@@Quzga In a sense, though I personally view it more that, while Connor would love to have a more affectionate and close relationship with Logan...he's strangely the one wisest enough to just accept that Logan is never going to love him on his own terms.
That’s the thing Logan loves it when they fight back. If they really wanted to piss him off they should take the money, stop playing their little games and ignore him.

Obviously Nicholas Britell is a musical genius, but I think the “Pirates” scene is his most effective in the entire show besides maybe the finale. It’s SO ominous and coupled with the scene, really makes you see how Logan Roy was able to destroy all his opponents for decades. That’s not the piss-mad bully we’ve seen for four seasons. That’s a fucking apex predator.

I think in these couple episodes it’s interesting that Roman consistently gets pushed around by Ken and shiv and finally at the end of this episode he’s ready to betray them only to get pushed around by his dad
That's not what the Dunning-Kruger effect means. It's more like: people who are *average* in their competency are likely to overestimate their talents, whereas people at the *higher* _and_ *lower* end of the spectrum are more realistic about their abilities.
In the "not serious people" part, one of my favorite parts is that sigh between "not" and "serious". However we know Logan to be horrible, that gives what he's saying legitimate sympathy. Scripted or acting choice, it's brilliant.
It's not in the script. The original line is "I love you, but your are not serious fucking people." So Brian Cox seems to have mutated a previously-hostile line into a defeated one.

I don't think Ken thinks Madsen will walk. The fact that Madsen called him was a sign of weakness. Ken knows he has leverage. Ken is calling his bluff.
This is Logan's first and only scene in which he goes to meet his children completely unarmed, he really wanted to try for a "reconciliation", but at that moment it was too late...
Also like, this words to them "I love you, but you are not serious people" is him at his most truthful. Logan does love his kids...he's just a fucked up person with a very fucked up idea of what love is and how he expresses it. Which in turn makes his children fucked up as well.
On rewatch it’s way more heartbreaking. On the first watch I was so on edge bc Logan always plays with even the viewer’s emotions. Brian Cox was so good.

I truly hate Logan but I do feel bad for him in that scene at the karaoke bar. Especially when you consider the following episode. And again I hate him but I do agree with him, they aren't serious people. Seeing where the season goes its like yeah yall should've taken this deal, instead they're all "its more money" bs
I think it was Marcia in Season 1 who said something like "Logan gave them the world as their playground". They are billionaire kids who have no reason to take anything serious. Because daddy always fixed any issue they ever had. Ken killed someone and never had to face the consequences. Of course they are not serious people.
But the kids are needy love sponges, constantly searching for validation. Imagine if they just decided to start their own business, together, as siblings. Their constant need to get one over on their dad has just led them to more pain. An obvious toxic cycle, but one that they could choose to walk away from. In a sense, Conor is right, love stays the hand. There is something the kids can learn from that.
I did not like that Kerry became so prominent. Not that I dislike her, because we know what she represents - the fact that old rich people seek young partners to feel young again. She was fine in that role, but all came with the cost of Marcia not being present, and that was bad. Marcia is probably the most underused character in the series, and she had such great potential. Mysterious past, her own schemes, her own kids she took care of etc. Second example, but to a much lessen extent is Karolina. Hugo came out of nowhere and took a lot of her potential screen time. Don't get me wrong, Hugo is fine, and often funny, but his role is basically doing what Karolina could do on screen.
The thing is the actress who plays Marcia is also part of the main cast of Ramy, that's why she was less present after season 1. It wasn't that the writers pushed her out or anything, they had to write around her availability.
I wonder why Logan did not just offer them money. Sure, that would make him look weak, but he could instantly check their BS. Kendall says, that the price push gives them an extra 100 million for their shares, so I guess 100 million extra for each. Just tell them that allright, I'll give you 100, or 150 each for your support, he could've easily afford that. If they would say that they do not want that (and surely they would, as 100 million does not mean for them anything, as just an episdoe ealier they've overpaid billions for a business, and Connor asked on the yach fo "extra 100 mil") he could press them hard for what they really want
Logan doesn't have cash. His wealth is the value of his company. He would have to sell ATN to a 3rd party if he wants cash or he'd have to borrow it. That defeats the purpose.
