After every night shift at Kodak summer job between college semesters (1983), we'd go to bowl and we'd always play the same few songs on the juke box - this was always the first song. Magic Carpet Ride was number two 🙂
This is one of my favorite songs & has such a cool vibe to it. Sugarloaf was a great rock band in the late 60's to early 70's. Their 2 biggest hits were "Green-Eyed Lady" & "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You". They had some other minor hits such as "Tongue In Cheek", "Mother Nature's Wine", "Stars In My Eyes", "I Got A Song" etc.
That's an amazing song! We're glad you went with the long version, otherwise you'd be missing so much. We don't know a whole lot about this band either, but we're about to change that very soon. We're glad you enjoyed this.

I agree with many of the others who have commented “Don’t Call Us, We’ll Call You.” It’s hip and 🔥 I listened to this during a 4 hr infusion on iPad connected by BT to hearing aids. One is not working so I didn’t bring it with me. Definitely missed having the other channel, much like headphones work, for this song! Mentally, I filled in from memory. 😀
Brother, I'm gonna blow your mind. There's a group that was mostly Bluegrass & wanted to get their foot in the door of Rock & Roll radio stations so they did a song, all instrumental, called "God bless the Conspiracy" that got them in that door. The group is McKendree Spring & you will not believe that you haven't heard it.
I'm so glad you got to this. It's just one of those incredible songs. So fun to dance to. I love that Hammond organ, but really everything about it is great, it's such a great groove. There are quality band check out their other big hit for sure, Don't Call Us, We'll Call You, with several playful references to the Beatles. But it's also just kind of about the music industry but it was so catchy and it was on the radio constantly just like this one.
Biz, sometimes you just cannot interrupt the groove! This is one of my faves. The first tune I learned on the bass. Rock on Biz, I haven't been commenting for a while but I am watching and liking the great reviews.

Yes we had album Stations that would play whole Albums before the singles were released record companies came down on them but they got away with it for a while because AM was the big stations back then So FM said let’s do this in HI FI Stereo
There's about 4 different versions of this song. The one I like best is around 3:43 minutes long. Its the one I heard most often, so when I hear this long one, it sounds kinda strange to me. Still dope tho
