Acquisitions, Management Training and protests galore! Maybe a funeral mixed in for good measure...

This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire show.

Find it interesting how Connor dealt with the interviewer in comparison to how Greg "handled" it. Im still convinced that Logan thought Kendall committed suicide, thats why he asked about where Ken is so urgently. And thats why he was so nice to Kendall this episode.

Hmmm... I hadn't even considered that as a possible angle. Would also track with why the safety glass was later installed....

Roman's management training is so engaging because of its mundanity and low stakes. He basically lives on an alien planet under the watchful eye of a vengeful god 99% of the time, so to watch him work for, be nervous about, and achieve a small goal is gratifying, like maybe he could recover some self esteem that way. But it's also sad because he won't, it can't last. Watching "the name" pull him back to his alien ass existence and corrupt any chance he had of feeling good about his accomplishment is pretty devastating.

EXACTLY! I'd love to see him grow as a person and perhaps have a character arc, but similar to Kendall being pulled from Re-hab early, Roman's independence and recovery keeps getting snuffed out.

I love your Greg impression 😂 You’re right about the episode being so well balanced, I really enjoy every plot line.

I agree with you. Logan has a ton of resources and knows people well enough to make tactful decisions but he isn't a super genius or anything like that. That's what I like so much about this show, he's not some super OP "villain" it's just that he makes the most out of other people's fuck ups. There was definitely some symbolism with Kendall at the end about not being able to escape. I think he fully accepted his role as his dad's meat puppet. Roman is definitely an interesting character because he overcompensates for a lot and I'm honestly terrified to ever see what all happened to him as a child. I keep saying it but every episode from here on this season just gets better and better. 2x5 is one of my favorites.

The woman Connor was talking to at the funeral was the person writing the book about Logan. That's why Connor was repeating the line about being interested in politics, so she would print it in her book.

Right! It didn't click when I first watched it, but as I was editing the episode and listening harder to what people were saying, I put it together lol Thanks for the clarification and thanks for watching!

@@MovieMan101I always think it must be annoying for people who make reaction videos to catch things when editing that they didn't pick up in the first watch, haha.

im pretty sure that we didn't see mo - we just heard in the last ep that he was ill and logan was blowing off going to see him, and then logan found out he talked to the biographer and also that he died. he was the head of cruises before bill (who is the guy that tom replaced, and who told tom about the cruises situation in s1). also if you haven't seen the apple tv show "severance" you should definitely watch it, roman's team partner brian from this episode is in it and he is so excellent but also i feel like you would probably jive with the show too?
@MovieMan101
@MovieMan101 10 месяцев назад
Right! I remember them mentioning Mo casually, but I couldn't recall if we had seen him in Season 1 or not. I have not seen Severance, but I thought the fella with the beard did look familiar. Maybe, after this show (and if the demand is there) I'll check that one out too!

Connor knew exactly what he was doing when he was repeating that line to the reporter. He’s very savvy, and knew exactly what he was doing. You missed the entire essence of how he handled that.

That's a fair point, in the early seasons I find myself quick to write off a lot of what Connor says. 3 seasons in now and I'm realizing that he actually knows a thing or two.

- Ravenhead was the emcee of the RECNEE Ball in S1E4. Logan calls the ball a wasp trap, WASP meaning White Anglo Saxon Protestant. In media that being white Protestant Americans, the elite upper class, known for dominating US history. - There's no way to prove this true or false, but I have always believed that the person who committed suicide was the one Tom used as a footstool. The reason mentioned in the show is "workplace pressure" (remember Tom wanted to fire people to establish dominance against Cyd). - Colin (Logan's bodyguard) found Ken on roof (where we last see him before he's brought to safe room), so Logan might have got the glass walls installed after learning of that. - Mo was mentioned in previous episode. The biographer Greg talked to had talked a lot to him and Rat f*cker Sam found that out. (Un)Luckily for Mo he just died. So, I don't believe Connor misread the situation. The biographer came to ask for stories, so he just deflected by saying this show's one of funniest lines! Every episode from this one till the end is a banger! Would you call the sort of relationship Tom has with Greg as Emotional Cheating on Shiv?
@MovieMan101
@MovieMan101 10 месяцев назад
Thank you SO MUCH for the context and all the call-backs! Help me to re-contextualize and remember a lot of these characters and people's motivations. I think I just meant more that Connor saw the funeral in general as an opportunity when it ended up playing out as just a funeral. But I could be mistaken there. Ummm.... Tom and Greg, huh? That's a tricky one.... I'm not sure if I would call it emotional cheating per say. I think he cared about/for Greg and certainly values their relationship. But I'm not sure I would go as far as to say that Greg/Shiv would be in some sort of indirect contest with each other. Thanks as always for your insight and support!
