In this video, I show you how to lift a First-Generation Subaru Impreza with OEM parts for cheap! Stay tuned for more Subaru Battlewagon content. 📲 Social Media Links: linktr.ee/Bendaga Thanks for watching! #BendagasGarage
Dude! I am so impressed with the quality of your videos! They get better every time. I really liked how you showed the whole process of replacing the struts. Can't wait to see it with the new wheels!
I think it's worth mentioning for those who maybe don't have much knowledge of suspension, NEVER EVER EVER EVER touch the middle bolt while removing the top part of the strut under the hood. there's a reason they call them widow makers. great vid 👌
Subscribed man. Great video production and you show everything which is great. Was intrigued the entire time, can't wait to see more for the battle wagon.
You can also just switch the top strut mounts on the rear struts. Use the Impreza strut mounts that match the body with the Forester strut/spring. No drilling required, but you do need to compress the springs.
Subbed! #301 and I'm looking forward to learning a bunch from watching you do this. I've got a Forester, and am jealous that your garage looks like it's got more floorspace than my house ha
Thanks for the video; it is well done. I have a Forester 2002 with 200000 miles in it, and in need of the same things. I might suggest to use anti seize in those bolts... for the future!.
Just got me the same one but is a 95 with only 64000 miles in great condition like yours paint and the inside is also in great condition I want to make it look like yours great job man thanks for sharing
I found one exactly like this, serviced, pretty cheap, I'm saving up currently.I really want a Subaru :) It had rust fixed, but in turn the paint was removed, the car is bare.I want to have it painted blue, with the wheels of course painted gold for that authentic Subaru color scheme :D
Great video but even tho you feel the alignment is right you won’t know for sure until you end up with bald tires. You should always get your alignment checked after suspension work.
Nice informative video thanks mate I'm doing the same to my Subaru it's a 1996 but it's got a 2002 Lancaster front subframe which allows aggressive left with sway bar still attached and 03 forester rear shocks it's been used as a daily farm car and still runs mint now i have my license I decided it'll be the perfect daily😂😂 so far 2k down😪 and it's still not quite legal
Bro, so glad to see you got the wagon back!!! Where did you get the rain guards?????? I'm building/ "restoring" a 97 OBS currently, as soon as I get it back from my mechanic I'll post a video of it. Having the timing/ oil puking problem fixed right now, don't have a garage so I can only do limited work myself.
Hey bro! Thanks so much for the rad video!! I have the exact same impreza (mine is an 01) so it was fun to watch. Like it was my own car! I had a question: lots of people are saying you need trailing arms or at least TA-spacers to make it fit... It doesn't seem like you did? Did you need to extend anything to make it work?
Looking at doing this to my 2.0l S same body, don’t want more than a 2.0 /2.5 lift as don’t want the CV angle to be under stress in off road, issue with sanding and shock stroke on full compression, would have been sweet to get a look at that CV angle before and afterwards, but because it’s Suby for Suby mid change guessing it stays that same, which is about right for anything under 3.0” lift right?, agree with others really well don’t vid mate, cheers 🤙 Just a tip for growing your channel and attracting sponsors, link where ya get your parts from to help us guys and girls out, just saves allot of guess work and helps if comparing, cheers again.🤟
@@bendaga it was my great grandmothers, she lived in toronto so she never really drove it. it was passed down to my parents and i bought it off of them. it has about 111000 km on it atm. and it still runs very nicely! such a solid car. also awesome video btw!
Sweet video! Did you ever reconnect the sway bar links? I just lifted the front of my 07, now I've gotta try to find end links that are gonna fit. Any suggestions?
So there are extended sway bar mounts needed, or do you grab those from the Forester as well? I have a 2002 outback I am wanting to stuff forester struts in, or even better yet, get the KYB struts and king springs in install that.
hi , this video was long time and i hope you still active and healthy in this difficult times , i have a question for your, i am trying to lift my 2002 impreza wagon with the same system as you did with your car , but i am very bad mechanic , the sway bar that you took off in order to fit the new shocks how did you put this on or together again ?? i saw that you remove some part from the back shocks can you tell me where this part came from or the names ??? the year from the forester , and how much did you pay for all the shocks ?? great videos and thx a lot
Hey Alex, Thanks for reaching out. I actually made a video about reconnecting the sway bars already. You should be able to find it. I think it's episode 7? Can't remember off the top of my head. You will need to use extended sway bar end links to run the sway bars again. But if you are in a pinch, you can still drive the car without sway bars with it being lifted. Just be easy when taking corners and drive at your own risk. As for the struts, those came off of a 2004 Subaru Forester. That will give you desired lift that you are looking for. 03-08 struts will fit your car (which is a GD chassis). If you have any other questions, I'd really suggest joining the Bugeye Impreza Facebook group and those folks can help you out as well. Best of luck on your build! -Z
They do wear the front axles a little quicker. I’ve had the car for 4 years and had to replace the front cv’s once. But I have other cars so this isn’t being driven constantly.
So I finally got the struts and I’m about to put them on with the arm spacers for the rear. Do i need any arm spacers in the front so that the wheel won’t move ? Or is it just the rear wheel that moves? Thanks for helping out
@@bendaga Thanks so much for your knowledge and quick reply. I won’t be going any higher than the forester struts. So I should be fine right? With just the rear arm spacers?
My buddy's got 2 lifted subarus hes got a lofted outback and a lifted 2.5 rs lifted subies are always the way,and I have a svx so I feel left out being so low.
That's a valid concern to have. Another way to do this is swap the top hats from the Impreza struts and use them on the Forester struts. You will need spring compressors to get the top hats but it means you wouldn't have to file down the rear of the chassis. But as long as you measure correctly, you shouldn't have any sort of issues. I've have this car like this for years now and it's never been an issue.
I have been trying man that was my first thought as well but idk where you are but the two in Portland and the one in Vancouver are slim pickings I don’t know what’s interchangeable from the gc8’s I’m not trying to lift it or nothing but want to fix everything I can without killing my wallet because Subaru parts are Ridiculously over priced for no reason people try to buy my car all the time it’s funny I like your content man got my sub just out of Curiosity is your oil leak and ending up dripping from the Thermostat housing? Mine is and I have not been able to locate it I don’t have any symptoms of it being the head just kind of curious if other ones of these cars are having the same experience
These were specifically off of a 2004 Forester, but you can use 03-08 Forester struts if you want to have this exact lift. 98-02 work as well and are a big cheaper, but I think the lift is slightly less.
@@bendaga yea I haven’t tackled the rear yet I’ve been working on it all day but my drill sucks so the drill bits are just spinning and my file I have is so skinny it’s taking forever and now I have back problems at 15
