This was chosen by Cesar (newest member of VoicePlay) and arranged by Geoff, who said he cried doing the editing. And who can blame him. The harmonies are just so delicious in this one. Arguably his best yet. I didn't know the song before either but I doubt I'd want to hear it now anyway. This is just perfect. Don't worry about your "man crush", you're not alone. One reactor at least has said that he's straight but he could turn for Geoff LOL. And we ladies know how you feel. :) Lovely reaction.
Caesar is just so freaking beautiful 😍 Eli and EJ have vocal riffs for days 😍 Layne has a beautiful singing voice 😍 Geoff is just a force of nature, everything he does is just beyond words 😍
Great reaction. I also love these guys. I'm 63 and they make me feel young again. My bedroom walls and dresser mirror can street to that. They are everywhere. Several of Geoff alone. Especially in My Mother Told Me and The Rains of Castamere. My 2 most favorite. Yes. Geoff is very sexy and has a beautiful voice. Especially in the 2 I mentioned.
So glad you listened to this one. Personally, I think this is one of his most lush and gorgeous arrangements. They don't do ballads often, but when they do, it's powerful. If humor is your preference, there's a whole group of Disney songs and medleys...
Thank you for an awesome reaction to Voice Play. Layne the beat boxer also has a beautiful voice. I hope he gets a bigger part next. This song would have been perfect for Layne. As usual the all did a fantastic job. Voice Play could sing the ABC'S & make it sound good. I am so glad you liked it ❤️
I had not heard the song before but from another commentor it seems it was done by Bonnie Raitt in the 90s. It is a beautiful song. Heartbreaking but beautiful. Besides Mr. Bass, we have newbie Cesar de la Rosa who started the song and asked to do this piece. He is listed as baritone but, like the others, doesn’t stay in his lane. In VoicePlay’s cover of Dream On, he does the famous Steven Tyler high note. Seated on the arm of the couch is their guest artist, EJ Cardona who is one of the leads in the a cappella group Voctave. He and his brother Omar have both appeared with VoicePlay before and always add their incredibly smooth voices to the mix. With the rock tenor and all the riffs is Eli Jacobsen. He also has a 4+ octave range. He probably has the most versatile voice, ranging from soft and sweet to crazy rock tenor to incredible riffs and runs. Layne Stein, cofounder with Geoff, (they meet in middle school) was originally the baritone. When their beatboxer left in the early 2000s he switched over to beatboxing. But he has an absolutely stunning baritone voice. So sweet and lovely. His range is also reported as five octaves like Geoff’s , but I’m not sure he always sings notes as he has a truly impressive array of sounds he makes as a beat boxer. And of course you know Geoff. He only started doing his own videos when the pandemic hit, but as a member of VoicePlay you really ought to check more of them out. They have about 180 pieces on their channel and although he doesn’t necessarily headline a lot of them he always has a part. If you want to see some Geoff heavy pieces you might check out the cover of Oogie Boogie closer to Halloween. He also gets a good chunk of time in their Christmas video You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch. Although it’s more of an ensemble piece, he really gets to show off that impressive voice in their Dragonborn comes video. He could be the dragon.
Voice Play has many awesome older cover songs you will love. 1. Carry On My Wayward Son. 2. Mr. Blue Sky. 3. Tennessee Whiskey 4. Very Superstitious. 5. Friends On The Other Side. 6. Hoist The Colors from Pirates of The Caribbean. 7. The Little Mermaid. 8. Frozen 2 9. Queen In 5 Minutes Some newer ones 10. Dream On 11. The Dragonborn Comes Skyrim 12. Halo theme song from the Halo video game. 13. Running Up That Hill. Always wait until the credits roll before stopping any video from Voice or you just may miss something good. Please try to react to them when you can fit them. Have fun & thanks again. I forgot another oldy by Voice Play. The Death Of A Bachelor. Sung only with Geoff & Earl. Geoff was doing the beat boxing in this as well as singing. Who knew he could beat box. They are known as The Theater Kids I guess because they performed in Disney when they were younger.
I will be here every time you react to Geoff and Voiceplay! Subscribed in anticipation of more. I had not heard this song before, but it's not necessary, because it's Voiceplay!! It was wonderful to hear Layne sing again, his baritone is so sweet! EJ is a fantastic tenor who normally sings with Voctave. Eli is a powerhouse, Cesar is so cute - but Geoff. My absolute favorite. His cover of 16 Tons was the gateway drug that helped me find Voiceplay. Some of their older pieces that are fantastic are Mr Blue Sky, Anyway You Want It, and Tennessee Whiskey. All of them have the Earl and J None group. I'll be back!
One of the things I love most about this cover is that Layne doesn't beatbox. Its one of the few songs that you actually get to hear him singing. It happens so rare that you tend to forget that Layne actually has a very beautiful voice.
There isn't much beatboxing with this one - mostly snapping fingers. Layne's voice is a lovely addition. This is gorgeous. I laughed at your reaction to the movie version now. I know whereof you speak. The original here was done by Bonnie Raitt. The people I have heard that loved her version said VoicePlay's is at least 10 times better OR they were glad VoicePlay did put the word Cover in their title, since they created a whole new song with this. And they did!
