Sublimes STP was located on the streets of Anaheim (Local slang: 'AnaCrime') and Ohio Ave. here in Long Beach. Not far from the payphone that was on the corner which constantly had hookers conducting business calls on it. If you have ever been to Alex's Bar here in Long Beach than you have probably walked right past where the STP used to be. There is no way of knowing how many tracks or albums were mixed or recorded at the location. Robbin The Hood was for sure created under that roof. Brad had no pad of his own at the time and was couch surfing around LBC when he discovered the mysterious place now known as the 'Secret Tweaker Pad'. Bradley had an 8 track recorder at the time that he would record samples and fragments on. so he could later mix the segments into songs. Often recording each instrument or lyric individually so he could layer them as needed when he got the opportunity to record (actually quite genius, i think)... They had bootlegged cable and electricity to the location not paying for the services. The pad was a 24/7 party spot with traffic going in and out all hours of day and night. The structure was damaged by an earthquake and abandoned when the Sublime crew started hanging there and turned it into a thrash pad. Not much is really known about the place and those who were involved at the time of its existence are reluctant to discuss details of the place except it's location, much less memories of the times during the peak as we picture it from the details of this song. I can't help but think of the Lyrics in the song "Jailhouse" when Brad sings ''You Had To Be There''... STP was a product of the times and is now lost in exactly that... time. What we are left with is the imagery from this song and 'word on the street'. Hope this sheds some light on the song if you were wondering about further details. Much of this i heard via word of mouth growing up in L.B. by locals who were a generation before me, around during the same times as Sublime. Hope it helps. Peace.
The thing I love about Brad is that everytime he sang any of his songs he always made suttle differences in the lyrics making it unique every single time. I have heard four or five live versions of this song, and they are all awesome!!!

Loved in a crack motel in St Louis for a while. Lots of heroin overdose, stabbings, and gunshots. This song was always being played in every room while people were shooting up, sucking on a crack pipe, or slamming alcohol like there was no tomorrow. And for a lot of those people, there was no tomorrow. They are all dead and the lucky ones just went to prison for the rest of their lives. Yeah, this song is so uplifting

I actually like this version compared to the studio version...Brad's voice is simply amazing in this! The second chorus gives me goosebumps when he sings it.

My house is the official stp of my neighborhood, shitty little 3 room i share with my friends but we always got like 10 people over here... i got off the needle a bit ago so i take care of everybody, smoke some weed, and keep some sublime playing all the time XD
