Su-35 production soars despite microchip ban

Despite the Western sanctions that limit their supply of microchips and parts for semiconductors, Russia seems capable of maintaining, and possibly even increasing, the production of their advanced Su-35 fighter jets. Evidence for this comes from comprehensive, ongoing satellite surveillance of a factory in Komsomolsk-on-Amur in Russia’s Far East.
In 2020, we generally observed two planes at the Su-35 factory. The capacity for plane storage significantly increased in 2021, accommodating 11 to 16 planes at any given time.
By April of that year, the count had risen to 19 planes. Remarkably, by October, this number had soared to 30 fighter planes, all conveniently aligned next to the assembly buildings.
This trend continued in 2023, as satellite images revealed 31 Su-35 planes at the factory in September. The most recent photograph, taken in October 2023, displays 29 planes, all primed and ready to soar into the blue yonder.
This viewpoint aligns closely with a comprehensive study by the American Center for European Policy Analysis [CEPA]. The study suggests that Russia has been consistently producing approximately 30-35 new Su-35-type planes in recent months. Further calculations imply that Russia now possesses roughly 114 Su-35s, at least theoretically.
Leading experts believe that the production of top-level fighter aircraft, like the Su-35, involves large amounts of these chips. These chips are fundamental to the core operations of the aircraft. They control everything from the radar and flight control systems to communication and navigation. They also manage image processing, guidance, data links, display systems, and other vital cockpit functions.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The best Russian CPUs are comparable to Intel designs from 2010 and the Russians had trouble mass producing them even before the sanctions. At this moment, the Russian microchip industry is lagging way behind the most advanced industries of the West, and at this moment they are believed to be able to produce chips according to the standards of the year 1996. However, obviously the microchip industry in Russia is a top priority of the government, and they are believed to smuggle equipment from ASML in parts into the country. So there's a fair chance that Russia will be able to produce somewhat more advanced microchips in the foreseeable future.

As a Westerner, I can tell you this is exactly what a lot of Westerners think. Some of them genuinely believe Russians are outright stupid, whilst many - perhaps even most - simply believe they are inherently superior to Russians. In truth, what Russian engineers accomplish, with their far more limited resource, totally puts our efforts to shame - as demonstrated by a recent missile test failure. Worst of all are our politicians and journalists, however, who really are just unbelievably stupid.

Because they're not that hard to produce the information on how the manufactured this was given to outside companies when the United States companies decided the outsource production overseas. You just need to understand that in order to control the heat, you need to utilize a vacuum and sometimes gas is so that the flow of material will be limited because it will want to re-solidify and once you understand that and you can control it in an environment like that, you can make as many as you want, which is obviously relevant to a story like this because you're basing production of fighter jets on something. How about you base it on this? The United States can't make any more titanium and they get all of their titanium from Russia. So how can an F-22 or even a passenger airliner fly without the sanctioning of Russia? And with Russia about to control 50% of Europe's food? How about you run a real story?
@chriskerwin3904
@chriskerwin3904 7 месяцев назад
The US gets most of its Titanium from mines in South Africa and South America. Ironically, Russian has trouble manufacturing components out of Titanium because their multi-axis milling machines aren't comparable to Western or Japanese or Korean ones. Semiconductor manufacturing is about the most complex manufacturing sector in existence and Russia is about 20 years behind the US in their designs. Russia is lucky that aircraft and missiles don't need particularly complex processors to operate, so they can use their antiquated garbage for now.

@gsc512
@gsc512 7 месяцев назад
@@chriskerwin3904 that statement is completely erroneous in so many ways, but the Americans are the ones that are forming society around feelings and foregoing facts. Also, it's hard to raise an army when you have men that only see what's in it for themselves and they care nothing for anybody else. You can't have a military that operates with individuals like that. They'll never hold the line. Also historically, once a country murders the values of the family or devalues the family, the country usually falls within 50 years And that Russian garbage that you speak of is absolutely devastating the NATO equipment in Ukraine. And as far as machining titanium with modern lasers, you can do the same thing. So I'm not sure where you're going with the CNC mailing cuz I'm not sure who would be able to work with titanium by using a standard drill bit style system. You're going to be at it all day and any system will be adequate. Just don't remove too much material if that's what you're trying for, but there's a better way and that's using a laser and a chamber like a vacuum chamber that you fill with the gas so you can better control what goes on with the material. She want to talk about garbage. Garbage is when you put an industry in charge of your defense and then you let them capitalize on it and you never own the property rights. So instead of the war machine getting cheaper with the cost per unit, it gets more expensive. That's garbage. That's the American war industry. Department of defense never took the copyright from the companies so they continue to mark up the garbage that they're selling because they made some little change. That's garbage. The Russian war machine is anything but and it's absolutely destroying the American equipment that's over there Taking two conflicts to up armor a military vehicle that you know is inadequate. That's killing American fighters that's garbage. That's something that the American war machine did as well over propheteering I would also like to add that those are the countries that you mentioned South Africa and South America that most want to join brics

The Su-35 can't resolve fighter targets at 400km, neither can the Su-57. The range of the missile isn't that important if you can't see what you're shooting at. The side mounted radars you mentioned are so small that their range is less than 50km which is kind of pointless. The F-22 has 4 weapons bays, 2 side ones for the AIM-9 and two central ones for larger weapons like AIM-120. You're right the Su-57 has a slightly higher thrust engine but at a lower compression ratio (it's less fuel efficient and heavier per unit of thrust) even though it's almost 25 years newer. But NATO radars and EWACS plane is what is monitoring the skies 24/7 and since they are NATO on NATO terrirtory they cant be destroyed. So you've basically got a situation where Russia can never have air superiority because the things hindering it cannot be targeted...

Russia produces it's own 90nm chips and it's perfectly enough for their military purposes, buying more chips from other countries doesn't mean you don't have your own it just mean you have calculated and came to the conclusion that if you buy a certain amount of them from foreign countries you can save money and spend it on something else.. they also buy chips from Taiwan and China and probably South Korea.. every country that is not retarded will do the same..

Maybe those SU-35's neatly arranged on the ground are actually wooden decoys - like the English used in WW2. If I was Russia, I would not want my opponent to know my combat capabilities. Those planes would be stored under camouflage at a minimum, preferably inside a building, away from prying eyes. Especially with unfriendly explosive-laden drones in the neighbourhood
