I was able to read the fault code using this method on 04wrx, but could not clear it. Did you follow his instructions to clear the code and thus the light? My code is 23 -left front sensor. Would I be able to clear the code if the sensor is faulty? Thanks for helping.
Thanks for this! Worked on an 02 legacy. Wheel bearing failure on my sisters vehicle and destroyed the abs. New sensor in and wouldn’t clear. Had to pull the dash panel off to find it, but it was tucked way up there and electrical taped out of the way.
I gotta thank this kid. I have to see if I can fix or repair my sons Speedometer. This was invaluable really is. Good video good clear English & know how. I am getting my clothes on to go have it right now. Thumbs good stuff. I also have to figure out how I am going to fit inside that car being the size of a moose with antlers.
Since the most years of the first generation Impreza and first generation Foresters are VERY similar vs. Outback/legacy...this seems like a very good vid for my '01 Fozzie.
Thank you. Great help. My 2005 Forester LLBean has the connector, but there is a cap covering the pin sockets. Also, I can't locate the "diagnostic pins". Someone suggested they were grounding pins. I wouldn't want to ground pin #6 without knowing for sure. Very informative video. Thanks again.
you saved me so much time and money when it came to trying to figure out my codes for my ABS issue thank you so much for teaching us and giving us the information. You definitely earned my sub
Thank you very much. I accidentally triggered P1507 and ABS light on. I forget to connect the brake booster vacuum hose to the intake manifold. I needed this video to clear the abs code.
have 2003 outback h-6 4dr. traction control light on..did new brakes all 4 wheels..still have a front wheel shutter real bad on freeway if I hit brakes hard.feel it in steering wheel
If you clear a code how long will it take to come back if something is still there? I bought my first Forester used and the dealer is working on 3 codes Abs, Hill assist and traction control They said it was fixed and the codes came back in the day I got it back. 🤷♂️
Hmm, I can’t locate that black connector with pins on my 2005 wrx. It only has green ones and a grey 6 pin connector (3x2) in which pins 2 and 5 (middle ones) are not connected
So...... My 1996 Impreza outback has that diagnostic connector BUT... there are only wires in pin locations 1 and 2. 4,5, and 6 are absent. Any help there?
Thanks for the video! I was all excited to do this for my daughter's 2005 Subaru Forester X 2.5, but it has a 7 pronged gray port and NO prongs to plug into the gray port... any ideas how to fix for this car? What's weird is that the ABS light came on after I replaced the brakes front and rear, so I know it's connected to that. thank you in advance
was looking for the connector last night as well! eventually found it taped up in a loop right above the 2 loose green connectors, hope yours is the same. You might have found it by now, but just in case
I never found it, but I got a pro code scanner and attempted to remove the code which it did but then it came back immediately so I pulled off the wheel and found that the sensor ring was broken and dented in which I repaired and it seem to work for a while but the code came back and I haven’t had a chance to look at the ring again to see if it moved I’m going to do a video on repairing that sensor ring on an 05 Forrester ask because it doesn’t have the back discs so I’m thinking I can just pull off the axle and there’s no video showing that anyway thanks for your help
I had to figure this out with the factory manual. It was confusing, to say the least. My pins were taped up to the harness. Not freely hanging. I have a right rear ABS code I still have to track down the issue.
The procedure for later models is even more confusing. For most 05-09 it's this mess. Starting condition: key off, headlight switch off. Steps 1 through 7 must be performed within 10 seconds. 1. Turn key to ON position. This is the normal running position, the click just before starting, when all the lights on the dash come on, but before you twist to START. Don't start the engine! 2. Within 3 seconds, turn the headlight switch ON. 3. Press the Trip/Odometer button 4 times. 4. Turn the headlight switch OFF. 5. Press the Trip/Odometer button 4 times. 6. Turn headlight swtich ON. 7. Press Trip/Odometer button 4 times. At this point, the DTC display will begin. 8. Turn headlight switch OFF. Not necessary for the procedure, but your display may be dimmed and hard to read in bright sunlight. Besides, why drain the battery? I believe you do it 3 times instead of 4 for steps 3 and 5 to pull airbag codes instead. Crazy, but it works. It then gives you numeric error codes which are actually 2 parts and you have to piece them together from the FSM to make sense of them. It's pretty wild, hahaha.
I’m showing a 44 abs code(AT control abnormal) on my 98 outback and have no idea what it could be, I checked the fuses, the connector, the ground and also can’t get the code to clear. Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙌🏼
I have the connector, but there is no wire in position 6 and therefore nothing to connect to. I've triple checked the position I'm looking at but I can't figure out what's wrong. Anybody have an idea?
Brake noise question 05 outback automatic trans Humming coming to a stop. I see glazing on rotors with 50% brake pad thickness. Can this also be transmission related?
Yes, could be. Try to slowly bring it to a spot using one the hand brake, that might help isolate the sound. Also, try slipping the trans into neutral as you apply the brakes. Cheers! And good luck!
Yes, that is always the case. The codes are triggered by sensors monitoring mechanical parts, if those sensors get triggered again, the code will pop up again. Always gotta fix the root cause! That’s for another video - cheers!!!
Hi. It seems like you’re helping others so I’ll give it a try 😊 I have a Subaru Outback 2011. Traction light, Anti locking brake system and check engine light is on. It first started w driving cruise control long distance and kicked me off of it.. Since then I’ve had the head gasket replaced, oil sensor, just did brakes and rotors.. among other things & these lights come on and off… maybe when I hit a bump? I don’t know Please help! Thanks
ABS sensors, one of rhem or more, need replacement. To perform hard reset, disconnect positive yerminal to battery, wait 5 minutes, hook back up. Depress brake pedal to remove any built up electricity, then turn key to on position, but don't start. After 5 minutes, start car. This will buy you some time to finx problem sensor and replace. Factory sensors are about 135 bucks apiece, usually sold in pairs. I used after market sensors for 35 to 40 bucks a pair
@@hopefulinchrist4368 the reset is only temporary. I just replaced all four ABS sensors and mine is still tripping off the cruise control, so I'm still trying to solve this. It went a full week and several hundred miles after the replacement, which was better, but now is doing it more often again. I'm hoping the fact I used cheap Chinese sensors isn't the problem. Make sure you always put your gas cap on tight, and that it is clean and fits well. That will trigger a bunch of lights and codes too. Not changing the oil often enough will trigger it too.
@@williamcooke6056 wow I’m sorry the problem has come back for you!! I hope it will get fixed. I usually seal my gas cap tight and I’m on time with my oil changes. When I’ve had it reset, it would remain off for a while til I hit a certain speed and maybe a bump or something. It never last long. I do need to get it checked out.
@@hopefulinchrist4368 When the Check Engine Light comes in, for sure there us a Code stored, so if you can go to an auto parts store and ask them to read it for you. That is what any mechanic will do. Then you know for sure it is the sensor, and it should tell you which one, because they are spend unless you order cheap discount parts. A lot of mechanisc won't put in parts you buy, as it makes it difficult to warrantee their work.
Hello, I am on an EURO SF5 Forester from 00', I've got the green connectors, but instead of pins with black wire I have black connectors ( red wire ) that you can plug together to diagnosis the Check engine light, is it those black connector you need to wire to the 6 port of the ABS connector ?
I will pay money for someone to show me where this connector/pins are in my car. I've got the bottom panel off. I've looked for 30 minutes. Untaped bundles. Can't find anything like this. It's a 2007 Subaru Impreza (sedan). Is there something different or another procedure with this model??
@@SubaruONLY No, never found it. I feel that I did give it a pretty good go at looking for it. In the end, I sucked it up and just bought a scan tool that reads more things (like ABS) than just check engine stuff. It quickly pinpointed the problem(s). But I appreciate the video you made!
My 97 legacy outback has ABS light on but drives normal, when the light goes off my brakes slip and pulse to a stop... the light came on/ it’s been doing this for a few months ever since I hit that tire and put a spare on it. Idk If I reset this code to get rid of the light it will make it stutter to a stop every time like that or if I should keep the light on and keep my brakes working normall. I can always visit the issue in the future
Hi I need help with my subaru legacy 2000. It will turn over UT not start I've been trying for a year and a half n is. I've replaced everything with the fuel line and pump. On the I/M readiness it shows: DTC 0, PD DTC 0, MIS green check, FUE green check, CCM green check, cat red x, HCAT 0, EVAP red check, AIR 0, 02S X, HRT X. could you possibly know what that's means or point me in the right direction? Thank you.
Hmmm, sorry to hear!! Love that model though. I don’t know off the top of my head, but I’d get a tool to verify spark is working at the plugs (they have inline tools that verify this). Spark issue is pretty common. Then verify the fuel is making it to the cyl. Good luck!!! 👍
