@@TomWambsgans-jx8pm I agree he mainly wanted to escape that lame pitch, but Kendall's shown throughout the series that he knows when to take Greg seriously (which is how he learned Shiv was in bed with Mattson)
Greg nearly destroying Tom's chance at being CEO was not looking out for Tom. They just had enough history together that Tom had mercy on him@@santrader1707
Greg saved Tom. Had Shiv walked into that board room & it was deadlock, her being final vote & she had realised or been told what was happening, she'd have stabbed Matsson (& Tom!) in the back. Shiv is never an ally. She is a curse. She will always flip when it comes to crunch time.
not really.... If sibs and shiv didnt knew mattson plan, then she would be voting to sell company to mattson. After Sell, she would be betrayed by mattson and Tom would be appointed as new CEO... Greg complicated ending with his informing sibs, but accoring to his knowledge, he was trying to save tom ( in that time Tom was afraid to be fired by mattson) so gregs Behavious was Toms fault with his "decimating Gregs salary warning"
I don't understand the logic here. Shiv was on Mattson's side, if she didn't know his manuevering, she would have voted for the deal. If Shiv figured out about the manuevering without Greg spilling the beans, chances are she would flip and the kids would still pick Kendall as the CEO to be, where Shiv would changer her mind anyway and vote for the deal. In what scenario would Shiv not vote for the deal?
@@maxbolton5227 If Shiv only discovered by herself through intuition - which she was already displaying early in the episode about the comic - that Mattson was fucking her over. Shiv ALWAYS flips last second or tries to find herself a better deal on the side. That's why she's a curse, she will always look out for herself, even to the detriment of herself. Roman is like the opposite, he presents a self interested persona but actually tries to play peacekeeper between family. And Kendall is the exact opposite of Shiv. He cannot resist falling on his sword. As Roman said "Kendall will self-destruct because he always does."
@kiratherenegade1561 sure but that's assuming Shiv doesn't tell her siblings once she figures it out. Seeing they've banded together in the series when they're not pitted against each other, seems unlikely to me. If they have their chat and appoint Ken as the heir, then it's the same result.
Greg gave up information without any actual promises from Kendall; "Shoot your shot, buddy" is not exactly "sure, we can 'quad it up!'". The siblings were NEVER gonna let Greg in, I don't know how he failed to realize that given the way they treated him all season.
Love that presentation in the background, how they're planning on making retirement homes so bad that they could get in legal trouble and wasting the Roys' time with this.
Crazy thing is Kendall was the most abled of the siblings to be ceo. His only shortcoming was he was inconsistent and the walking definition of sounding extremely good on paper but terrible on execution. Shiv on the other hand was clever and smart but she always overestimates herself and fails to see that other people are smart too. So in the end, her decision to say no to kendall is completey valid and is 100% in character of shiv. She couldnt fathom kendall becoming ceo because she hates kendall for being a competition to her and in some ways better than her even though kendall himself is really flawed of a character. She thinks if she couldnt succeed then damn well she will make sure none of the other siblings succees too. Roman on the other hand is the real one that i respect. He was the one who finally accepted what connor knew and accepted decadea ago. That none of the siblings are suitable for a ceo position. Because they were born with a diamond spoon and they are entitled and never have to work for that 1% wealthy lifestyle. Also they are not "servile" which is the real quality in real life which the board looks in a ceo.
Great observation. For me Roman were the big turn-around through this 4 seasons, we really grew to understand him, emphatize with him, and in coclusion respect him in a way.
@@gordongekko9742 I really liked kendal believe me I did. But neither of the siblings were good enough to be ceo. I mean remember how he embarassed himself on stage when Karl was giving a speech.
1:52 That is such a perfect line for a slimy pitch meeting. Also - there will indeed be a huge increase in crappy low budget care homes given how boomers are aging in the US. Great side scene
Can't be Frank ... the "old guard" wanted the sale to go through. Ebba fed him the India info out of a spiteful impulse; she's NOT Kendall's friend. The screen is blank (and they didn't do that by accident), so we're not meant to know, but I'd guess Karolina, because that's who Kendall suggested Shiv call.
I posted above that I think it'd be Karolina -- she plays both sides and is most likely to (A) have the inside scoop for PR purposes and (B) be around people where it's safer for her to say nothing. But in reality, the phone screen is blank and that's absolutely no accident. The show-runners wanted to keep it secret.
Oskar: The guy inside (presumably Tom), do you think it'll work with him? Matsson: I think he's what I need, yeah. I think it'll work. Oskar: What should you do? Matsson: With Shiv you mean? Oskar: Yeah, when are you telling her that it's not going to be her? Then he says something else that's hard to interpret (Oskar is speaking swedish with an incredibly strong icelandic accent). That's pretty much the jist of it.
@@ArtVandelay77 Re Oskar, Norwegian or icelandic accent? Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson is icelandic and his accent is sooo strong even by Norwegian standards...
@@ArtVandelay77 🤑 I am even surprised the online translation managed to understand what Oskar was saying... 🤣My swedish is not good but still... you were right it was difficult to catch what he was saying....
