Two things i learned the hard way: 1- Being pre-disposed to actually PLAY and paying attention to what you are doing goes a looong way to get better results. The worse bad habbit is playing too relaxed or in auto-pilot. 2- Identifying what you're doing wrong immediately (i.e. noticing you're gonna die because you're too overextended or took to much damage for no reason). It seems basic, but you actually notice when you, from muscle/eye memory, dominate every centimeter of all the maps, every detail, that you dont think about it anymore BUT you're actually focusing on whats happening around you. Makes a huge difference on decision making instead of that clueless reaction of: "How ? How did i die? how was that possible? that guy who killed me is cheating 100%"
@@yuiem_ it’s all about intention and focus, clear your schedule for the day or for whatever time your session will take and focus all your attention into the gameplay. You have to want to succeed and not the turn off your brain die and complain you know what I mean?
@@velhinho_91yup i kinda get it. sometimes i just play for the sake of playing instead of actually using my brain (think about positioning cus in pubs i get the habit of W keying while not thinking 😭🤚🏻
Apex has something unusually about it, i really wish i could put my finger on. In the past, when i casually played COD or CS:GO, i found that just chilling and playing repeatedly was enough for me to very casually progress at the game. in a matter of months i was a top KD in most lobbies i was on. But with Apex, its not like that or at least it isn't like that as much any more. Apex has gun play that requires much more focus and acquisition of minute details and skills at the muscle memory level. Apex also was built to have more character movement capabilities, and that creates another dimension of skill over top of the gun play. Now today, it has gone way beyond all that, with even some types of illegitimate mechanics that are unofficially accepted into the game and thus exists in a grey zone without explanation or tutorial within the game itself, meanwhile as the skill floor crept higher and higher, very little major balance had taken place and the game has truly been highjacked by professional players who preach the "Meta" and demand what's best for the high level players. No matter how long a casual player chills and plays apex, they simply wont get better at the game in the same way. The Apex of today demands hours in the training range practicing , alone and with other people (if you have them), touching on a range of skills, then beyond that improvement requires productive gameplay to put practice into performance. That last part is very critical and is very easy for those with gaming peers to assist as teammates, but becomes impossible as a solo player. Apex legends has become the Hockey of FPS games, because you cant play or practice without equipment and an ice rink (as the metaphor goes). I think respawn needs to work on more intensive balancing to make skill progression more accessible to the masses with a more "baked in" format.
I completely agree with this I have a 1.23 k,d and I’m paired up with preds and masters already intimidating on top of that I get coordinated teams that attack my team from like 3 angles and I swear I wanna kms over this game bc I can’t relax it’s come to a point where I can’t play without yelling or swearing because of the balancing and completely bs sbmm
Communication for sure is my downfall. The mics on team chat in Siege honestly ruined my confidence on mic cuz both the enemy team and your own team and shittin’, clownin’, and backseat gamin’ on you during intense moments. And I know there’s some chill people on mic sometimes in ranked, but it takes just one bad one to f up rest of my matches.
I know I usually just try to laugh it off some people will make a mistake and will look to blame anyone except themselves for why they failed. Played a game this past weekend where I clearly pinged where I was choosing to drop. At the last minute one of the squadmates pinged somewhere else and broke off off from the group. Care to guess what happened next? Correct he got downed cussed us out for being trash and disconnected. I'll never understand why people want to yell and scream at total strangers over a game...
In most cases it comes down to put your settings down and your fov up. Most probably play on full 110 fov, but there are quite a lot that stick with something like 100, 103, 106, etc. I've even seen 90 occasionally.
I am bad(I took over a year off, I wasn't great before) , but getting dunked on for 2 weeks straight has forced me to rethink old habits and while I've dipped my K/D a bit I see myself making better decisions and being smarter in fights.
if you are playing mnk aim trainers do help a lot. takes a week or so to get some muscle memory. that being said im thinking of switching to controller now. also high ground is king. it might seem obvious but a lot of the time you will die to just bad positioning. after i started always trying to get some high ground advantage i noticed my game improve a lot, gl
the 5 why metodology is key in problem solving , i use it (and a lot of other methodologies) in quality engineering , works every time , interesting thing to hear in gaming , kudos to that man !
Hey ottr! Can you do a coaching series where you Personal message people in your discord sever depending on their level, Rank, Skill and a request. This would be a cool thing to study and a new experience for you I believe. Please do this a random idea I came up with, Thank you!
Do you know how much time that would take away from him to do that? lol. If he's going to do that he's going to charge money for his personal coaching time.
@ Rob men. Na if he streams on twitch then he can make it an option for his channel points. Hes making money and helping out his community. He does have to commit to a separate video but it returns in the long run
@@Squirt1esSquad Dude, the majority of people that watch twitch don't want to sit there and watch someone being coached live, they just don't lol. If that were the case he would be doing it. He's not stupid. You want someone to coach you, pay for it. If not, then you can look at a multitude of youtube vids with coaching tips that everyone can use.
People panic in situations when they don’t have a equal or upper advantage, consider playing 1-2 matches in arenas to warm up and you will see yourself get better.
Do a guide on diamond to masters strictly solo queuing (it’d be more realistic if when you do it, your teammates wouldn’t know that you’re a RU-vidr) currently in limbo between p1 and d4 due to having no teammates and going against triple master and three stack predas as I touch diamond . It’d be very helpful and hopefully insightful
I am a beginner at apex and I honestly know what I am doing wrong but when I go into a match my mind goes into panic mode and just has only two options. Fight or flee. I tunnel vision and most of my planned decisions go out of the window. And then I get flanked from a window that I didn't care to look and die. I don't have any friends that play apex so i am only soloqueuing and I have lost hope. Honestly I wished to learn the game but without any friends or teammates to learn with it, it is absolutely very stressful and depressing to me. So I quitted the game.
That is just a question of staying cool under stress. Which can be practiced. I've seen people of different levels of skill and confidence play. Some panic the instant something happens, some stay super calm. Some have perfect aim and some start shooting walls. Some have great decision making and game sense, some just run in and rely on luck. The first thing that I did was just playing to learn the maps. Landing on different locations, checking sightlines, rotation paths, loot.
For me it's just missing shots and not being able to control recoil and I see people beam and hit every shot but I don't play everyday and don't have cheats
This is video is a great reminder that you don’t need to be good at Apex when you’re starting out. You’ll get better and better the more you play. I’ve only been playing a couple months I wonder how good I’ll be in a year or 2
I think that you can only improve or be good at something only if you have the talent and if not, then you should stop trying and just watch as those who must be good enjoy it, at least that's what life taught me, I'm a main she-wolf, I like it the character and the skills, but lately I'm not doing much when I play with her but if I get another character I play much better than with she-wolf, I don't know if it's bad luck or what
I swear to God my headphones broke at exactly 4:31 and I thought it was some kind of meta joke about having no audio. I'm so high I didn't realize something was wrong for like another minute and a half. I was like, "Jesus way to beat that joke into the ground Ottr..."
I’m trying to watch all the tips and how to get better at apex videos and honestly you have the best tips. I wanted to record my ranked gameplay to watch it back and I was carefully watching my gameplay as I played. I managed to get a win and get to Plat. I am going to follow these tips more and hopefully help me slowly get better.
On the topic of coaches: Rag Tagg did a video a while back where he took a coach on fiverr, and that coach went over more than just "use x dpi, drop hot, git gud" - It started with asking what the "student" thinks they're good and bad at and where they would need improvement. - Then it went over theory, the chain of things that make up an engagement, what to look out for, etc. (things like angles, types of cover, engagement distance, numbers, etc) - After that some time in the firing range and a vod review, to go see first hand what is there and what needs to be done. Even I learned something from that. How to look at improvement, finding flaws, expectations, and more. And I wasn't the one being coached, I was just watching a video.
The legend one is totally true. I found my main Wattson because I wanted to try kidnapping and fell in love with her kit and never payed another legend again. Try every legend for at least 100 kills on them.
Okay, completely agree. (long text incoming with my thoughts on each point) - Taking a break when things go bad is good to relax the mind. And even when everything runs well, it can't hurt to stand up and walk for a few mins. Maybe go to the bathroom, have a snack, just relax for a moment. - Settings are indeed a big trap. The pro player isn't on that level because of their settings and using those settings won't make you pro. I started out with 800 dpi 2.5 sens, am now on 1.8 sens, and don't know if I move further or not. The important part is, that sens works for me. I'm not a pro. Far from it. But it isn't my mouse that is holding me back, it is me. - equipment and legend choice absolutely is important. But blindly following a meta isn't good either. Find something that works well for you. Sometimes meta picks are harder to use, but have their place because the ceiling is higher. In that case only practice can improve your play with it. And when in doubt, use something that helps you being consistent over using what everybody tells you to use. When you improve, you will learn to use the other stuff as well. It's all a thing of balance. (A good example was a match where my team was down shortly after drop and all I had was a p2020 and a charge rifle. So I had to solo 2 squads. It worked out and we got 2nd in the match. I didn't scrounge for "proper" loot but used what I had, even if it was as far from the meta as possible) - Absolutely do vod reviews. Ever wondered why chat and comments seem to know everything better? They aren't in the hectic situation and can look at things with different eyes, often even in hindsight. When you watch your own vods you can basically backseat yourself. - Totally right about picking fights. Apex it isn't looting simulator, but it neither is deathmatch. You have one life and you have to make the best of it. Knowing when to engage, when to pull out, when to stay back comes a long way. The right balance between holding w and ratting.
I think my only problem rn is my impatience during a gunfight; I mean when I am aiming and shooting ill panic and shoot before ive waited to fully aim over my target.
So does Fuse. "Don't take it so seriously, mate. The word game is literally in the title" obviously he's talking about the in-universe Apex Games, but sometimes I feel like more people should treat it that way. For 99% of people Apex isn't their job. Not the thing their income depends on.
Good video, but, CRT monitors are actually good for FPS games, as opposed to sample and hold monitors (LCD), they have practically instant response time so motion is crystal clear, and some of them can get high refresh rates too
Definitely down for a settings guide and tutorial. Also I would recommend trying out new stuff for your setup. I went through a couple of keyboards, mouses and headphones before finding the ones I feel really comfortable with. Mouse is a very important one as size matters depending on your hand size. My preferred mouse right now is the Endgame Xm1r dark frost (yes I like wired, I really don't want to use bluetooth mouses as I have bad experiences with some).
Nothing wrong with wired mice. I'm using one myself. (Okay, but I'm also not a pro, so take it with a grain of salt) The important part is that the cable doesn't hinder your mouse movement. There are mouse bungees available, but I DIY'ed it. My speakers and stereo are on a shelf above my monitor and I simply tied the cable on that board with a rubber string. Flexible enough to stay off the desk, but light enough to not hinder my movement.
For Tilting, Dellor is the perfect example of it, he was one of the best when apex came out, and now ? he is in the middle class. and for shiv ? that's passion.
On advice sourcing, also understand the context of their answer and that it may or may not apply to you. A classic example is when I saw someone ask Hal about meta picks for ranked and Hal answers that composition doesn't matter for ranked. Well, this is absolutely true if you're a top ALGS pro, you can run any composition and consistently win against mostly diamond teams, but if you're one of those diamond teams fighting ALGS pros, you need every edge you can possibly get. Someone who started this game as a professional esports player isn't going to have first hand experience that is relatable to your starting point if they were better than you their first day playing than you are with hundreds of hours played. That doesn't mean you should ignore all advice from pro players, many of their tips are extremely solid and they understand top level play better than anyone else, just understand their perspective and that your situation and experience may not be one they can relate to.
This also goes for "unranked to masters" guides - a predator player playing at your rank is going to have significantly better gameplay than you, which means you can make the exact same choices as them and get a very different outcome. A pro player 1 vs 3ing players at your skill level doesn't translate into something you can replicate. So, again, never expect to be able to replicate what pro players do and say if you don't have the skills of a pro player, and contextualize their advice and decision making with whether or not you're able to actually execute.
One thing I learned and reminded of myself after coming back to apex after so many months is that I completely suck ass and im a cod type player. But then again I give up too quickly maybe I could learn to get good but idk
Good position is the key, is your shield down go back and repair, don’t rush brainless into fights, the weapon recoil in apex is muscle memory and don’t waste your time with this game the matchmaking is broke, ddos attacks and many Cronus players enter this game now.
If there’s one apex tip I would give, it’s to be calm, no matter what you have to do to be so. Is ur hand stuttering? Punch a kid, it helps. Or you could be like Faide, and just scream “WHY ARE YOU THERE” at each and every enemy, trust me it helps
I tend to always rewatch my gameplay while ranking, so I can analyze how I did certain intricacies wrong, if I flew to height hit a bat, I than could have fell down played my teammates knockdown, & won the fight.
plus while I pub I have music on slightly quieter than game audio, due to the audio being so garbage sometimes it makes me differentiate the sounds so when I’m soloq ranking with music off, even the small things than when heard (EVEN WHEN THE AUDIO IS GARBAGE) I know what is occurring.
Same except i do that to tear myself down in discord servers because i cant get better. Maybe improve sometimes but its short lived and I suddenly become garbage again
Ik everyone makes this excuse but the lag gets so bad it makes me Uber tilted. I could be winning a 1v3, with the last guy one shot and I get a latency spike that ends up getting me killed because they basically get free shots.
A guide to finding you setting is a great idea. I'd really enjoy it as someone who switches my settings way to often. I'm really referring to sensitivity.
Pro tip : always play like you're on 3900dmg and need that 4k badge soo badly... you'll make less mistakes, more aware and it works all the time (except you can't always keep that mentality 😅)..
1:04 Law#3 The law of Extremes As emotion increases, consistency decreases. Law#1 The law of Presence Performance increases as thought decreases. Law#2 The law of Reverse effort The harder you try to play well, the more difficult the game becomes.
2:24 - 2:40 THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I GOT!!! I use exact the same mouse as the one on the screen on the 2 minute and the 28s But I still play good, the only thing is that I lagggggggg And get PRED lobbys, I play gun run and in every squad there is a Pred or a master, I once got 2 preds in one lobby and they were in the same team
I think my main problem is too much aggression/people around me. When there are multiple third parties or when a squad pushes together it gets to hard for me because I can never understand what to do making into a decent platinum player to your average pub lifeline player 😢
I'd rather have a solo mode.. I make mistakes don't get me wrong, but the amount of times my teammates are way out of position, die instantly hot dropping, and pick a fight 20 seconds before ring closes.. it's honestly mind blowing how brain dead people are.. and the sad thing is they yell at you for their own stupidity.. I've resorted to having all coms muted+text
for the first time ever....he didnt tell me to like and sub....so now I will FINALLY like and sub...wasn't that easy Ottr? all you had to do was stop trying to force it down our throats. who knew
😂lol this game is like a roller coaster sometimes i get good (sounds cocky) & sometimes i be bad then it all starts over again i heard it’s to do w/ mental fatigue when i play repetitively match over match, my mind starts going numb that i make bad decisions
I like that you put Dellor on there in reference to being tilted cause there’s a clip of his first game on and he gets shit on very fast and proceeds to demolish his keyboard lmao
yoo i have watched a lot of different educational get better at different game type videos and this is by far one of the more useful ones ever long time sub some of your others didnt help me and i thought oh this wont really help much i probably know it all (my biggest enemy is time with any game) but the asking yourself why 5 times is a very big brain useful way to grow that im going to use across all games i play. ty
I think the reason for is that I crouch multiple times at a enemy when I have no teammates AND when I have lower Evo shield I ping the higher Evo shield for teammates. So.......is that the reason I suck?
I'm glad I subscribed. Good stuff. ''Focus on making yourself better''. How much would coaching sessions with you for a week cost ? Say maybe 45 minutes of your time everyday for a week.
I rage at the first game, because I get insta killed, but me, on the other hand, can't kill with a full charger. It's a fudging bullet sponge game, bad af, with slow healing time. Healing doesn't do shit. There you go, I was just mad. Have a nice day.
