Thanks. Good lyrics. And as far as i know, there are only 2 points i have. 1 In my personal neutral state, where i already accept not to live perfectly healthy, and i even can not hold on the regular pressure, i have to do what i need. And so, especially if i don't get my grace in that stage, then i can not promise - not to do things in repeat - 2 My girl E.W. since 2014, is relative established after the so longest waiting for love, as my only and best love statement. The rest as far as i know yet, sounds truly to relate.

I just heard this song for the first time during BodyFlow 90 at 24 Hour Fitness & I love it!!! I found the track list online for BF 90 but they had a different artist listed for “Sugar.” It took SEVERAL attempts with Shazam to figure out who sings this as the instructor kept talking over the song but I found it & am overjoyed!!! I need to buy this song immediately!!!

WOW ! The video! At first it seems it is about four different people and then they immediately align into a family ! A family ? Seems like they all have a "long distance relationship" even after being under one roof ! Each one of them , struggling within, wrapped under layers of tangled emotions ! They are trying to find their vent through each body movement , they want to break free ! Well I would not want to rationalize their acts to release their angst ! The video is so aesthetic , metaphorical and hauntingly beautiful ! It is such a profound feeling ! Their ceilings break, their feelings overflow , seems like towards the end , their decorated house , which is just a facade of their inner turmoil , it cracks open , it shows them a pathway to see past the mess they underwent ! Brilliant ! Interpretations can be many ! But the feeling remains the same ! Sufjan , this is amazing ! I have been holding onto Fourth of July ! Don't have words to describe what Fourth of July has done to me ! Again in Sugar , what a brilliant piece of art , both the visuals and the vocals ! P.S : What does giving some sugar signify literally ? I can take up metaphorical undertones but would love to know if someone has some thoughts to share !

@@ajesco I really don't think about the song in that way, i see it more as a social criticism, and that's why i loved it so much, even don't living in the USA. Anyway, we will probably never know.

@@supertavio2 Definitely! And I can see that as well. Sufjan's music is wonderful in the sense that it can be interpreted in a number of ways, and most interpretations are pretty valid. A great example of this is "To Be Alone With You" from Seven Swans. You don't know if it's about a male lover, or Jesus. And thus these types of tropes became associated with Sufjan's music.

I have just the opposite opinion. A great folk songwriter whose sonic experimentation on the likes of Age of Adz was thrilling has now seemingly strayed into the shallow pop zone. I'm glad people are enjoying it - he deserves huge audiences - but it's not for me. The music is bland and the lyrics show none of the lyricism of his earlier work. It could be just about anyone. Perhaps it's his bid for mainstream attention?

I think we're all feeling that lack of "sugar" in our lives being cooped up during this pandemic and it's definitely taking its toll on everyone mentally and emotionally. There's still a lotta life out there, gotta find something to hold on to. As a side note, props to the dancers in this music video! The woman dancing in this video was especially mesmerizing to watch.
