Hello! Thank you for another great reaction to Dimash! He grew up with his parents performing on stage, and he began his own stage performances very early. He would run up on stage and bow with his parents. He said the stage is his home.
From what I've seen in interviews Dimash was already semi famous in his own country but it seems he wasn't taken very seriously because of his ability to use the high register. It's still a very traditional country and some people did comment that he sounded like a woman. So when he had the opportunity to go to China, where they have a very long history of similar voices, even using men to sing female operatic roles he was instantly taken to the heart of the Chinese, quickly becoming an idol due to his height and good looks. Dimash's first album ID went platinum in 37 seconds and triple platinum in under 90 minutes. He's conquered China and the CIS countries. Now he's slowly taking on the rest of the world whilst still remaining a completely independent artist. To have reached the level of success that he has without the massive investment and promotion that his peers can take advantage of is nothing short of miraculous and the quality of his performances and music videos are testament to the esteem that other musicians and directors hold for him.
I love impressive voices. If a guy can sing like a girl, kudos. If a girl can go bass, I'm all in. Have a cat sound like a human, let's listen. There are so many brilliant and unique voices out there, why not take time to enjoy something special for what it is. I, for one, am glad not everyone sounds like me. That would be boring... and disturbing ;)
I really enjoy your heartfelt reactions to the untouchable Dimash! There's another video of this exact performance that's just a little longer and includes his interaction with his father after he finished singing. This was his 2nd performance (which he won) and up to this point he was there in China alone, didn't speak the language and was extremely homesick as he's very close to his family. His father showed up and was hiding from Dimash so as not to interfere with his concentration. When he finally sees his father in the audience it's the sweetest thing. You've got to watch it! (I'm guessing you can search for it as "Dimash sings Opera 2 with his father in audience", or something like that. )
👉Opera#2 was the second song in the competition "Singer 2017". All is live! That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to RU-vid ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). He has Progressed and improved So Much these last years...from Boy to Man, and a Master of his craft!! This was in 2017, contest lasted 14 performances and it was the tool DIMASH needed to propel him to international stardom, first performance SOS had over 600 million going on line to find out who he was and he became famous overnight. Song offers and movies, etc. all came his way, he was everywhere on Chinese tv.

It was a very controlled singing contest in China, no auto tune or lip synch8ng is allowed in China and no one got any help. He was only 22 and there by himself. He said backstage, just b4 SOS, that he was very, very, very nervous, but you cannot tell. That's how good his stage presence is. If you watch the entire show, (including after he gets off the stage) you will see what he can do, or could do at 22. He is now just 28 and is even more impressive. Please try to see the entire show, even if you don't react to all of it,BUT you should do a reaction to Adagio. I like your reactions and comments and hope to see more of them for this amazing young man. A Tip: when he removes his earpiece and swings the mike,, watch out! Also watch his hands, he "conducts " himself.
Ikaniade which he did from a studio as well as Samaltau and Unforgettable Day from the digital 2021 performances. The first one Ikanaide he sings in Japanese from a studio for the Tokyo Jazz Festival due to covid restrictions. It is absolutely amazing. Samaltau, about a young man forced to leave his home and fight during WWI, Unforgettable Day, music written by Dimash as a teen.

On the extended version of the song at the end his father surprised him, he had been hiding in the audience, back stage Dimash asked his father twice if he sung well and said he wanted to go home, it was so heart wrenching
We should thank you for making these reactions, they are so enjoyable. If you continue with Singer you could react to at least Adagio and Autumn Strong. For Daybreak you should check the backstory and take a version with subtitles (Gloria Wu). And perhaps have a double reaction: Singer(ill), Bastau (first solo concert), both 2017. Subtitles are good to have in all Dimash's performances, since most lyrics are beautiful and meaningful. See you soon.
I'm so glad you are going to keep reacting to Dimash! I really like watching your reactions because you so obviously enjoy Dimash's talent and music! Whenever you get to "Daybreak", be sure to use the video with the backstory (Gloria Wu's channel) as another viewer has also mentioned. It's a song where you really need to know the story to get the full effect of the song. I also agree with the other viewer that a double reaction (Singer version and the version from the Bastau concert) would be great! You will enjoy seeing both back to back too. Do the version from Singer first as it came first chronologically.

You're correct. "The Singer" was his big break into the international spotlight. "S.O.S." was his first performance, and the response was so overwhelming that he woke up the next morning with a body guard assigned to him. He thought they were joking, but no. This was his second performance. He was also the youngest contestant ever on the show. He came in 2nd because they had a rule against giving the prize money to a foreigner. All the contestants are professionals invited to perform. in the two or three years after this show, I also discovered Hua Chenyu and Zhou Shen on this same program. I have a Chinese doctor who steered me to the program.

FOR PROFESSIONALS by invitation, this competition with months long grueling field eliminations before reaching this 13 televised weeks of eliminations is considered the toughest on the planet. He was the youngest at 22 that ever competed to this level. He ran it all the way to the end and lost to a Chinese national in China. Go figure. He had been professionally performing for years and studying on an elite level for 17 years, at age 5 the youngest student in its history accepted into the most distinguished music academy in his country. Yet was and remains, humble, dignified and a genuinely nice guy ! Mom an opera singer Dad a vocalist and former largest music producer in Eurasia. Now runs daily operations at Dimash's production company.
@@successfulbob truth is, he was set to enter the master's program at university, family had no idea he entered, told them at the last minute beginning of summer he was going into the first field elims, expected to make it about halfway, plenty of time for school and he kept winning..and winning ! Mom tells hilarious story of his running out of stagewear in China at 6'3" and they're all back in Kazakhstan, and a year after his father said a lightbulb went on. For MONTHS before the contest everytime he passed Dimash he was engrossed in something on the computer and taking notes. Didn't ring right and asked him. Dimash had researched every single past winner. Then studied every single performance of each winner and every other performer on the show with them before even entering. That should tell you a bit of how precise a thinker he is. Dad unphased said, typical Dimash, like that about everything. And who else in the world ? Ha ! Take care. P ps came back.
