@@TheAkwarium Yes, and Emily Browning who plays the main actress also sings in it. It is in the scene where she is crying, soon after entering the ward. :')
I was on 2CI when I went to see this movie and the music mixed with this scene lit me up!! I was crying yet I felt so extremely happy. Seeing it after I realize ofcourse it’s a great scene but I could t explain how sur real the mixture of this song and scene in an imax theatre on 2CI made reality seem to me. I felt like I just figured out something amazing!!
This explains the whole movie. Sweet Pea is letting the hurt go & putting it onto the BabyDoll personality. Dr. Tells her what she’s imagining “right now” (notice she’s hearing BD’s story being told as she arrives. It’s actually her true story being placed onto BD the new arrival) can be as real as anything.
This movie is about schizophrenia. Sweat Pea is Baby Doll. Sweat Pea is the "body", while Baby Doll is the "mind" ("where is my mind" music). But at the end, they "switch". Baby Doll become the body and stay in the real world, while Sweat Pea become the mind and escape the reality. The mind is free. She's free.
"Don't worry, she won't even remember her name when I'm done with her". It worked, because we never knew her real name, throughout the movie she was only "Babydoll", same with the other girls, all they had nicknames because in the brothel of her fantasy world, her real names were not important. And in the real world, they all had the same fate: being lobotomized. Only Sweet Pea could escape. :(
It is sad but I think you missed something. Babydoll and sweet pea are the same person. She starts switching in this scene actually. When sweet pea looses her sister, she relives the trauma she put on Babydoll to let the hurt and pain go. In the end, we see her escape because she is lobotomized. Babydoll stays while sweet pea's mind escapes for good from all this.
@@sarahbout4555 they ARENT the same person, deleted high roller/doctor scene just proves that. the asylum babydoll, who has a different body than sweet pea) got lobotomized
I cried uncontrollably when I saw the shared unspoken look of pain between the girls and her tears while seated with the analyst.....Anyone can be put away for trying to protect the one's they love. We sometimes forget that people err and whether rich or poor, pain befalls us. The worst parts about rumors of being called crazy when you ARE NOT, is about being relegated to a joke or anecdote. To be denegrated, dehumanized, and treated as a social leper. To know you can't call the police when assaulted,To know you'll be experimented on, raped or trafficked in foster care or such settings where no one can hear you scream, help you or believe you when you talk. "Oh she's so beautiful, but I heard a rumor she's crazy"as if you now mean nothing or don't matter or exist anymore. To have the perpetrators accuse you of the very situations or ordeals they put you in in the first place or the things they are guilty of. You are no longer a human being once you've been smeared and tainted crazy. The worst part is you are the victim who went through foster care etc because you were being abused and when you voiced the truth of abuse or murders you witnessed, every attempt was made to cover it up, slander or discredit you. Due to such you are subjected to further continued trauma and loss. You lose all dear to you due to false allegations, rumors, slander, libel and corruption. The truth never changes, even if you lock one up and throw away the key. It's awful to be a throwaway,a disposable. You are a loner. To have your family ashamed of you to the point they denounce you, pretend they don't recognize you,or when they say your not part of the family. To know if you were on fire, noone would spit on you to put it out. It is difficult to be abandoned and treated as if you don't exist,or even more painful to want human connection or human touch and know you'll never get it or a fair shake cause your a punchline to everyone and society. You keep your head down and stay alone knowing misjudgement is the norm. You want the pain to end,to find answers and ways to keep hope alive. You focus on following dreams as the only way out to a better life. You don't speak unless spoken to and live as a recluse. You tell yourself there's got to be more to life than the subsisting your doing and how your going to get to live a life instead of being a spectator in it. You know you are more than a statistic and have more plans for yourself than being where society and haters expect minorities to be in jail, poor or dead. You know there's got to be another way. You know you deserve better. You pray for the day to be understood. You pray for the day someone, anyone will be kind to you and take a chance on you, even if you never are loved in this lifetime. It's nice to see films on subjects and real life ordeals noone talks about...
I never went back to the videos of any movie in the past. I watched sucker punch 3 weeks ago but I still can't forget about it. I watch videos of SP and listening it's OST every single day. AMAZING MOVIE!
This movie is the single most depressing movie Iv ever see I my life I was bummed out for a week after seeing it (and I'm rarely bummed out about anything) but oddly one of my favourite movies
@lizzieswailyukulele I'll try to explain. Basically there are 3 'levels' in this movie: Mental Asylum, Brothel, Fighting Sequences. The only 'reality' in the movie is the Asylum. The brothel and fights are just her way of dealing with the stress in her life. What we see in the brothel is the way her mind copes with it. The brothel and fights are metaphors for what is happening in the asylum. The fighting scenes are when she is most stressed in the asylum...(1/2)
I love the movie the action scenes intertwine with what was happening. A fight to leave. The key, map, knife, fire and the mystery were all that was happening. The mystery was who the story was about.
its so good dude , epic remix , one of the best ive have ever heard in terms of how different it sounds . I go through tons over music and it when a remix sound nothing like the original , when in all reality its all the same samples and sounds .
This video explains the movie if you watch closely. Sweet Pea is going to be lobotomized soon (because she wants to be). It’s actually her story of killing her little sister. The doctor is teaching her to create two distinct personalities. One will be played by Babygirl. The other by this current Sweet Pea. The “Babygirl” personality is lobotomized with the memories of accidentally killing her little sister while the “Sweet Pea” personality gets on the bus at the end headed to see her mom at the end. Also the other girls were Sweet Pea personalities too. They had to be “killed off” so only the actual Sweet Pea personality remained. Rocket wasn’t her real sister. Just another girl in the asylum who served a purpose of giving her some closure with her sister’s death. Most people hate this movie but I respect what Snyder tried to do. Not perfect but still cool AF.
@lizzieswailyukulele The brothel and the fight scenes are all in her head, but in the reality of the asylum, what is really going on during the fight scenes is that she is stealing the map from blue's office, stealing the guard's lighter, stealing the cook's knife, and stealing blue's key.So basically, the brothel and asylum are coping mechanisms. She just lost her mother and sister and knew she was going to be lobotomized in days.
Hey :-) just wanted to say thanks for an awesome upload... there's really only two different versions of this song/video on here that I find are well done and this is one of them... the other is here: Where is my mind?
@sistersforevernever a lobotomy is a technique used to calm the patient, by somewhat erasing the memory of pain and loneliness, and causing the patient to be mild and mellow. This isn't 100% accurate, but kinda on the right track
I don't understand how people didn't get what was and wasn't real, even the simple-minded should of understood that or am I just crazy? I sort of saw it as 3 movies in one that slightly tied in with each other. It's basically just random occurrences that go on in the mind of a traumatized girl. I really appreciated the stories she made up in her head, the Brothel with the girls wanting to escape, and the action story portraying the items they needed to escape in the real AND fantasy world.
let me explain something to you, when you're brain is messed up, your reality becomes a nightmare. In my natural state, I can't overcome my environment, and they keep me around to use again and again and again. Now I can't focus on anything naturally, so I move around in odd ways and do other things. That's just me. Now I am useless, but I could have survived around the village.
the story ist so touchable heartbeating. so good meaning ;) ...how can one not understand this perfect, sad but so true message? the problem that so many children are abused, raped, is still in mass, unfortunately, :( many still keep silent about it in the old age, they do not want to have it true, or suppress it, but it shapes and accompanies you / him throughout your life - and so begins this story in the film, mother dies or even looks away when the father rapes the child, thus her child soul dies, her trauma begins, she catapults very far away, for a very long time she lives with it, or even displaces it, becomes to a baby doll, her protection (alone the name is fitting, baby doll), apparently in her own broken soul, she hangs unknowingly in her life trauma fest (here as a baby doll in the mental hospital, the third level of action is the brothel, probably in real life she was prostituted, and apparently does not know why and not how much does she about di e girl world has done to her and what she will do horrible, but soon they will recognize), then something happens, baby doll sees sweet pea (her true, pure self) and apparently she remembers, the trauma processed by struggling, she now knows how and sees a way out when the 5 steps she has to do (in real life, she handles everything with the psychologist) recognizes hope, the pain can be defeated. sweet pea does not need baby doll any more and recognizes in the course of this story that not all men are pigs and only want one, but not their body, but also their soul that is what another recognizes .... the meaning of filmes is expizite, profound and totally well packed with a lot of action.
@lizzieswailyukulele So, basically what you don't see in the movie is the reality of what is going on in the mental asylum, which - in the world of the film - is the only reality that exists. So basically Baby Doll plans to escape with 4 other mental patients. They somehow steal the items needed to escape. My guess is that the brothel dance scenes are really just "theater" performances in the asylum and Baby Doll is mesmorizing (maybe she's a lunatic on stage?)
And also, it does have a plot. It attempts to make the escape more interesting, it's a much more in depth experience... in my opinion. I don't remember all of the stories portrayed with the girls obtaining the items. I remember one was the lighter in the Brothel, and in the action world it was them getting the two stones that created fire. It made it that much more interesting.
Ok, so it is me who uploaded this 11 years ago... I was always fascinated and even fancied staying in a mental institution voluntarily. I had some pshychotic episodes in 2014 and ended up in a mental hospital. It was awful. Patients are not treated with respect you are sedated most of the time and you can't feel, you can't think, you have no energy, no freedom. You are trapped and you see no way out, you start thinking about suicide all the time. If you stop eating they will tie you to the bed and forcibly pump your veins with perfusions to keep you alive. In the end you just have to start eating again. The only thing that helped me was keeping up with the music and films that were on tv, it made me feel that I have not lost contact with the outside world completely. I stayed for 6 years until I was finally let to go home. I thank God that I am free now, free to go outside, free to see people, free to enjoy life almost as I did before entering this hospital. I wish nobody has to experience mental institutions.
Perception and your understanding of reality, are you scared - you should n't be, human perspective is relative. Truth is in a bubble that only you understand. Embrace this and you will... well that's up to you.
At the end of this video sweet pea will veiw the mental hospital as a brothel. And when tge song was on, those were baby dolls 5 days at the mental hospital. Once sweet peas imagination is over its when it cuts back to where she is just lomotamized
where can i find this version? its a bit different than the others but if u listen careful u will hear it. It has a longer intro...and yoavs voice is stronger not as quiet as in the many versions here on youtube. i think its faster too.
i watched this movie 2, each time i couldn't under stand wtf was happening. the action scenes were stunning, the acting was ok, and the plot, oh my god the plot! it threw me so many time's. i didnt understand what the action scenes had to do w/ the movie, it would of been much better if the action scenes were more entwined w/ the real world happenings. And the ending was a kick to the head, it summed it up perfectly! but this song, this song is not even close to the version done by the Pixies...
@SirLightspeed89 i was paying attention to the details, i just found them difficult to fallow or even understand. it was a great movie but i think most of the symbolism was lost on a few people, to some degree im included. im not going to argue about how sad this movie was, i really enjoyed it, but i think it could of done better. It seemed that it was made for those who like to read deeper into a movie not just watch. i think that's why it didnt stay in theaters very long, people didnt get it
@maggit1 It depends on what you say this song and its music video techinically this isn't the original version :3 The Pixies have the original version.
dude wtf didnt u get the fcking film she is imagining the dance club to not fall into the depressive aura of the assylum. They mayor is the fat guy with the lighter, blue the owner, the helpers the bodyguards. the theater, the death room. there are 3 worlds in the film...
