Southern band came prepared for this fifth quarter battle this year.....I'll never forget being at this game it was my freshman year in high school going to what was at the time o.perry Walker high school(now Landry Walker high school)......and just seeing this battle alone made me want to join the band the next week playing saxophone.....I was so star struck at how big famu was lol I had never seen a band with that many people before that game plus I had always wanted to see famu upclose in person and during this battle I was literally saying famu just go home because that night famu may have won the football game but the band battle was all southern that night
Itis really pathetic for you fans to ignorantly critique these two fine bands. They have contrasting styles but both have very talented musicians. Most of fourth grade critics are nust bias.
This is my first time watching this and SU was in the pocket grooving and FAM was playing notes. Clear, clean and blended but with no, ole RnB soul. Southern got this just because of the SOUL they played with.
When FAMU started playing "Warm Up Music" it was over. They had nothing left. SU could have played twinkle twinkle little star and won. First time watching in 2018.
Famu should have more watts with the normalized concert sheet music they playing. Su vs Famu Frosted flakes vs Corn flakes Hot Cheetos vs. Cheetos Puffs Louisiana Hot sauce vs. Tapitio Overscale vs. Scale
Southern is like th artist . You can feel the music and soul. FAMU is like the opera singer who can sing extremely well but has no flair or has no jazzy vibe to it

Nah at bdbcorp, The problem is that the cadences are TOO busy for the song! Keep It Simple FAM! You are tryin to do to much to where it sounds out of place and sloppy!
That's how I experience their music. SU wants you to feel something. FAMU wants to help you ride the elevator floor-to-floor - both innocuous and uninteresting.
I've watched many of these wonderful battles but I think that this is the first one where nobody has mentioned the dancers! There must be at least 400in the famu band...wow that's ten times more than my old band
FAMU! Whatever the percussion section is doing does NOT compliment the music, please change it....Especially on Getaway & Black & Blues....Just sounds like they making alotta noise that is interfering with the clarity of the instruments....
Everything about the Human Jukebox is designed to destroy other marching bands. The bigger the other band the more SU shines against them in their drills and with their superior sound. FAMU has been getting destroyed for decades by SU, Do your homework and go back to 1986 and 1987 videos. Same thing at the 2010 Honda.
Melvin Walker idk about that lol Su is great at what they do but generally the only bands you'll find drastically bigger than Su are famu n Cookman and they both really expose Su when it comes to musicality and although Su has great drills when it comes to the concert numbers and dance routines I'd also say famu n Cookman both win easily
Please go to the 2010 Honda BOTB and watch SU and listen to the crowd. You cannot out perform THE HUMAN JUKEBOX when they have it on their minds. Best marching band on the planet.

I'll take the technicality played by SU than the "etcha-sketch" arrangements by FAM. And if you need another analogy, I'd rather the seasoned steak grilled medium well by The Jukebox than to have bland Peas and Carrots, affectionately known as FAM. Good day, sir.

SU has a strong upper half, but no bottom or mids. So it's loud at the top. Note to SWAC bands: That's not a full sound and musically piercing. But yall love it. Why??? It's noise and hard to listen to for more than 30 seconds. Just sayin
dude, i'm not gone lie, If i was famu, I would have just Left, if not after that Michelle's Something In my Heart, Definitely after Anita Baker's Been so long.. real talk, i would have kinna respected Famu if they would have left early while still trying to maintain their dignity. But Southern just destroyed them dudes. smh

I was at that game like most u people need to get real famu. arrangements were simple an high school no dam pop booooooaring. then after the fan left talking southern had mics. under the seats
Now i damn for sure won't say famu is sloppy but they are boring as fuck! Man i wish famu start acting like they're playing for fans and not like they're playing for "musical judges".... don't get me wrong, what they played sounds great. Beautiful even. But don't nobody wanna hear that shit! Lol
Can somebody say Drum-line Part 2??? Famu is full of themselves on this one. Letting Southern University know that we don't necessarily have to play junkin music in order to call ourselves musicians.... Yes Famu can still get down and play junkin music, but they can also play symphonic music. I love Famu and all, but this is why they are back to just 100 members... Slowly but surely Famu will get it together..... Humility is my point....
