Wow, this mascot went through several transformations with personality and look. Almost as if the marketers had no direction in how they really wanted to pitch the bear. Glad they settled on the cool smooth version with Golden Crisp. At least they were more consistent

Why in the world does he have to turn into Super Bear? In his first commercials Sugar Bear picks up an iron fence, puts it up against Granny's tower, climbs it like a ladder, bends iron bars, busts down stone walls, and bikes through space. He's already the most powerful force known to man, and Marketing decided he needed to be buff?

The sunburst box design ran from 1983-1984. The "solid gold" box design first came out in mid-1984, and at first was used to tie in with the Solid Gold TV series sweepstakes, where one could win a stereo system and a trip to Hollywood to go see the Solid Gold dancers! It was permanently adopted by the time the name of the cereal changed from Super Sugar Crisp to Super Golden Crisp.
