How to set up an IV bag, line and needle and tips on how to make administering fluids to your cat easier for you and less stressful for your feline! www.fundamenta...
Thank you. You're the only one who explained that the fluid above and below the lines are about 100mL each. My dog has a heart condition so I didn't want to unknowingly give her too much.
WHEN THE BAG ONLY HAS 1/2 ML I'M AFRAID TO USE IT EVEN THO THE VET SAID TO AS I'M SCARED ONCE THE FLUID IS GONE AIR WILL GET INTO THE TUBE & I WON'T SEE RIGHT AWAY AS I'M A HANDICAPPED SENIOR WHO GIVES MY CAT HIS IV WO ANY HELP. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE IV BAG IS EMPTY?
My Lactated Ringers bag is different. It’s got 2 openings on the bottom. One is white (left). One is blue (right). I don’t know which one to put the line in. It doesn’t look like the bags I used to use for regular saline solution, for my other cat for the 4 1/2 years he had CRF, at the end of his life. My cat needs fluids urgently. I haven’t seen him urinate all day or have a bowel movement in 3 days. He has a GI infection. If anyone knows, please let me know!
Anyway you can help? For some reason my bag of ICU medical subcutaneous fluid won't stop leaking through the line. It's dripped out 400ml in just a few minutes even though I'm pinching the tip and I had to have it sitting upright overnight and I don't know if it safe to give it to my cat because I don't know if this is happening because of maybe a hole in the line or bag possibly and that's why it's leaking? But every time I Google it, it only will show me something to do with how to administer it to cats and how to set it up. I really need to find out why the line is leaking. Any ideas anyone,?
