This is one of the best--if not THE best--demonstrations of a Suhr guitar that I have seen thus far. Your choice of bridge pickup and splitting it with the neck was right on the money.

Enjoy your Suhr :) I have a ML ML SSV+ config that took me quite a while to tweak (pu height, screwpoles, etc.) but once it’s been done, it’s the most satisfying, balanced, dynamic HSS I’ve played. Btw: the loaded pickguard is a Suhr, I’ve been assembling the rest of the parts from gathering bits and pieces on the net. The neck is a gorgeous flame roasted maple that plays like Butah ;-) and the trem is a floating traditional 6 screw bridge with bent steel saddles that keeps right in tune ! Cheers

Been considering selling my suhr to fund a jazzmaster bc funds are too tight for me to have two premium guitars. But the suhr clean tone is what keeps me sticking with my sss classic pro.

Thanks for sharing Dan, I too have a soft spot for Suhr , mine is Sherwood Green but the same model(Classic Pro, SSV + 2 V70 also from 2015) . I also have 4 strats(fender) including a CS DG and the Suhr is easily on par with the CS(and in 2015 the suhr was very reasonably priced). I find my Fenders are all different in feel and sound, I love them all (each for different reasons) but when I pick up the Suhr it just screams 'down to business lad' so I know what you mean about they demand precision ... it makes me work a little harder for it but the reward is greater. There is some magic in Suhr guitars for sure. Great vid as always.
@DanLeggatt
@DanLeggatt 3 года назад
Cheers! Glad you could gather that from my ramblings! 😂 That definitely sums it up. I’ve got nothing against Fenders in the least. Played some killer ones but I’ve also played some absolute pigs in the last few years, even CS level. Every Suhr I’ve picked up has been on point from the word go.

Absolutely great clip, showing all the Suhr Classic Pro has to offer. You're a born narrator and a mighty fine player ;-). You're so right about the neck and fretboard. A guitar with a great vibe but a mèh-neck is a showstopper for me. Anyway, I've been through the same experience as you. Accidently got my hands on a Patrick Eggle made HSS-strat for a bargain. I upgraded the guitar with a Fender roller bridge, Sperzel locking tuners and Bare Knuckle pickups (Crawler/Irish Tours). It's been my workhorse since many years. Keep up the good work! Cheers!

I really appreciate the comment about my narration on this video. Thank you! I always feel awkward talking to the camera and often feel like I’m talking total bollocks 😂 So I’m glad it comes across ok! 👍 That guitar of yours sounds lovely. Great demo. That’s a great sounding guitar in every position. Suhr makes great guitars. The SSV is a great bridge pickup! I have an Alt T with SSVs and a Classic JM with S90s and TonePros hardtail bridge. Both phenomenal guitars.
@DanLeggatt
@DanLeggatt 2 года назад
I’ve been really tempted by the Alt T but my wallet says absolutely not 😂 What finish have you got yours in?
@chiricm
@chiricm 2 года назад
@@DanLeggatt Seafoam Green! Loved sonic blue and the white finishes too, but my JM is sonic blue so went with the SG. The Alt T is killer. It’s got the clarity of my old PRS McCarty 594 but more balls and character. Love the neck carve too. My only slight complaint is I don’t love the 2 and 4 positions on most stuff. It’s okay but far from the best split tones I’ve heard (I know it’s not technically splitting, but you know what I mean). I’d be just as happy with a three way, neck humbucker, both humbuckers, and bridge humbucker. I have a PT signature inbound. I’ll be curious to see how the Thornbuckers compare to the SSVs…

Cracking video and guitar man! As you say, the price difference is entirely personal. My American PRS Tremonti was pretty expensive but it was easily the best purchase for me as it is absolutely the best guitar I had ever and have ever played. I cannot beat it for me so it’s a lot of money but it’s a real player and I do not play anything else. And im pretty sure this is where your suhr will sit with you (until you buy another hahahaha)

I absolutely love the colour of this guitar; it’s so beautiful. It’s my 50th birthday next year and I think I’m going to treat myself to a Custom S antique in this colour with a roasted maple neck and board, SSV & V60LPs. I’ve never owned a gold guitar but it’s always been a favourite of mine. I totally agree with you about Suhr necks. Mine is the nicest I’ve played. Is yours a 10-14” board?
@DanLeggatt
@DanLeggatt 3 года назад
It’s a beaut and to be honest looks better in person than I could get it on camera. Sounds like a killer guitar mate! I was very tempted by a Classic Antique in firemist gold that came up for sale before I got this. It’s more of a vivid gold but with the light relic and checking it looked gorgeous. Pretty sure mine is 10-14 too but I shall have to double check the paperwork. I do love that they come with a complete spec sheet.

Hi Dan, as I said previously, Nice Guitar. I like your wonky pickup config and it gives you a good selection of useable tones. Any guitar is worth what it is worth to the person playing it, not what it is worth according to the current market value. I have had a couple of really expensive PRS's and didn't totally jell with them but I now have a couple of PRS SE's and get on with them really well. They both have satin finished necks, which the core ones didn't, but it is more than just the feel of the neck that makes me like them. It might be that I am not as bothered about the value, who knows. Great video as always.
@DanLeggatt
@DanLeggatt 3 года назад
Totally with you on that mate. My favourite guitar of all time is my Les Paul Studio, headstock break and all. Only paid £250 for it but it just feels like ‘home’. I feel pretty overprotective of this at the moment but I’m sure it’ll get a chunk knocked out of it as soon as I get back to gigging and it’ll be one of the herd. Guitars are meant to be played!

@@DanLeggatt i felt like the original knobs were too high that I always end up hitting it while playing and kept lowering the volume without noticing it. So I needed a smaller one and I thought this looks cool too. You might need to put an extra spacer on the back of pick-guard around each pots tho to lower it a bit coz it looks awkwardly tall on mine if I dont adjust the height.
