Finally able to cut our grass with all the rain here in upstate NY and it was tall also. Our TKV20 on our 1023e with 54" deck did an incredible job of collecting the grass. We even raked the leaves from last fall out of the flower beds and in hard to reach places into rows and then collected very wet leaves with the TKV20 it did an incredible job as well. We took delivery of our TKV20 earlier this spring and thanks to all of Tim's videos made the installation much easier with installing the wiring harness to cutting the driveshaft. We also received the 5% TTWT discount from Terra King. Have photo's.
you probably dont care but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother for the last days =)
I was about to comment that, after i make the first 1-2 passes getting around all the annoying objects, I usually square it off so its just a straight shot.
I have used a GT445 with the MC519 blowers and cart. I am moving to a 1023R with TC20. Keeping NC yard under control. I found your channel very helpful when researching compact tractors.
My TKV20 to the rescue. Can you believe it the TKV20 saved the day. While I was mowing close to one of our ponds after weeks of on and off rain you can imagine how wet some of the soil still was. Well it seems my Johnny Jr. (1023e) became more than stuck the wheels looked like the ground swallowed them up. Having the TKV20 quite full of grass cuttings and I had the loader on as a counter balance I was stuck and all that added weight did not help. I was preparing to tow it out with rigging and all because I also had the loader bucket right up against a tree and had to back up to go around it. I then remembered all the grass clippings I had in the TKV20 hopper. Well I rocked Johnny Jr back and forth and stopped in the forward position to expose the deep tire ruts behind the tractor. I then opened the hopper and filled up the ruts with the grass clippings so I could back up just enough to maneuver around the tree and drive out through the woods like a Sherman Tank. So that is why I can say that the TKV20 came to the rescue. I am also building quite an area of composting material with the TKV20. I hope it is ok for a story like this here but it is about the TKV20. God Bless
Enjoyed the video. The place to get an long lasting exterior American flag is Annin Flag makers. They are located in South Boston Virginia. They made the flag for Abraham Lincoln's casket. This American company has been around since 1847. The yard looks good. Great drone footage Tim. Y'all take care and God bless.
I have the "mulching kit" on my mowers. Always believed the clippings added better/more nutrients to the lawn. (I only have to fertilize once a year instead of 3+) (I currently live on an 18acer farm)
I like the idea of having a grass catcher and making a big compost pile to add to your garden soil next year. You can drive it through your wooded trails and pickup dried leaves add some worms and all kind of other stuff. Bring in stuff from other jobs in your dump trailer and add to it. Wood chips, Saw dust and than next year use your front loader and dump trailer to spread. Disc in to soil and truly have a organic farm. Nice to have a big piece of property you can set up a big pile so far away from house out of the way and forget about it. Hope that is how it works. Never did it. Tell me if I am wrong
Not sure what you grow besides sweet corn, but I use fresh grass clippings around tomato plants. It helps ti keep weeds down, helps hold moisture, and adds natural fertilizer to the plants. If it id dry enough in the fall, I lightly till them in to mix with soil then a good till in spring. Add leaves in the fall if you have them.
My lawn is dying because we hardly ever get rain after May except an occasional T-storm. I don’t water it much because it costs too much. Gonna drive a sand point pretty soon.
When mowing an irregular shaped area (in my case it is bush hog mowing a pasture) I outline the perimeter 2 or 3 times then I mow a straight line down the middle and work from the inside out. Mowing in a straight line is more efficient and faster then following all of the curves and bends if you work from the outside in.
GREAT VIDEO!!! Love that TKV20!! I would love to come and stripe your lawn for you. I know you don’t love mowing, but with a lawn like that it’s a shame not to!!!
I always buy flags from the American Legion Flag & Emblem. Commercial quality that has always been priced cheaper than the local stores. I haven't bought one for a while, though. Mine have lasted.
Have you tried the Ventrac without the chute, so it can disperse the clippings better ? I built a vacuum unit on a 24hp 61'' Bobcat Jaguar using an 8hp Giant Vac blower mounted on the side over 25yrs ago. Back then, not many people had vac units on mowers. That pile of clippings would work awesome around plants in a vegetable garden.
I'd love you to cover your mowing pattern for when you don't pick up clippings. We have buffalo grass we hoped to not mow too often, but when we do I struggle with a mowing pattern that doesn't need to be raked. Have seen some posts online but haven't really had good luck with the "zamboni method" on my lawn.
When I first placed my order for my 1025r I called Terra King to get the ball rolling. After about 3 weeks of not hearing from them I ended up buying a Ag Fab tow behind collection system
Ok. Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that they were not responsive. They are aware of some confusion last winter, and they believe they have the kinks worked out.
Tractor Time with Tim it looks like a great addition to anyone’s garage to make things easier around the yard and garden. It’s almost time to check on those potatoes for hilling
Like the video that vac system would be nice for the fall to pick up the leaves in my yard. But i have a question i tried to put a snow plow on the back of my 1025r witch it went on but it doesn't raise it but two inches off the ground why is that?
A couple of potential reasons for your rear blade not lifting high enough. 1. The blade is made for a larger tractor. Is this a Frontier blade you purchased with your tractor, or did you buy it aftermarket? 2. The top link may be adjusted too long. You can shorten the top link by cranking it (make sure you have the jam nut loosened). Make sense?
Well Tim, a while back I told you I could buy a lot of tarps for the cost of the TKV20 on one of your other videos featuring your TKV20. Last fall the 30+ trees on my 3 acres kicked my butt. Not getting any younger and with my labor revolting (my wife :) I decided to break down and buy the JD MCS2120 for my JD1025r. The pricing through Ag-Pro was very competitive even versus the TKV20 and it arrived much faster than we expected. I do like the hard top on the JD version versus the TKV20 version. My only question for you is what is the best weight solution for the front of the tractor. I don't believe you can use the Heavy Hitch quick hitch version with the drive over mid mount mower.
Tim, thanks for the videos as always. When u have a chance could u provide the dimensions on the TKV20. I was looking to purchase one myself but need specific dimensions to see if it can fit in my limited space in the garage. Thanks for your help my friend!
BTW do you ever notice the 60D mower deck cutting lower on the side that the TKV20 boot attaches? This is a big concern especially on Power FLow implements (3 bag power flow, MCS, etc) as the weight of the power flow system seems to considerably alter the levelness of the cut and unfortunately can't make enough of an adjustment on the mower deck to compensate.
Amazing! I just used my TKV20 that I purchased back in Nov 18 for the first time today then tonight I see your YT posting. You definitely will need front counterweight. Currently I run seven 42lb suit case weights. Maybe five would be better? What is the difference between the 2019 and 2018 TKV20? They look the same. I still have not optimized my setup yet, but it appears to cut somewhat unlevel. It might be the extra weight on the right side of the tractor (blower and hose/boot on the 60D mmm. Still it works light years better than the JD 14 bushel MCS that I had on the older 2013 1025R. Never clogged up, even mowing heavy grass and three previous mowing left over clippings.
I have always used front weight in the past...as you’ve seen in the prior episodes. Essentially no differences. Just minor stuff. Things I wouldn’t have noticed.
Another great video! I was wondering if you had looked at the JD MCS-20 at all? It is made by Superior Tech for JD, it appears to be the same collection system but the “blower” attachment mounts right in the deck on the JD model rather than on the collection system with the TKV sustem. I’d be curious about your thoughts as to which “blower” setup works better. I was gonna get the TKV20 but was able to finance the MCS20 with our 1025r purchase because it was made by Deere, and that is what really swayed us, I was just a little unsure about the difference in the blower systems. And I guess I should say YOU really swayed us when it came to getting it in general, thanks to the great videos you have done about it! Pax Christi.
Find the power in proper composting, you have a great opportunity hear. That’s the ecological thing to do. And yes you could sell it, or use it. Perhaps custom build a compost bin to make it easy to unload the hopper to the compost.
Not having to get off the tractor to dump the TKV20 is a big plus. Regarding the flag, all the new automobile dealerships down here fly flags. If they do the same in your area, they could probably tell you where to get a quality flag.
I need 1 of these but funds are tight. Me driving a truck 1st 2 mowinges this year was hard. As it was from Aug. 13th to April 23rd between last mowing last year to 1st one this year. It just rained all the time from I was home from September to even into June. I also cut ruts in May when I mowed but the grass was to the top of the hood on my 1025R and extremely thick. So thick it killed the engine 3 time in my 4 lots. And when I'm on the road for a month at a time I need to get the grass off the yard. Heck I could bail it at times if I had a bailer.
I do a lot of composing I vacuumed leaves for the town of Howe Indiana in the fall for around 3,000 bushel plus I vacuumed when the grass get’s out of control any way it only takes approximately 8 years to turn back into black dirt I sure like that collector unit my vacuume trailer holds 45.8 bushel and is hydraulic but I have to get off and on the tractor
If you made the driveway to the pole building wider a semi could possibly turn around by pulling towards the pole building and backing a 90 towards the house
Tim we are having the same problem in PA,, i put some super good fertilizer i got from Agway and my grass is a beautiful dark green and growing like crazy ,, i need to mow twice a week but because of rain its like every week and a half to two weeks,, driving me crazy..
Well Tim, if Katriel gets fired, i quit to... LOL Working great with Vinnie and the collector. Do you have the mmm on clipping or sideways?is the clipping bag 708 ltr ?
