The hesitation in the piece brings this song so much life. The sound is full and seems balanced to me. Great musicianship, great band. I can't wait 3 more school years til college.
i pick SU version.i love all swac marching bands and i don't criticize anybody but SU has all the screaming trumpets and the most powerful mellophones and baritones. the trombones uphold the power and that's all i look 4 in a marching band. SU is in the house 1 luv.
I forgot to mention, I HAD DREADS!!! When I got in the band, I cut them out. And when I got out the band, I grew them back and still have them to this day.... ( Which why I said it was worth it to me and others who may have wanted their hair for whatever reason....Thank You for your feedback and "TO EACH THEIR OWN" , young brotha
Man, they goin hard on this one. That bass drum really helps the intensity of the sound. I prefer tonal basses but you gotta see how important this bass is t this sound. Love the S. Keep doin yall thing. Look forward to seeing yall in the fall.

low key that "No Hair" rule is discrimination, the level of enforcement is depending on the circumstances, in public schools the ruling can easily swing either way. SU has already dealt with lawsuits before, they better chill before they end up with more legal problems!

Why are people making these don't force comments...That's their style....The song is gonna drop and they are gonna bring as much sound as possible.....Been like that for years.

As a CB of Haymer...I appreciate the accolades. But, lets not add fluff to SU's history. Although, a "kma" is always felt in his music...there was no one deeming Haymer a detrement. Haymer was a highly-regaurded 4-year Music Major at SU. If anything, his transition was about as seemless as you can get. In the band room and with alum. But, really...Thanks. Haymer observes alot of these boards also.
It sounds good here, but it's totally different when they're in the stands. They just simply overblow because they want to sound soo loud. I pick sound over loudness any day.
I love the Jukebox, but this one right here.... I just wasn't feelin it. To slow and lacked the cleanliness you expect from SU. Also, dynamics and SU are like trying to get an elephant to walk on a tight rope.... it ain't workin lol. Once they cranked up the volume I was a little more intrigued, but still not my favorite by far.
@mustang20XII They would not make you cut your dreads, but they would also not have a spot in the band for you. It is up to you what is more important.
Jamaica was Refound and named in 1494 AD by a sir Christopher Columbus. So, Jamaica is just the STEM of dreads, not the root. If you would refer to the text of, Anthony T Browder's " Nile Valley Contributions to Civilization" pg. 233, you'll see various pictures of people w/ dreadlocks, including King Tut(tomb) ca. 1330 BC, Amenemhet II (statues), ca 1890 BC and other wall drawings. But, I'm glad you typed the key words, "IT IS SAID"... you should KNOW B4 YOU FOLLOW....DAMN, glad I went to SU..
Love the fullness of the band, but there was several spots of sloppy rests and people bleeding into them. If the band was more together, they would have killed it.

@mustang20XII ...young lad, what does that have to do with dreads? Not'a'got....that's what. Every band has things they need to work on. Even SU...and, even SU in the uniformity dept. But, if you try and hang on to that arguement, you're already lost, cuz SU is one of, if not THE, most uniform band (of more important things) in all the band world...not just HBCU's.
Shaving ya head bald, and other lil silly things like that, is not that serious folks. Now, if a person has locks, idk bc I would not cut mine, especially if it was cultural or spiritual related reasons. But all in all, I like SU, and they do a damn good job.
Bruh, again it's NOT that serious. As I stated, if a person had locks, I could see someone NOT wanting to cut their hair. And it's no EXCUSE. But I appreciate your feedback.
@mustang20XII ..well, let me end this back and forth with this. "AT SU" it indeed IS the smaller details that get payed attention to. That's what seperates the "S" from others. Being dreaded, most of the time, has a less-groomed look to it. That's not me saying that..that's a view shared by many. Even if you could get your dreads to be clean as hell..try getting the other 50-100+ members with dreads to look AS clean. (REALITY CHECK)..that does not happen! SU likes the clean shaven look. Period.
