He stole the batteries because he feels utterly powerless. It was a small meaningless way of compensating for the feeling of weakness he is being made to feel by having no choice but to be a "yes man" for his Dad.

I always thought Kendall was the one Logan truly wanted; Roman was deemed "the weak one" since childhood, Logan is too much of an old misogynist to ever consider Shiv for real and Connor barely even exist in his mind, but Kendall was the one groomed for the position from the start, he studied for it, always worked in the company, etc. There's just two problems: 1) Logan thinks Kendall is way too soft; and 2) Truthfully, Logan can't stand the thought of someone replacing him. He'll always think he's better than anyone else and no one will do a better job than him. Clearly he also enjoys diminishing the kids and seeing them competing for his attention, so even if in his heart he prefers Kendall, he can't stop bullying and toying with all of them

I think Logan really does consider Shiv, he keeps her too close for too long for it to be a ruse and that would be exceptionally cruel even for him. It's only at dinner with the Pierces that he realizes she can't separate her business sense from her personal feelings, and reconsiders.
@wackybrattyx
@wackybrattyx Год назад
@@nathancollins1715That’s more misogynistic nonsense. “Oh, Shiv was turned down because she’s a hysteric woman who can’t control her feelings”. Mm, actually, on average she managed her emotions more than Kendall who uses crack to manage his feelings, had an outburst/was in turmoil every 5 seconds re: the company and his family/father, and Roman who literally got involved with Gerry and couldn’t separate his feelings from work. In fact, the men in this show are the most emotionally volatile, which is why they ultimately failed to take over the company. That’s literally the point of their characters lol. So, no, if anything, Shiv was more stonecold than them - hence, why she was happy betraying Tom and her brothers at every turn, in spite of their relationship and associated feelings. She won because she’s always been the most self-interested and does whatever to benefit herself, even if it’s at the cost of her loved ones and “personal feelings”. As Tom said, pretty sure personal feelings aren’t her priority lol.

I don't think Logan wants any of them but I am convinced that even if the other siblings disappoint him as well they display more traits that Logan is interested in. Kendall is the most hysterical, never actually achieved anything in business on his own so experience earned him nothing, what he does know is technobabble and crowd pleasing, which Logan has zero respect for. SPOILER --> there's a line later on where Matsson calls Kendall and Roman a tribute band, together they were but it's also what Kendall always was when he was at his most serious, and I think by Season 3 when he was pulling the progressive reformer shit, Logan had completely tuned him out.

Legit every single episode of this season is GREAT. Really hyped you guys are sticking with it, and hope you do all the way to the end! And yeah Kendall was shoplifting just as a control/compulsion. He's his dad's puppet, he has no agency, and is def dealing with abuse-related trauma I think. One thing he can control is just stealing a battery, or two.

It gives the early impression that Shiv, as the youngest sibling and only daughter, was both disregarded by Logan as a serious person, but was also pampered as his precious little girl. They've mentioned a bunch that Shiv is dad's favorite. He'd raise his hands to his sons, but never his daughter. Each of the sibs is a different form of nepo baby with that emotional damage. Connor was ignored while Logan was still young abd busy working when he had Connor, and his mom wasn't as affluent as Caroline, so their marriage is, like, viewed as less important, and thus Connor is treated more like a bastard child. Kendall and Roman were brothers being pitted against each other, Roman the emotional and sensitive one who was constantly punished by their father for not being strong enough, and Kendall the rigid autistic child who had his awkward social idiosyncracies beaten out of him until he became this weird stiff attempt at cosplaying a serious buisiness person, and who is by far the most groomed and abused by Logan, as he's the closest to just trying to be a carbon copy of him. Shiv is the bratty princess one. She has an interesting relationship with being a woman in a male dominated think space, trying to adjust her behavior as maaculine coded and navigating a minefield of what will make people not respect her, but she's also a brat who was never told no growing up, which is why she just wants to have it all. She wants a nice simple man like Tom to comfort her when she's depressed, but she also doesn't want to be tied to anything. She wants to annoy her dad because she's a spoiled brat who likes the attention, but she doesn't seriously care about her political career, aside from just havin a career as a woman in her family at all. Connor is love starved and lonely and pays Willa to be his girlfriend. Kendall wants to be loved by everyone, Roman doesn't mind be hated by everyone but he craves his dad's rare approval, and Shiv, her emotional damage is that she can't feel much at all. She just has a hard time tapping into her emotions or loving or feeling loved by anyone. Ironically, this can make her come across as FAR more unlikable than the others, because it feels like she doesn't care, but it's not because she's evil and calculating, it's because she genuinely just can't feel love very much. That being said, I don't sympathize that much with Tom either. Like, as a couple, they're clearly incompatible in some ways. They're so sexually different, it puts a big strain on their relationship. But Tom feels entitled to have the absolute top job, literally a billionaire job, just because he's Shiv's husband? He's a mild conservstive from the midwest who on some level feels like, as the man in the relationship, he should automatically have a bigger better job than his wife. Shiv is entitled too, all the kids are, and none of them earned the top job or would be good at it, and at least Tom is a hard working employee of the company, but still. What does Tom have in his career that Shiv didn't give him? Tom skyrocketed through the corporate ladder from being with Shiv, all the way up to ATN in just a few months, all because he's dating the bosses daughter, and he still has the gall to be bitter that she's getting a career move? Pretty cringe, bro.

I've watched the series, and I am having a blast re-viewing, and hearing your reviews of this series. I thought it was the best dramatized example of benign corporate psychosis. I say benign because it's not your traditional psycho murder rampage, but these people exhibit typical psychotic behavior albeit without the murder.

Frothing at the mouth over Tom trying to assert himself at ATN, but quiet like little mice at Kendall firing 400 people because his feelings are hurt and he wants a hug from his daddy. I feel like it's ok to have an opinion that differs from others, and they don't really hate on Roman, just when your actual "view" of the situation doesn't agree with one of the characters you disagree, and that's ok. Having good instincts is like "going with the gut", and as a person who relies on data and its analysis, I can't really relate to someone who just has "good instincts"

Ok so I’ve been thinking this since the first few episodes but what if the dad doing all of this to make the kids fight each other and pick the best man and so far he’s actually betting on Ken which is why he’s been so hard on him but saved him from the manslaughter thing because that was the one thing he knew would actually fully break him? And what if the big reveal is that the dad has had the company willed to Ken this entire time and updates it right before his death but still leave’s everything to Ken? I just had to put that down cause I’ve had a sneak suspicion this whole time and I gotta put it on paper before the reveal happens if it does

LAwrence had a chance to back Kendall during the coup, the only person in the upper management who wanted to really transform the company. Sure, Kendall is naive, and is all for buzzwords (today he would dive into AI xD), but still, he was the best opprotunity for Lawrence for Vaulter to flourish. The final scene at Vaulter, when these woke soy people are meeting corporate reality, when it starts to count if you are making money for the company was great. Vaulter was like Buzzfeed / VICE / Gawker / Vulture hybrid. Huge entities chasing a miniscule demographics, whose met a similar end. muesli pit :)
@johnjungkook2721
@johnjungkook2721 Год назад
Don't act like this was always Vaulter's destiny. Lawrence had no power after the teen tyrant forced his hand. This situation would not have happened if Kendall wasn't an overconfident cuck with pretentious woke delusions in S1. Kendall has now damaged his own reputation, and certain future events probably go down differently if Kendall didn't do his daddy's bidding here. Now Kendall is just the guy who doesn't know what he's doing and damaged two companies in the process.

If you are looking for movies/shows to consider covering I would recommend the tv shows From (mystery/suspense/horror) and Silo (mystery/post apocalyptic/action). For films Unforgiven which is a western with clint eastwood/morgan freeman/gene hackman and Sophie's choice with Meryl Streep are excellent. The godfather trilogy is a classic and there is also Apocalypse Now. Parasite is excellent if you are willing to do movies with subtitles. Something about Mary if you would like a comedy (matt dillon is hysterical in it)

you are just silly by saying that Logan has an issue with women in management xD. Just look at Gerri, a core executive, or Cyd, a long time important employee, or Karolina etc. His problem with Shiv is her politics, and utter lack of business experience. Something that Kendall has in plenty. Just look at a scene in the next episode I thnik, where Frank is conducting an audit, and wants to show her the ropes. She is too bored to care. Leading a company is not only all fun, but also menial tasks, reviews etc. All of the kids are just too spoiled, and Shiv really believes she is better, and smarter than everyone else. She isn't, and that was highlighted by Rhea (an upcomming character, a succesfull businesswoman, whom Logan respected). Sexism is blinding you. All of the kids have weakspots, you could build from three of them like a one good executive. Roman has great business sense, but no experience, and in general weak character (he can be easily persuaded to someone else opinion). Kendall might have the most of the actual corporate experience, but he is an addict, and also often way too naive, boarding the train whatever the current hype / buzzword is. Shiv has some experience in politics, but has no patience to learn corporate realities. She could've been great, but is ruled by emotions as we will see in many future episodes, and is too stupid to know, that to succeed in media, you need to play both sides of the political divide.
