Keepin' it cheap....J-pipe off the factory exhaust manifold, chinese copy gtx3071r, rebuild and set up the holley for boost and elec fuel pump and reg. Fit an afr gauge and keep the timing conservative also keep the boost under 12psi on the stock block, no.1 cylinder likes to split just behind the water pump, if the head gasket doesn't let go before hand. 🍻
glad you got the motor running better, sounds great! if you want to quiet the exhaust down, run the tailpipe past the transom and plumb some of the cooling water into the pipe. will make a big difference.
When you put the cam in will be interesting to see if it still has the original fibre gear on the cam shaft 😂. We have a old boat with a 202 and single stage Hamilton jet great fun. Keep up the good work
I’d love to see the red motor stay in it with either a blower or turbo hanging off it. That would be wild. I bet it draws some attention from those houses on the river 🤣
I think the red 6 is here to stay! There’s just something about it that makes the boat really cool. At this point hull design and jet size are more of a limiting factor than horsepower. It gets lots of attention lol.
you'd need to rev the shit out of it in order to go faster, the original motor in it had no issues revving out to 7.5k when I had it, was propped for 40-somthing mph from memory, ripped to motor out and slapped it in a jet boat with a unit propped for 100km/h, got the boat out to about 80 at 6k rpm
Hi. Just some info regarding your drive line. I can only see half of a double universal joint attached to the jet shaft. If you don't have a duplicate of this mounted to the flywheel, then you've only got half of what you need. Also the angle of the drive shaft to the jet should only be between 1 - 3 degrees. It appears from the video that it's more than that. I'd advise you to raise the engine so that the drive line is within this tolerance. Cheers, Wayne Murray - Murray Marine Jets (Melbourne).
There is another uni at the flywheel. It would not last one rev with only one uni. The angle is a bit, but it doesn’t vibrate, it’s actually quite smooth now.
Love it, but what's happened to the jet ski? (outbourd ski) and on your new electronic ignition system, I seen problems with plug gap. The points run 0.8 and I think the electronic ignition runs 1.5
This is the coolest thing you own and don't ever paint it or run anything but a red motor it's just a in ya face STRAYA thing the sort of shit that waß just around when we were kids
