I just installed this a couple days ago on my 2017 STi and I'm loving it. I instantly downloaded a different launcher. Since you stated you don't like the UI, you can change to whatever launcher will work. I use Nova Launcher. It's what I've been using on my phone for years. It definitely cleaned up the home screen because it's so customizable.
I had this before on my older STI but since then I traded to a STI with the newer headunit with carplay so been using that but I remember mine used to get black screen from time to time and used a pen tip to click the reset button even while driving and that solved the issue for me.
@@AutoEnthusiast I do have the HK system in my wrx buuut I have an android phone. This headunit looks to be a great setup for the andriod and the customization abilities for the music look in depth. Plus Im a sound nut and I always look for ways to improve quality
Wife is picking up an '18 Forester on Tuesday, and I was disappointed when I realized that model year never got Carplay. Likely doing to be iDoing her up! Thanks for the vid!
If you hold the power button for long enough it will do a hard restart and then you'll be able to connect to Bluetooth. You don't need to shut off your car
Is there a reason you haven't gone into the settings and changed the home screen? It seems like that's your biggest knock but there are videos all over YT showing how to do that.
Do you use wireless android auto/apple car play? If so, have you noticed a difference in volume as opposed to Bluetooth or radio volume? I love using the wireless android auto feature, but I find it disappointing that it doesn't match the volume level like it would when listening to BT or radio. So instead I use the GPS system and BT to play my music that way.
Hi, I am also looking at the large Joying screen. Do you have any thoughts on this head unit? It definitely looks even cleaner, but I don't want it if its too buggy.
Is that the newest model? I would hope microphone quality is good for the price. Can you use Subaru built in microphone is it on the ceiling of the car? Thanks
Hi, I just saw your video about the Idoing vs Seacane comparison, and the Idoing Long Term Review Subaru WRX. I have a Subaru Forester 2013 X Premium, and I decided to keep it many more years, so I want to upgrade its OEM Clarion radio. And your video strongly grabbed my attention. So I have a couple of questions for you so you can give me more lights about my desicion I have to make, whether to choose for a well known Brand or these chinese ones that has a lot more and interesting features as well as the biggest screen in the market and practically everything included to perform the installation. I think it has been a year since you made the video, so how is it going, do you have regrets? Is still performing good? I would like to know, if through the USB port, is it possible that the unit can recognize a external DVD via USB port, I have one connected in my laptop and works great so I was wondering if the native android OS would recognize it. Thank you so much for your kind attention.
Hello, how did you get the google maps to work? Mine isn’t working.. supposedly aliexpress said I have to put my SIM card? Makes no sense. Please help me! Trying to have google maps to work as well as RU-vid and Netflix! Help!
I'm not understanding how these work with the data and whatnot. Does it need a sim card and data plan to use map apps and the like, like some of the dashcams I've looked at? (Cloud functions, remote access from phone, etc.)
FWIW, heres my 1 year review - 2017wrx. i did the 9" idoing with volume & tuner knobs. After installing, instant regrets. Sound was definitely an improvement (initially) from the stock unit. However, nothing worked as advertised. Wireless Android Auto didnt work, so USB was used instead and that crashed all the time. 6months in, the sound quality went from perfect, to what i would call an illegally downloaded mp3 file - absolute trash. I was told it was probably my speakers, so i purchased a full set of speakers/tweeters. the sound still sucked. After a decent enough exchange with idoing "customer service" they told me that nothing was wrong, but offered an exchange - i paid shipping. I installed the new one, and sure enough, sound was back to great. now here i am again 6months afte the exchange and the sound quality dropped again. i reached out to idoing, and they told me there was nothing wrong with the one i sent back, and I havent heard anything back since after requesting troubleshooting tips, or diagnosis approaches.
Hey I was just wondering how do u get your Home Screen to be loaded right when you turn on your car? Mine keeps going into settings first then I have to press home.
Im considering installing this unit into my Forester XT 2015. BUT im conflicted cause i have the Harmon Kardon sound system and the hazard light is the large one. I have the "HUD" display controls on the streering wheel. So im not sure if i can get exactly what i need for my model and year.
This radio is awesome however the Bluetooth microphone is just trash tried several different aftermarket microphones with no change even did they’re newest update with the factory microphone still sucks no on can hear me I my car. Yet Idoing still not willing to help with exchange cause it’s been sometime and I have been complaining since the beginning.
Any idea if there's an Idoing setup for a 2002 wrx? The car has a 2007 STI full swap including interior. I currently have an empty slot for my head unit and want to get something put in like this
what voltage does the headunit put out? consensus that android headunits are garbage for sound quality... anybody that upgrades the stock headunit is going to "sound better" because it sends more voltage to the speakers. but how much? trying to compare to the well known headunit manufactures in sound.

Is there any issue with replacing head unit and losing xm radio? I have an xm subscription and just want to make sure I don’t lose it with this head unit
great videos as always my question is do you lose your center console USBs when u install idoing headunit or do the give u a harness or can u buy one to retain center console USBs
I used to have this unit took it right out and sold it for less than half price I didn't like a lot of things about the radio look very nice but too many negatives for me
@@evanmontana3368 microphone trash, the auto brightness doesn't work so you have to change the brightness at night manually every time u get in the car, the brightness at night is too bright even on the lowest settings, the GPS is only a trial, car play is not wireless, the unit doesn't know the difference between night and day
Yo man, just stumbled upon your channel. I bought an idoing for my 15wrx a few months ago, and out of nowhere a month or so after i installed, it started to do this weird thing, where the screen goes black and turns off back and forth all of the time. The touch still works and I remember how to get into bluetooth and carplay, but its been like 3 months or more at this point where it hasnt worked properly. I contacted idoing and they said they’d send a new screen, but they havent responded after that, what do i do lol

I loved the look and tech of mine, I was sad when it only lasted 1 month and had to return it and go back to stock. Mine crashed and had to be reset several times. Also, i think this works better for Iphone people over than Android people. :(
I'm thinking about getting their most recent one for my 2018 sti. I have the harman kardon so I'm wondering if around will improve or at least stay the same.
@@flatmotion1 Can't speak on the HK setup, but they do not provide an aftermarket camera. Just the wiring to use the existing camera. It's been a year since your comment, so you may have already figured that out already haha
@@andrewknutson91 it was all plug and play and worked. Unfortunately I took it back out because it actually ended up sounding worse. I fully lost sub control and the rear speakers were treated as sub woofers. Also the whole reason getting the wireless unit didn't work.. Turned out my phone at the time being 2,5 years old was already outdated to support wireless android auto. I ended up selling again
@@andrewknutson91 lol all good. Your review helped me making a decision back then but it was the hardware that failed me personally. It's a good head unit for the price. But I didn't want to spend money on a new phone as well lol. Might as well buy a proper head unit... After I fixed the engine lol
people who use "brand" names to describe a Generic product that has 3 different varieties with multiple options for each :/ "iDoing" just means 'generic chinese product sold by a re-branding company'. how about giving some essential information, like Android version, Ram size and Processor speed, so that if we buy the EXACT SAME PRODUCT under a different generic "brand name" or no brand name, then we can get some value from your content?
