...In the year 2020, I experienced a Subarachnoid hemorrhage most likely due to a previous traumatic head sport injury or other related. I never smoked. I did drink wine. (I don't drink now) I felt weird pressure in my neck and felt I needed an ice pick to release the pressure. I simultaneous immediately asked my family to call 911 and was immediately taken to neurosurgery. I was in the hospital for 20 days while my head was being drained. There was no sign of any aneurysm. I survived and just completed my 3 year checkup. The event somewhat changed my outlook on life.

Ok how lucky am I that I discovered you. As a Neurosurgery NP, there are so many things that we have to understand and the crash course doesn’t explain the why we do things. If I don’t understand the why, I forget so much. You made SAH management so easy that I am so excited about each of your other posts. You make me want to learn everything. I just love you and thank you, thank you, thank you. ❤️❤️❤️

You are an amazing and talented doctor. It was a very detailed description and you have touched every department like ITU, radiology, stroke, cardiac and neurosurgery. I'm so impressed by your clever teaching. I can't believe I spent all those time watching but your efforts for this teaching were incredible. Hats off .❤👏👏👏

Really impressive! Clearly put so much time and effort into this - I'm very grateful to have this, the visual aids are very useful and your tone too. I tutor an adult learner for maths, and he tells me "don't be scared to talk to me almost like a child". You use a tone that is very encouraging and draws out knowledge, but not patronising in any way. Fantastic teaching!

Thank you so much for this video, your explanations are cristal clear ! My life partner had a little subarachnoid hemorrhage and I wanted to understand what was going on. Doctors don't have enough time to explain to us, and it's difficult to know how to behave. Full gratitude

Great video!!! I was involved in a head on collision 10 days ago & was discharged from the hospital after being diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage the day after. I'm due for a 2nd CT scan late next week. Thankfully I have yet to exhibit any symptoms that require me to be hospitalized but I do have a slight tingling sensation on the side of my head. Just keeping my fingers crossed that it's nothing major.

Fantastic lecture~ your systematic approach made excellent sense of this multifaceted medical event. The diagrams w/ur explanations were A++++! Thank you for helping me to understand so much more than the treating doctors could because it has given me the ability to better advocate for my family member who has been on such a medical situation. God bless you for sharing ur ability to help others to better understand very complicated concepts while also teaching future doctors not only the medical intricacies but a calm concise manner to explain this to lay people.

I work as a nurse in a neurologic intermediate care unit and we often have patients with SAH. I never seen doctors do a TCD and we only do CT's if we suspect acute vasospasm. What we do to monitor the patients is hourly GCS controls and strengths control of all the limbs. Do you know if there is a state of the art method for monitoring patients? Thanks for this great lecture!

@@BisayainHolland i am sorry to hear that. i don't know xtra dural. i had to google it. it seems your sister's aneurysm is small. i know this is a serious diagnostic regardless of the size ...but she will be fine. she will be followed andyou two follw the case and educate yourself..there are many groups on facebook on SAH stroke that you can join and ask all the questions ..you will get good information from the stroke survivors themselves. i strongly advise you to join....there are many groups. join a group for strokes in general ..then join a group about SAH stroke survivors

When the vessel ruptures, it will cause vasospasms, which compromises cerebral blood flow. You said that we must administer Nimodipine to increase the BP and allow more blood to flow back again. My question is, wouldn't our body's own carotid sinus have already taken care of that? I mean that's why we have the crushing triad right? So that the body can increase the BP by itself without the help of external meds like Nimodipine?
