Drifting in rally is done purely to get around corners faster while D1GP and FD focus on speed, style and showmanship. It's tantamount to comparing figure skating with speed skating, it makes absolutely no sense, dipshit.
Moist Nugget that's because they're racing in different surfaces, whereas the D1GP/Formula Drift races we're competed in tarmac, rally cars spend most of their mileages in gravel, snow, and occasionally tarmac surfaces
That's not a blow off valve!! The car doesn't have one, the sound is compressor surge! When the compressed air is trying to work it's way back through the boost pipes and out the turbo the way it came in through the comp housing! This noise is caused when the car doesn't have a blowoff valve to blow the compressed air off!!!
You can have that sound on your own Impreza simply by deleting the standard recirculation valve!!! Most people do this now!! It won't be as loud as this cars but it still sounds way better than a dump valve
Bossboy ritch No1 no you’re wrong these rally cars have fully recirculating blow off valves/bypass valves that diverts the air back to the turbo, thus creating that high pitch chirping sound rather than the deep stu stu stu that you hear on cars such as supras. It’s used so the turbo is constantly spooled up
your alll wrong lol its just the sound of air pushed back and forth at very high pressure. think about it, a turbo is spinning fast, air comes towards it, it pushes it away, has nowhere to go, comes back again etc etc Such a misconception of of some. Some people even say "its the sound of the turbo spinning bcakwards" lol chinese whispers on the internet

Fairly sure the one driving thoughout most of the video is colin macrae, and he's considered to be a legend for the most part. But you'd still be thouroughly impressed by an average rally driver
@@RealLargeManTheGiantOne Colin is like the Ayrton Senna of rally since he isnt statistically the best but he definitely shouldve been since they both died way too soon As far as I've heard Sebastian loeb is like Lewis hamilton (correct me if I'm wrong on that bit)
@@Joopyter724 Seemed like McRae went off the boil when he moved to Citroen and then Skoda. Whether it was the way the newer cars needed to be driven or he just wasn't happy in those cars I'm not sure? Loeb outclasses Hamilton in every way in my book 🤓
The old Impreza rally cars were the best simply because they are just right Good weight balance, good handling, good power They are in essence very controllable and predictable meaning it's easier to be fast. This is even true for their old road cars
I have old 96` N/A GF8 Impreza. I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 on it for summer tires. 116 HP only, but damn. I don't need even brake on corners. Just working on gas. 130/140 kmph on wet, country, single-carriageway road while full storm with heavy rain on the outside - and u can still drive by one hand. The handling and predictable of old Imprezas is something from another universe.
What is that pipe blowing off pressure on the gc8 Impreza exiting the sill behind the front left wheel???? Check it when Colin mcrae spins at 7:46!! All group A gc8 Imprezas have them!!! They're hard to spot at first but you can clearly see them on left hand turns on all the Tarmac videos! Only on the gc8! That's the first impreza to those who don't no!
