I shot this in Colton, Ca. @ the "Showdown at the Ghost Town" show on Oct. 9th 1993 (Movieland Frontier Town). The audio can be kind of crap at times but that's because I was filming next to the monitors. Enjoy, Eric
Holy shit! I was there! Sooo many good bands that day! No Doubt, Untouchables, Skeletones, Specs, Suburban Rythm, Voodoo Glow Skulls, Face to Face. Once in a lifetime show, before they were famous!! That show Seriously impacted my life. Thank you fire the memory!!
+raven symone Notice no one cares there. Cause they were a dime a dozen back then, bands like sublime. In that part of Cali at least. The only reason they blew up is cause Bradly belew off/
bands like sublime were a dime a dozen. but sublime definitely had something special. he was an incredible lyricist. he was a tortured genius, i think that's very easy to see and a lot of people do.
JonnyUnderrated The majority of people after Sublime blew up didn't even know of Brads passing. So if "belew off" means him dying which I assumed it did. Then you are mistaken.
I was at this gig. Correct me if I am wrong but it was No Doubt, Skeletones, Voo Doo Glow Skulls and Sublime. Total dust bowl and one of the best times ever. Yeah I am old but got to see bands like this live all the time. I will take the age with that kind of fun under my belt.
I saw this show. The Skeletones and Dave Wakeling also played and I believe No Doubt headlined, still a year or two away from blowing up. I remember people already thinking No Doubt was selling out when they premiered a song called "World Go Round" or some shit that everyone thought was "too KROQ" lmao! But wish they had the whole video of Sublime's performance, from what I remember (and I was on shrooms or acid so it's a little hazy) the performance was cut short cause Bradley was too high to continue, passing out on or near the amps, and the band had to leave the stage under a chorus of boos and raining beer cans 😅
I’m 44 now, and was just a couple years too young to ever experience Sublime live despite them playing in my old CA hometown multiple times. Still, their music soundtracked my high school life in the mid 90s. So many core memories attached to their songs. There’s an eerie nostalgic sense when I watch home videos of 90s concerts like this and the behind the scenes clips from that era. It’s a whole other world that doesn’t and will not ever exist again. Grateful to have been there, but it’s sad to know how downhill the world has gone since. The 90s were the last frontier. And I don’t think some of the folks born after that decade but who opine for that era of nostalgia, would be able to hang with how gritty things really were back then. No shade just an observation based off of the juxtaposition to how social interactions flowed back then compared to today- just like I would have a hard time being a teen in today’s social media era.
Holy Crap! I was there. Dance Hall Crashers, Suburban Rhythm, Face to Face, Sublime, Dave Wakeling of the English Beat, LOL! Great show....I was up on stage for most of that set...and Opie pushed my Buddy Steve off stage!
poorly I never saw them live (I'm too young). But you see how Brad could improvise so much: he's got great bass and drum men who are giving a solid basis. And all together: Amazing!
Thanx for the vid. I was there. I'm from Colton. I was shocked to see this big show happen in this small town. All of the bands were Awesome. What a kick Ass day.I still have the 2 shirts that they sold there. I'm friends with the Skeletones. Cheerz, Drewsbrew69
THANK YOU!!!!!! But seriously can you still hear anything? Look at ERIC GO. I wonder if anyone knew what this show meant at that time, im sure someone knew but barely.... take me back to 93, look at the wallflowers sitting still in the background, WTF
I saw them live with like 200 people, at sea port marina, walked right up onstage and got a guitar pick from Brad, then went backstage and saw a crazy mess, the backstage preparty was gnarly, ended up in a huge food fight, I think hed-pe played, no doubt played too, I think, saw con there too, same deal, got a pick from monkey, those were the days...
Right on!!! Thanx for posting this. I was there and I live in Colton. It was cool yet shocking to have a show this awesome happen in a small town. I still have the 2 shirts that I bought. Ha Ha. I'm also an old friend of the Skeletones. Cheerz.
