What if i wanted to remove the subfloor while having the walls sit on it like in ur video? How would i go abouts removing a damaged subfloor without damaging the bottom plate? Esp if its a load barring

I'm having a huge dilemma. I want to redo my floor. Completely remove the subfloor. But like you said the subfloor is underneath the wall structures. What do I do? If I remove the subfloor will the walls cave in if I remove the subfloor? I never don't this. It's a really decent old house 1940s and they have sibe straps as the subfloor. Please help 😭
You cut the subfloor out with a flush cut saw I think I have a video on that somewhere it's also known as a toe kick saw go around the whole outside edge right up and get your walls remove the subfloor nothing will happen to the walls you'll be fine

If your subfloor has nice quality wood planks- can you use that as the main floor? Or is that not normal? We have carpet throughout the house (except kitchen and bathrooms are tile).
Hi I am doing a project on my basement I want to replace my carpet and install laminate do I need to put a vapour barrier or just lay it on top of the wood? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated thanks.
What I do in basements is all concrete gets coated with three coats of dry lock it's a masonry waterproofer it stops moisture ,stops water, stops mold, and will help stabilize room temperature... I've done vinyl right on top of concrete and I've done carpet right on concrete after being treated with drylok.. if you have a modular wood floor I would take that up to three coats of drylok on the concrete put your wood back down and put the vinyl right on top of the wood.. I have a video on drylok and waterproofing your basement this might be helpful to you

I just did some research about underlayment and the first 5 opinions I read said never glue underlayment to the subfloor. These were flooring professionals. What am I missing? Thanks.
And if you're going to put down ceramic tile you're going to mortar the cement board to the subfloor which is stronger than glue so I don't know why someone would say that not to use glue
@@addismultitasking3504 What's your opinion about staples? The marks for fastening underlayment are typically at 6" in the field and 3" on the seams. All those fasteners AND glue? When i went to search for info I assumed glue would be common and that's what I was planning...
@@addismultitasking3504 A bit more research and the main reason given for not gluing is that in the future you may want to get back to the subfloor. In my case I'm going for extra rigidity so I will glue. Still curious about staples though...
