I was on ESA and DLA. My DLA was a lifetime award, but when it was transferred to PIP, I had to go for an assessment after completing the questionnaire they sent. They contacted me saying I didn't need to go to the assessment, but they changed the award from middle care and low mobility to the highest care with no mobility award. I did end up with more money as the highest care was more than my previous award. It was the letter my GP sent as evidence, and that of my physiatrist was what they accepted as proof of inability to work was accepted. They only gave the award for 2 years, though.They wanted to change my ESA to the work capability, which I appealed, and they reversed that decision. I turned pension age and received a letter saying that my award would be looked at in 10 years because of my age. My review is 2027, but I live in Scotland, and my PIP is moving in September to the Scottish government, which is not going to aggressively challenge people's awards and will become Scottish Adult Disability . Anyone who gets turned down for ESA and PIP must appeal. The citizens' advice bureau can help with your appeal

The DWP have caused two mental health crises with me. The issue is not resolved.In March this year I was sent a letter to attend WCA for ESA .At the time I was having a real meltdown and was staying with my mum .I had lots of things all at once stressing me including being diagnosed with pre cancerous cells which I needed treatment for I cancelled the first appointment.After I went home I was given another appointment .I sat around all morning waiting enventually phoned them they gave me some excuse about another client taking too long and the doc was behind.To cut along story short it is now July and they have cancelled five times .I have a new appointment but the impact the stress has had on me is awful.I have been in crisis.The excuses are feeble and I honestly feel they are torturing me.They even decided I needed a face to face which I subsequently could not attend due to my nerves .I had to get lots of evidence to support this .The effect on me has been terrible I feel I should put a complaunt in any thoughts @rich and@cara
Congrats Jess, I have many issues with not only my physical health but mental health too, I crap myself whenever the brown letter arrives and last week after a week and half of a hospital stay it arrived, I have absolutely crap loads of evidence but I still go into full panic mode when this happens. Hopefully they actually read my evidence and this will be ok, but until I get a pleasant notification from them I will be bricking it. Once again well done and deserved and hope your life is going well.
Jess seems to have the exact same issues as me, and I can’t tell you how badly you have to fight as an Autistic adult who can’t go out alone and is unable to function daily. I’ve learned over time how to navigate their bullsh*t, but I feel for people like Jess who are blindsided by this for the first time. So, so pleased she got what she was entitled to in the end!

Nothing will change with pip until assessors face consequences for bad decisions. As it stands, disabled people are put through hell by assessors. A disabled person can literally have their lives ruined and plunged into severe poverty for months on end or even years, all on the say so of one single person who doesn't even know you. Many of the decisions eventually get overturned, but that assessor suffers no consequences or even loses the bonus they got, and the disabled person ends up traumatised and often even more ill. It's insane that these assessors are allowed to have so much individual power over disabled people's lives. That one assessor can literally turn a life upside down for months or years. I honestly can't believe this practice exists in the UK. It's cruel, open to exploitation, and often even abusive.

I applied about 14years ago for DLA, denied, appealed and won. Approx 5 years ago was told to re-apply for PIP. Denied, mandatory reconsideration denied after loads of lies told by the 'health worker', went to tribunal and had both parts agreed. Was due my re-assessment but, due to changes in my health neither of the conditions are going to improve, they are doing a change of circumstances assessment which is due on Thursday. I'm seriously expecting to be turned down again. I don't understand how this could even be a possibility as my original issue will never improve and things have got so much worst in the last 3 months. The whole system is set up to fail the people who need the help while paying illegal immigrants everything. I am so pissed off about it all.
This is one of the reasons why I and probably most other people do not apply for PIP. We know from the start that we won't get it; and even if we do, they will try their best to take it back from us. I had 3 strokes, I could do with a mobility scooter, and the extra money as always could be useful; of course, we all know you don't get both. What a con.🙄
Congrats Jess, you did the right thing, you stuck up for your self at the moment of disaster, your courage & persistence got you through a difficult moment in your life, you are entitled to the benefits you applied for in the first place, you have set a standard for all others whose lives are painful & miserable on a day to day basis & let’s hope that the dreaded DWP have learnt another lesson of Don’t mess with us we will fight you all the way & unlike the football game, we will win & prosper till death as do part😊
I am a paranoid schizophrenic with anxiety. Previously I was on enhanced living and standard mobility pip allowance for 5 years. After a review this was stopped in Nov 2023. Awaiting tribunal. Of course the fact that I can look after my cat was mentioned 5 times on my assessment. The assessor wanted to know I had achieved a MA degree in my 20s now 57 and more worrying my economic status that I was a home owner paid for and that I had significant savings as not on universal credit and that I had worked as a nurse albeit 10 years ago before dramatic deterioration in my condition. I am married he worked hence the savings and we inherited money. Why is this their bloody business. Although on the care programme approach 4 years ago as I do not have a care coordinator anymore due to cuts they considered I no longer have a need and said I was not under anyone although see psychiatrist twice yearly. I sent over 200 pages of evidence and past care plans and psychologist's reports but apparently this was no longer relevant and I no longer qualified for pip.
Just had the heads up from a mate who worked in benefits . Benefit seekers who go on esa at 138.50 a week will not be moved onto u,c. The indigenous people on esa will they will have thier money taken when forced onto u,c this is happening now whether your benefits are running out or not I am terminal and this will happen to me unbelievable .
Looks like the benefits system needs a serious upgrade! Maybe they should hire your mate for some insider tips.... we could to be fair do a better job right lol ?
Few years back, when l had a pip home visit, one of their questions was, ' do l have any pets' ? ..l said Yes, and pointed to the the statues l had on my window sill , the assessor then quickly answered, l have written it down now, so l then said sternly, You better then un write it then !!!! She then huffed and puffed, and carried on ..
The pets question is both unfair and stupid,because chronically ill people still have children and still have to get up feed them and take them to school and pick them up etc .Do they take points off people for having kids? Well no they don't so why take points off a blind person for having a dog.😆😆
Lucky to get home visit.I was told to get doc note,which I did and still didn’t get one.what was the point.went and was in bed 3 days after.cruel. Evil people.
Hi Richard, long time follower of your channel and I want to say thank you for the great information and content. Congrats to Jess in her battle and I know personally how she feels as I have the same form of autism. (Aspergers) I know exactly what she went through as I currently am at the appeal process for the second time. The first was over the first covid lockdown where I won after tribunal. This time around again the DWP have stopped my PIP (All zeros) because I don't have "Any record of medication or over the counter prescriptions" which in my MRN I said I do not need medication for my condition. I should have my case looked at again in September >.< I've won it once and I know that I can win again. Great to hear a positive result and hopefully more to come. Oh and thank you for calling Aspergers correctly as I hate it when people pronounce it Aspebergers as there is no b in it. keep up the awesome work bfn
I've just read this and may I say good on you 💪 damn right take em on and show them. You deserve that money they have no right to take it away. Sometimes we have to fight for what we believe it but I believe in this strongly. Hope you will win again but I am sure you will do :)

In all honesty the money though nice as a safety net it's my mobility bus pass which is my life saver and gives me my freedom and knowledge I don't have to worry about bus fares and such. Sounds very close to what happened to me years ago .. 3 points I scored as an Aspie with mad agoraphobia, social anxiety's, and the general attributes that come along with ASD. Had to fight through a tribunal for something like 7 months and managed to get 20 eventually. But they will use absolutely any excuse and lie to deduct points or not give the amount of points you should - For example: For mobility I received zero points, yet I have arthritis (Ostio and rheumatoid) in both fee, both knees and also osgood schlatter's disease in my right knees ... BUT! .. because I can walk even though its madly painful .. that's no reason to receive points! ...
Unbelievable I am so sorry you are more than deserving two very very difficult conditions to cope with as I have two nephews with Autism and myself sweet little 3 year old granddaughter and her parents my Daughter and Son in law are going through daily battles sleep deprived since she was born due to celiac disease, dairy allergy and severe reflux from birth, two and half years of being sick and diarrhoea every night until hospital admissions they finally knew what was wrong, It cost them a fortune in dietary foods , She can’t go to mainstream nursery with free vouchers now so they have employed a nanny two days a week which is costing them £150 a day meaning they are ploughing into their savings also my Daughter had to make a heartbreaking decision to close her small business last year as she was at breaking point. Her Husband is now the sole bread winner with a large mortgage huge outgoings council tax large bills, My Daughter spends most of her time in semi permanent lockdown she’s become a prisoner. A few weeks ago my Daughter told me she had considered driving to the bridge between our two counties to jump of because she’s so exhausted can barely stand from exhaustion and nearly fainting regularly no time to eat properly. It absolutely breaks my heart because she couldn’t have to move loving parents my Daughter goes above and beyond to do everything to help her little girl really creatively never ever shouts just pure love for her.
Also I have known a handful of people with MS it’s a devastating condition that rarely gets better what is it does to your body is awful the struggles are many. I hope you get justice in the end.
Hi i have a long history of DWP atrocities. Happy to speak to you to give you some history ie compelled to wait 9 months to be in receipt of income support. then appealing a decision to strip me of DLA and ignoring all my appeals. it subsequently took me almost 9 years to recover my DLA benefit. Involving Independent Case Examiner in my opinion although they were lovely very professional and very sympathetic have no teeth. i used to work for solicitors and have evidenced everything however i didnt realise how brutally ambivalent and corrupt and evil the system was and still is. i can speak more in person. the system is designed to trap people and confuse them to corrall innocent people towards steering them into deprivation. SHAMELESS. All my letters, e mails and phone calls to Job Centres ignored and i even went to the CEO's office after 9 months and handed him a formal complaint this resulted in a meeting with a senior executive who was embarrassed.
I just feel like we are being controlled by them,. I suffer with grand mal epilepsy as well they have stopped my half of my pip payment and I only get mobility...I get the highest and low . They have stopped my sons carers money as well. I've had epilepsy since 3years old I'm 48 and never ever worked ..They arw taking the piss and my pip as been stopped since march this year ,..And 😢I'm struggling big time my boyfriend as had to come over from Canada. now to look after me, these points arw ludicrous. The people at dwp think of themselves the way they speak to me is sad...I've had so many of my friends die because of dwp.
Good morning guys and all, I am so angry at hearing what this poor lady had to go through and I'm also truly not surprised with the way things are going now, we just have to keep fighting till they realise they won't win by lieing and treating disabled people the way they do, apart from that oh this is just giving me more stress and anxiety as I'm on my way to the hospital because my poor mum collapsed Saturday on the kitchen floor hitting her head very badly as you can imagine
My mum completely blanked out she suffers from low blood pressure she is still in the hospital waiting for a brain scan internal scans it has been a really stressful and worrying time and it's also brought to my fibromyalgia to a severe height and anxiety like I've never had before, can't even eat or sleep at the moment , please pray for my mum thankyou love you all guys ❤🙏😢
I've been through two tribunals so know how stressful it is .Hope don't have to again . They make their own report of things and don't take any notice of what you are telling them .😡
Do you need permission to have a partner? That’s a new one. I never heard about this before.. it’s a nanny state, you need permission to do anything from sneeze or go to the lavatory or even go for a walk anywhere it’s becoming ridiculous.
Why does it have to be the job lot inc housing benefit etc and the loss off official existance untill one makes another claim that takes far longer than the press of a button by personns acting without being authorised to do so. Where does the data and money go.perhaps trading.perhaps ID theft?
