Won't you let me go down? Take me back to my boat on the river And I won't cry out anymore And I won't cry out anymore And I won't cry out anymore
A song with natural chords and musical colors is like watching a plant grow with organic fertilizer without pesticides, giving juicy and colorful fruits.... greetings from Chiclayo-Peru
Hello 👋 Hypatia How're you doing. Thanks for this comment, I'm nothing without fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness It's nice meeting you here.
@@chrisdenaro steriotypical gen-x snobby remark. There's plenty of good modern music that isn't "those gosh darn younguns shaking their butt and rapping".
This video was lip sync'd. No microphones seen...the audio definitely that of studio recording. If they "hot mic'd" this....reverb echo would've been heard. Fantastic band...!
Born at that time, I heard it as a child when finding the cassette of my parents in the car. It was so soothing in a stressful time in my life when I remembered it 😊
Как же долго я искала эту песню, эту группу. Я в восторге: воспоминания о молодости, когда еще все впереди и все рядом...Мне кажется, этот шедевр на все времена. Супер!!!
Once upon a time, when musicians were humble and talented and brought their soul into the song, without bright lights and sexy dancers and autotune. *sigh*
There's still some wonderful pieces these days, it's just that people don't have the education to understand them. The easiest music to sell is quick and easy.
That song was connected with its essence when I have seen the man who has inspired me to write it. It is tens of thousand incarnations old. He looked like a strong decathlon sportsmen. I saw him for only 10 seconds from a tram. He went towards the main square in a town where I live. When two of us met last time he was frustrated from familiar reasons also have lost 3 boxing matches in 3 years against me interrupted in first round on the ground of to big difference in quality of the fighters. He made me think of a boat that is tagged and his smile was caused with a vage timeless knowledge that my physical condition is diametral opposed to his, where ever I am. At that time almost 39 000 incarnation ago that song presented herself together with idea that if two of us meet in the ring again I won't cry out any more. That man was in a recent incarnation the composer for whom I have written 'Pictures at one exhibition'.
To think that contemporary critics considered this the weakest track on the album… I was still a kid back then but I knew this was one of those songs that only drop once in a blue moon. Legendary.
Styx had a pretty good run, Equinox to Pieces of 8. This was my favorite from Cornerstone, just different. I have come to realize most of the songs that I liked, came from Tommy's creation.
Just shows the raw talent of this group a rock band playing blue grass style and playing it better than most blue grass bands. I think this group is rather underrated.
As someone who grew up in the early 80s they were definitely underrated and practically crucified for Kilroy/Roboto. Wasn’t their best stuff but still should be given kudos for trying something new and different even though it didn’t do well. Their mid-late 70s work was great. Love Styx always ❤️ ❤️
My neighbour's playing music and I had a major flashback of when I was really young and listening to my dad's collection. Couldn't remember exactly the title of this one song but I know it was a boat. So, I searched "slow rock boat song" and yep this was the song. And now the nostalgia is hitting me hard :')
Hello 👋 Michelle How're you doing. Thanks for this comment, I'm nothing without fans like you who appreciate my musical craftiness It's nice meeting you here.
I'm 53 years old, and just heard this song for the first time only 3 weeks ago. AMAZEBALLS. Blows everything else Styx did out of the water (but then again, I'm a Celtic, Folk, Gothic Folk fan).
